  1. Which server are you on? We are ne-1
  2. How strange, dont see any issues here, Use it quite alot, things such as Teams assemblies to students sat near machines. I can only pin it down to us using Securly, and any Senso connections are not proxied and go direct.
  3. I'd second Securly, Its a bit different to Smoothwall as it doesnt log as much detail, but we also use Senso and the two of them together allow full management of devices on and off site,
  4. Just a quick heads up, what do people use for generating email signatures in Office365?. I use the disclaimer rule for our MAT wide disclaimer but would like to start generating some branded email signatures, name, job role and school badge. Thanks all,
  5. Big plus for the 1930's instant on's here. Run them as edge switches 48 port and POE 24 ports. All managed by an Aruba 5406Rzl2 core. The 1930 24 POE swiches are currently running our Ruckus R750 AP's and PoE phones with no issues at all, 2 of them are full of POE devices and have been solid since summer 21. Just about to replace our last remaining 1910 and 1920 edge switches for 4 more 1930s next few months.
  6. Not north west, however have been using CDM V2 for last 2 years, I am also testing CDM V3 which is yet to be released mainstream.
  7. We are Bromcom, however before we moved I used locker https://locker.co.uk/ with SIMS, worked well for our needs and still does with Bromcom, great job with managing our Teams environment. Tried SIMS ID, at the time it was over complicated and not very user friendly, this was 4 years ago so things may have changed.
  8. I was just looking to see if I could find a bit of video when they are all setup I could share, but nothing saved. I would have said the set above would be brighter, you would also have more channels of DMX control. The reason I went for the COB 4Bar was the lenses. I tend to use them in a pair, one either side of stage. Then use 2 with lenses for pin spots and then 2 without the lense for stage flood on each side. Can create some nice background like, but also pin spot where people stand or when something inmportant is happening. That set from Terralec looks a good little package for the money, JB systems have this little video about the 4bar here -
  9. Hi Martin, There is mention of upgrade in this online article. https://faq.scomis.org/kb26315/ The updater is usually distrubuted when you update core SIMS. However I highly suggest you make contact with your SIMS Support provider, be that a 3rd party, LEA or SIMS themselves as you have not done this before. They will have a procedure and will be able to advise on connection methods via your connect.ini file.
  10. I have 2 of these, JBL systems COB 4 bars. https://www.terralec.co.uk/led_par_cans_spots__floods/pre_mounted_rgb_4_led_par_can_lighting_system/33566_p.html Easily portable and store nicely. They just use speaker stands to mount. I purchased so extra length speaker stands as our hall is very high and the stage is around 5ft higher than the main floor. They come with leneses so you can go from flood to pin spot, match it up with a Cobra 12ch DMX unit https://www.terralec.co.uk/dmx_lighting_controllers/cobra_colour_control_12_dmx_controller/32486_p.html You will find it a very capable system with plenty of scope in the DMX controller for programming scences and light runs. Some of the auto programms in the bar are very good for disco's and events. I have even just used the IR Remote at times.
  11. Ruckus using Unleashed with 35 AP's, mainly R750's. Excellent Wifi6 performance, 500 students and 60 staff. Fit and forget to be fair. I would suggest looking at the controller option maybe for some of your more complex VLAN handing. Unleashed does everything I need it to do personally. Fitted around 8 months ago and really pleased with it.
  12. Alarm bells immediattely start ringing with that, and hidden increases year on year (not saying that for them) I would 100% look at a CCS agreement https://www.crowncommercial.gov.uk/agreements/RM6174:2/lot-suppliers I would also recommend RM6174 if you are an academy. Personally with Ricoh and they are fantastic, pricing is not beatable by anyone and you know where you stand, prices are fixed for the whole term, and even staples are free Link to a video done a few years back about some of the red flag warnings. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/education-19681437
  13. Hi All, Wonder if anyone has any tips / words of wisdom. Over half term I tried Office 21 (LTSC) to replace Office 2019 on some of our devices. Not to impressed with some issues this is causing with O365 compatibility. I now know I should really go to deploy O365 to devices. As these devices are mainly shared, I will need to look at device licencing. It seems to be a slightly gray area, our devices are not Azure AD or Hybrid joined as we use IAMCloud services. Online the documentation seems a little patchy how we go around licencing these devices. Has anyone tried this before IE, deploying O365 to device licences without they being in Azure AD.
