I am chuckling here, none of us are brave enough to go for it first. I think they had some challenges from the changes that Microsoft keeps bringing in during updates that they just dont seem able to get on top of. Hoping this is a re-write for that reason instead of trying to patch the old system. When it works, it works well. The safeguarding side is very reliable, shown by the number of students who have to visit me on a weekly basis for a "chat"

Used Securly for 3 years before moving to a Netsweeper solution in the summer. Didnt leave on bad terms it was a more strategic choice with a MAT future requirements. The 3 Years I had Securly really did rate it, it was fit and forget and performance was usually very good. I did like their Youtube management, really could lock it down as you needed. I have noticed the issues lately which hopefully they will solve. I looked at Lightspeed before going down the netsweeper route, it seemed overly complicated and didnt quite fit the bill for us on the demo.

We paid ours via the school size, there was 4 - 5 tiers.

Did very similar 6 years ago when we lost some overhead fibre in a storm. I did still have the official power adapters for them somewhere, but may have chucked them a while ago. I also ran from window to window, but just used cable ties. Got around the 200mbps mark. However if you get them externally got up to 350mbps plus.

You could do it via, Catergory, Channel or an actual video itself, it worked really well and we even had a safeguarding audit and they couldnt break it, much to their annoyance. One of the features I am missing.

Hi all, Wonder what is the best way to manage youtube in Netsweeper. I have moved from Securly to Netswepper and miss how Securly managed youtube, especially for our Students. Whilst we do not want free reign on youtube for our students, there are legitimate reasons for them accessing it especially in computing lessons. I have been playing with enabling Restricted mode, just testing it and its about as useful as a chocolate teapot. Wonder how you all handle Youtube and Netsweeper together?

They do bigger bundles, 10,000 is the lowest tier they do. It gets cheaper the more you add as well. Its a bit like when Groupcall and SMS became the thing to do, bombarding parents with 10 texts a day and they stopped reading them.

Dirt cheap really. However, I have started using the GOV.uk notify for our catering system. If they could plug into the Notify API which is coming soon that would be the best of both worlds. Includes text messages if needed as well. Also being a Gov.uk email domain its quite spam filter proof.

We use the SMTP credits via Bromcom, works very well and they have done quite a bit of work on DMARC to make sure they dont get blocked.

If you know your curcuit number, most ISP's would be able to query either Openreach or the suppliers database and tell you exactly what that curcuit is, is it still live and what its potential is. I did that for a business a couple of years back who couldnt get ADSL as they were that rural, turns out the old office next door to them had a leased line install years ago before they went bust. Openreach installed the fibre into the shared corridor between the two building and they were able to get that to get their own leased line without any construction fee's.

Just looking at our new Openreach ONT now as well, Plenty of backup if the leased line ever went down.

Looks like a very early Fibre ONT at the bottom. The top right box will be your CTU from Openreach. I suspect its part of the old LEA networks, as thet ONT has 75 ohm coax outputs, suggesting a max of 10mbps. The black box looks like an old ISDN modem, but you have fibre going to it. As suggested, Just power off the black box out of hours and see if anything breaks. If not leave it off. However, I would leave the incoming Fibre CTU, if you ever have an issue with your leased line, they could use this to very quickly get you back online. You never know, if you need another line in the future you would escape any install costs. Saying that, found an old post on here from 2012, It will be an ISDN over fibre connections, ISDN 30E, probably not active for 15 or so years. As suggested, needs some diagnostics doing, looks ok from the picture. Can you delete any time schedules, or put it into "summer" as a temporary fix (Unless they also supply hot water, and you do not have a sepearte hot water boiler) I am actually on hold to Viessman at the moment trying to sort out a warranty claim on a new boiler.
