Office 365- how are you using it for teaching and learning
MrFrostmaul replied to Liam's topic in Cloud Services
So far with our change there hasn't been many moans and groans. We are looking at drive mapping and promoting the feature of all files in one place no matter where you are and that stuff. I've done about half the staff and remaining this week and next week. -
Would be helpful if I could do the select people for first release... Been getting "Sorry we can't add the people you've selected. Please try again later." for the past 2 weeks when trying to add myself or anyone else.

Thank you Worked fine. Completely forgot about the control ID's.

Hi, haven't had any luck with this so far. Going to be looking into it in more depth soon.
-
Cant see it in mine yet. I am not special enough lol

We are trying to look into the same currently. Wanting to provide drive mapping with our scripts, but require SSO.

We are using: modus interactive - Powerwise Had for over 5 years and no problems at all, it basic but that all you need with waking up PC, and shutting them down. Each computer can have its own profile if needed such as General Computers and SLT machines etc. Can control to the minute for the schedules.

Hi, Recently Rolled out Office 2013 to the entire school, so far going good apart from the staff usual moans and groans of change. Trying to disable the Share Tab under File (http://i.imgur.com/wwTPqYb.png) via GPO, I have managed to do everything else but cannot find something to do this. Anyone know how to do this? Thanks

They do offer a free 14 day trial, getting it on Monday and going to have a look at it all and will let you know how I get on.

Yeah, it looks for about £60 a month for what it looks to do is a good price. We are planning on moving all staff and students existing documents to Office 365 (They choice, but we preferring them to) and Shared folders will be cloud based. Haven't seen it in action yet, but sent off an email this afternoon asking if there is a demo/free trial to have a look with. Will let you know how it all goes.

Looking at Drive mapping for Office 365 for our users areas and our different SharePoint Sites. Looked at many and iamcloud has come to the top of the list now, it looks good and just about to finalise it with them to purchase. Looking at getting the Identity+ Package Has anyone used them and can recommend them?

Meraki Silent Installs
MrFrostmaul replied to Its5oclocksomewhere's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
You can now Supervise the iPads via Apple's new DEP system which come supervised out of the box. There have been some issues lately (in IOS 8.x) with Silently installing apps which used to work via VPP and Meraki, but no longer do.- 6 replies

We changed our sync with Azure from 3 hours to every 15 minutes as had alot of problems when it came to the 90 day period of staff password resets and they had to wait three hours to access their emails and cloud files.

"All my other schools gave us the administrator passwords"
MrFrostmaul replied to eyetea's topic in General Chat
@jomah, that what we currently have as if somebody leaves you don't need to keep changing the master password and for auditing reasons you can see who does what incase anything happens. -
"All my other schools gave us the administrator passwords"
MrFrostmaul replied to eyetea's topic in General Chat
Only me and the Network Manager have the admin passwords. There is a copy of the admin passwords in the disaster recovery plan which is locked away in a safe. -
Need to install Python onto our school network
MrFrostmaul replied to spmartin27's topic in Educational Software
This would be really helpful for me to know as well as we have installed default to the c drive as only teacher is using this at the moment, but really need like what you are saying when students are starting to use it. -
Users Home onedrive downloading to roaming profile section?
MrFrostmaul replied to afc123's topic in Cloud Services
For any user who will be roaming (teachers and students really), best practise is you should never have the onedrive local software installed on "roaming computers" and keep them all on the web based. Saved us from alot of roaming issues we were having like yourself. Recently spoke to Microsoft and they said from their educational team that they are looking for a drive mapping option just like folder redirection to that users onedrive area on Office 365 which should be really helpful. -

MrFrostmaul replied to balticstar's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
We are facing the same problems, would be really helpful if someone has done this and shared their wisdom. -
Thank you

The Licences assigned is the ProPlus for Students, which include Office 365 ProPlus and OneDrive for Business. I thought this would be assigned automatic with SharePoint as is a basic feature. The account can access the site if they have the link.

Hello, Currently in the progress of starting migrating to Office 365. I have been testing SharePoint and starting to like it. There is one thing I am confused about, I have created a "Science" Page for the subject and shared it with a test user, but when logging into 365 of the test account, there is only OneDrive, and the other Online Programs and nothing relating to SharePoint. What would really like if possible is another button to add to all user accounts for the main "Intranet" site which they can navigate to the others from there. Is this possible or anything else I could do? Thanks

We are planning to move away from PASS/3Sys to iSAMS this summer as they are offering alot more than what we currently have.

We are using Spiceworks and have installed on one of our servers. Very good system, easy to setup and have had no problems with it (been using for a year now) + It syncs with AD so auto logins for them. +1 for Spiceworks.