  14. Hi Can only recommend Veeam its great. You would really need to ensure that the QNAP is located in a different building than the servers as a minimum. If you have a fire or flood its all gone if the QNAP sits next to the servers. Sounds like you are on an FTTC connection, with 6TB usage that will take a while to backup to cloud, and unless done in the holidays could effect your normal day usage. I had a similar situation a while ago and decided that we would only additionally cloud backup the SIMS and Finance software server. Saying that Veeam is very good on doing incremental backups which cut down on traffic being used. I did however do a full backup once a week on a weekend. I would like to think that any consultant service on your project would look at your bandwidth and work a solution to your needs.
  15. Our old MC1550 controller had flash storage card, but you may be able to switch the HDD out. They are usually some on ebay you may be able to purchase in, dont think our MC1550 would be compatible with your config. Saying that, When I spoke to a supplier, the current Fortinet range can support legacy Meru devices and possible some of the config, These are the guys I was speaking to at the time before deciding to replace the whole system with Ruckus. https://www.virtualgraffiti.co.uk/Partner/Fortinet . The kit is that old I would say there is a huge business case to get it replaced.
  16. Jordan, I was looking for something that works and didn't need to time and input that Smoothwall did as I need to spend my time on other parts of the job. Move to Securly in the summer on a new 1gb leased line and not looked back since, brilliant system with reasonable reporting and does what it says. Importantly any issues are swiftly dealt with either Securly direct or our leased line supplier.

  18. Not something I have looked at, main reason being is that the actual Synology itself is encrypted.
  19. I was really annoyed about the lack of an appolgy regarding the mess up a few months back. Like you say its an important safeguarding tool and it was as if nothing had happened. What really got me was right bang in the middle of this their sales team were pushing out videos of how wondeful their service is. Maybe Covid is the reason why live chat is broken and no one answering the phones. I would understand it much more if there was quick message to say why. In the mean time they have pushed out a new app, that I cannot deploy via the console (useful for DfE laptops at home) as its borked, so basically stuck with no way of getting around it in the short term. Sadly the staff have lost faith as have I, so will look at some demos with competitors in Jan when we all return.
  20. True, I have tamper cases on all my machines didnt come into my mind
  21. Expensive but these also exist. https://cpc.farnell.com/tuk/kpj2nt/t-lok-tamperproof-faceplate/dp/CS31332?mckv=s_dc|pcrid|224645161149|kword||match||plid||slid||product|CS31332|pgrid|45968746254|ptaid|pla-1394700091811|&CMP=KNC-GUK-CPC-SHOPPING&s_kwcid=AL!5616!3!224645161149!!!network}!1394700091811!&gclid=CjwKCAiAh_GNBhAHEiwAjOh3ZDvKAaF6IM0phskRpVua0Wzph-6UfQMz_2jyvCagBssCGL2sN-uhnBoC3e8QAvD_BwE
  22. I feel your pain with this one. You can force a remote GPUpdate /force but its a case of working out when that is. I am not sure of your filtering setup and transparent proxies alike, this is a time when using forced proxies would be very handy, no GPO = no internet. Had a quick google for anything around but cannot see anything myself.
  23. Chop their hands off More importantly in this, what are they achieving, or looking to achieve by removing the cable during login>
  24. Morning all, I wonder if there are any real alternatives to Senso.Cloud I have used them for nearly 3 years but they have rapidly gone downhill. 2 weeks worth of outages recently caused by an upgrade which obviously was not tested very well. They have once again last few day broken our portal and although I have tried to contact them not had any reply as of yet. We are using the full suite, particularly remote control and management for IT support. This is iffy in Senso at the moment, for security before screen share we request staff actually give permission for us to view the screen but currently it sends the end users screen crazy with loads of pop ups, we then have around a 50% success rate in actually connecting. Any ideas of products welcome, we have used LanSchool previously but felt its lack of safeguarding tools was detrimental.
  25. Id say so, yes it does. This is just the free essentials package on the system, no experience of their premium offering. BTW I have checked the files it picks up, they are old flash games used by DT Dept in 2008, really need to start sorting out some of these subject shared areas with leaders of dept.
