Holiday Time Safeguarding Monitoring
TheRobins replied to mitchell1981's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Sounds an easy cop out, but the Safeguarding Lead has responsibility for monitoring and filtering, I would be getting them involved in these discussions as soon as. -
Microsoft Teams - Disable ability to post
TheRobins replied to TheRobins's topic in How do you do....it?
Its the posting facilities within a team you are a member off. The policies do not cover this function, I have disabled all messaging features yet they are still able to start a post and all reply. The content owners (teachers) can set Moderation mode within each of their teams which they stops them being able to post or reply within a team. However, with over 900 teams I cannot see everyone wanting to do this. There are both powershell methods of setting moderation settings via either the Teams powershell module or Graph module. I have tried extensively to try these methods of powershell scripting and also come up against a brick wall. Further reading suggests that its possible this function has been removed from the functionality for some unknown reason. I will try again maybe this afternoon to look at the Moderation settings again, or if some magician can say "its in your teams admin portal, your not looking in the right place" Thanks, -
Microsoft Teams - Disable ability to post
TheRobins replied to TheRobins's topic in How do you do....it?
Sadly Moderation isnt included in any of the policies. From what I read the MS reply is, Teams was designed to be like this, allowing members to post and reply to do their job. It does allow the channel owners to set by hand, but no policy or scripting seems to adjust this. https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/office/change-moderator-roles-and-settings-in-a-channel-in-microsoft-teams-6ac54758-3440-4f6a-9bd5-cebf97cb7ea6 -
Microsoft Teams - Disable ability to post
TheRobins replied to TheRobins's topic in How do you do....it?
It all looked good, but after all that it doesnt look like it is currently supported, even when trying it via the Graph API. Even in the end CoPilot said it cannot be done. Thanks for the tips, will leave it till next week and have a fresh go at it. -

Its a godsend, I very rarely need PS and know the bits I need to, Use it for managing my hyper v storage clusters. I am now creating a very fancy script, with email reporting and a weekly run to catch any new groups Thanks for heads up. -
Microsoft Teams - Disable ability to post

Thanks, you would be suprised how many would skip that step. I didnt think about co-pilot, There are a couple of staff teams that still need the feature, so may even try it with a CSV report of the teams to do. I will have a play about now. -

Microsoft Teams - Disable ability to post
TheRobins replied to TheRobins's topic in How do you do....it?
Thats it, Moderation policy to apply to all channels, trying to get people to do it one by one just wouldnt work -
Morning all, Been looking at teams policies for what seems like hours, Is there any way or policy to stop users or members more importantly from being able to create and reply to posts in a team. Most of what I have read have said no its cannot be done, but looking to be proved wrong. Thanks,

powerpoint flicking pc back to single screen
TheRobins replied to chrisgreenwood's topic in Windows 11
I use the Lindy ones, Cheap enough and not had one failure in the 3 or 4 years I have been using them. I dont use them for audio as I always use external audio in classroom setups, so if you are looking to pipe audio to display device you may have to do some testing as to which one suits your needs. https://www.lindy.co.uk/audio-video-c2/splitters-c159/2-port-hdmi-10-2g-splitter-p10374 -
powerpoint flicking pc back to single screen

Had this problem for years, different os'es, different hardware (well, all HP) I now use HDMI splitters, 95% of staff thats fine and the projection screen is just replicated and no issues. The ones who need dual screens I just fit cheap Nvidia 730's or 710's and then never have any issues with powerpoint or dual screens. -

OneDrive/SharePoint drive mapper - which one?

+1 for CDM, Currently testing V3 and also moving main file shares into Sharepoint. Did have a few issues a couple of years ago with V2, Microsoft kept bringing out changes to the API and not letting them know, first they knew about it was when the phone wouldnt stop ringing. V3 has been very stable for the 2 months I have been running it, the logging is good as well if there are any issues. -
Broadband provider recommendations

Another one for CoConnect here, great team behind it. On their netsweeper solution which has not let us down once in nearly 12 months. -
About the same apart from ours is hosted by Co-Connect, worked out cheaper and they do our SDWan solution so made sense to keep it all on the network. I run the SBC on a windows VM, its tiny and doesnt need any real resources. I have also just read they support RPI 5's now to be used as an SBC if you looking for something small and lightweight. We have a mixture of Yealink 46u's and 31g's and then a couple of Fanvil PA3's attached to some 100v line amp's and outdoor speakers for our paging system. All just works and has been ultra reliable. Some staff also use the 3CX mobile app and that also works well.

Yes, you would loose the cluster whilst it restarted. However, there are some posts on here regarding Veeam having issues with windows server at the moment, /forums/windows/241340-veeam-server-grinding-halt.html I use Veeam (latest version) on server 2019 fully updated and not seen any issues as of yet.

Any reason to avoid this, the easiest, most reliable way to do it. I do this with my Ruckus Unleashed setup, when first joining them I just used my spare POE switch in the office which was untagged to the unleashed vlan, plug them in and 5 minutes later then are updated and joined to the system, then move them to their installed position.

WCAG 2.2AA Standard for school websites?
TheRobins replied to PotNoodleTech's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Does anyone know if they have a named account manager now, we used to when it was E4, tried ringing a few times and get nowhere, I suspect they are currently doing this in the office. -

The lad on finance I spoke to on the phone sounded completly fed up and basically just said email in. I looked on the website and they removed most of the contact us details. -
Seems like one use for them, We dont run google here otherwise would have looked at it, but they made £150 each with the HP cashback, thought that was good.
-
Sorry to say they were not fit for purpose when they were built 5 years ago. I used them as cashback against new HP devices, otherwise they are doorstops.

WCAG 2.2AA Standard for school websites?
TheRobins replied to PotNoodleTech's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
A copy of the blanket message they had obviously prepared as they didnt even remove the add email address holder. They cannot go around just charging schools without written agreement, I am sure E4 wouldnt have done this before the take over. Wonder if its worth taking it further? " Thank you for contacting us regarding your Website Accessibility Compliance invoice. On the 24th January 2025 you were sent either a letter, email, In-App message via your CMS or all three in relation to the Government’s Statutory Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA. Email address/es the communication was sent to: [add email address] Within that communication, attached, the details of how we would approach this on your behalf was relayed as follows: “Unless you tell us you are handling website compliance in-house, or by other means within 7 days of this letter, we will implement the Accessibility Compliance Package to enable you to meet the new minimum legal requirements. This includes publishing the accessibility statement, enabling staff training, activating the Statutory Policy Compliance Dashboard, and invoicing the £249 + VAT, reduced from £499 + VAT." You received the invoice because you did not notify us that you wanted to handle the compliance in-house or by other means. We have now gone ahead and implemented the Accessibility Compliance Package given you did not opt out by the deadline. " -
Thanks Rob for the heads up on that, Broadcast screen is the thing that the staff request most, I use remote login during holidays but ill have a chat with them when they reply to my upgrade request and see if there is a timeline for these features.
-
Safeguarding is Number 1 for me, As regards classroom management its screen locking, control and broadcast. If that all works should be good. Assuming it has a new client installer for end devices?

Either your an AI bot, or I am just booking in my upgrade as we speak, we will find out
