I think these "next gen" slices will be the true online stuff, but with my experience of SIMS Options Online this year, I wouldn't hold my breath on it being a smooth transition.

So SIMS hosted on a Remote Desktop server running Server 2019 or above so it is using the HTML5 interface.

If these chromebooks are shared, you can also Erase Local User Data under the User Data option in Device settings, that should wipe "Profiles" on logout/restart

I had this yesterday with a chromebook, I went to it in the Admin Console, selected Reset and then the clear user profiles option.

I think they have actually come up with a good solution, after basically going, hey, we are pulling it.

Let's hope that the change to the sign up process for SIMS Options online is not what they are referring too, as it was so so so painful this year, more that other years.

Seems to be working just fine for us with chromebooks, they have an authentication app, which they have to accept the first time when logging into a chromebook, but then it makes sure it is all authenticated properly for you against the XG. If you have both the Filtering and Internet connection up at the same time, it is worth speaking to Wave9 as they supply both (and purely use XGs for filtering) and I have to say, I actually like the XG at lot.

So, new letter sent out to Kent Schools, which are still on the LEA License, they (KCC) have now decided to keep the LEA License for the next 2 years in order to setup a Working Group in Jan 2023 to assess what is on the market

We all seem to have not had our ESS Gateway accounts yet in Kent (if you are on the LEA License) and we don't actually know who is getting it here.

both myself and @simonw are the same LEA, this is the LEA that instructed us not to do anything, as we were with the LEA Licensing model, it is this licensing model that they have disagreed on and removed themselves through and now we have to go to Single School Licensing (like a lot of you may already be) I am waiting to see who gets access to this Gateway, as I want to know if they are going to charge us to move, the same as if you academised (is that a word?) you have to pay the transfer fee or whatever it is called. As we were directly licensed before BSF and had to pay to move into the LEA License under the terms of the BSF contract for ICT/PFI somewhere

Also, word of warning from another Kent School, They have broken off from the LEA licensing too, so now all schools have to go direct, and most of us only received notification Today of this! Putting us all in a very tricky situation when they told us not to do anything if you are in the LEA License!

In SQL Manager - Go to Sql Server Instance level “Server Properties” by right clicking on the Server and choosing Properties. Go to “Connections” and un-check the option to “Allow remote connections to this server”. That is what I do :-) If not, in impero I just add *SIMS* to the block list for windows titles, kicks them all out

I have recently had this, with a different device, but mine turned out to be a setting in group policy. In the Group Policy that allocated your wireless SSID policy go to Computer configuration >Policies > Windows Settings > Security Settings > Wireless Network (IEE 802.11) Policies When here double click on your SSID/Wireless Network Name In the General Tab Select Your Profile Name and click edit (or double click on it) In the security tab, click on the properties button next to "Microsoft: Smart Card or other certificate" In the Trusted Root Certification Authorities section, scroll to your Certificate Authority issuing the certificate and tick it (this was not a requirement until recently and raises it's head in a recent windows 10 update and in windows 11) OK and save everything and then do a GPUpdate /Force on the machine. Let me know if this does work for you please :-)

Are you on about Storage Spaces Direct? The bit in a hyper converged setup to make them into a "virtual SAN" for lack of a better word? Or are you on about Tiered Storage so they are using local storage but like a giant Cached SSHD? If you are planning on using them as Hyper Converged, use windows Admin Centre to set them up, the wonderful @Katy did a blog post about that here https://katystech.blog/2021/01/wac-hyperv-cluster-s2d/
