Yeah, luckily haven't had any problems with it and been running as they are for just over a year now Normally the main DC only restarts about once a month. -
When was your servers last updated? (Windows)
MrFrostmaul replied to newpersn's topic in General Chat
Every Sunday morning at 4am and will restart if needed auto. I have a WSUS schedule for Servers to do at this time separate from the main windows 7 machines. -
We are starting to encourage people to save to Office 365. With emails I found to archive to do a remote move of their O365 mailbox to our local exchange server (Sitting there doing nothing, so might as well use for archiving), but does anyone have any recommendations of OneDrive areas? We are planning to keep user accounts in O365, but disabled and kept for a year after they leave, so should give them enough time to get anything off after they leave or as E1 for education is free, to keep accounts for a longer time and just keep them disabled?

Same for me, it like did they even think about it as a basic feature and if dropping IE then Edge needs the basic that IE had.

We have students every year (they forget a lot) and staff every 90 days. We use the Password Policy built into AD to auto change them (need domain functional level 2008+). Teaching staff have access to change student passwords only via distributed delegation in AD.. So far all been working well for us and students don't really have the problem of forgetting passwords a lot here

Apple IDs for MDM- surely there must be an easier way?!

+1 for AirServer as well. A good solution I found to look at the costing for licences/apps etc. for iPads is to say £20 per iPad for Licencing, Apps and other software requirements which so far for us has worked very well.

We archive their email and documents areas for minimum a year. For certain staff such as Admin Staff, Head, Finance etc. we keep their mailboxes for longer for audit trails etc. Overall, if you have the space it's better to archive. We have a 3TB external just for archived data

Hi, I have a word document and excel document on my Office 365 OneDrive account. When in the Word Document I want to mailmerge from the Excel document, I go to the file path of the oneDrive area i have mapped (It is the real working to OneDrive etc.) but getting this message: http://i.imgur.com/709Myxl.png when selecting the file. The file does exist and has not been moved, renamed or deleted as I can see it and then open it fine.. Anyone come across this before?

Hi all, managed to finally get rid of our Windows Server 2003 server after many months of it not wanting to leave us. It's time now to promote our domain functional level higher now, is this just as simple as selecting from: Screenshot by Lightshot ? We have multiple Windows Server 2008 R2 Servers so will be promoting to that level so they still work with the domain. Is there anything for me to be aware of before doing this magic step? Thanks, Matt

We have banned words rule which are swearing etc which rejects the email with the reason why and also have a suspicious words rule which we are BCC'd onto that email chain for safeguarding.

Took over and the people before were so nice there are no storage restrictions, so far noone has abused this and max user area is like 8gb for a staff member, but with Office365 and OneDrive might bring in a quota limit to encourage them to save to their OneDrive area instead of locally.

We have almost the same naming and location system and it works fine for us on 2012 R2.

Active Directory - User Account Management
MrFrostmaul replied to MrFrostmaul's topic in How do you do....it?
Many thanks from everyone - Will try the different ways etc. . -
Hi, It has come to the time of the year of Active Directory of creating and removing user accounts. We currently have a template user in each year and then just copy that user and change. This is very time consuming as having to do each user. Does anyone know a way which will allow me to create users in AD in OU=###### from a spreadsheet? The required fields that would need to be imported are: First Name, Last Name, Username, Password, Email Address, ProxyAddresses (in Attribute editor) and finally setting security groups for the user to be a member of. Does anyone know a way for this to be done? Many thanks, Matt

We don't have a proxy, but I think when they installed it there a setting or something where it inspects the HTTPS. Not 100% sure tho, but currently runs perfect and inspects everything. Found: http://files.lightspeedsystems.com/collateral/white-papers/SSL-Explained.pdf on Page 17 and 25 at bottom it says about the Decoding SSL traffic
-
Hi, We have Lightspeed setup where it sits after the firewall and before the main core switch. All internet traffic has to go through this and is all monitored and filtered. It is possible and works very well, we have the agent installed on each computer which automatically captures the users AD Info when logging in to automatically authenticate against Light Speed without any proxy settings etc. Matt (Cool name right)

iPads able to receive apps without apple id's?
MrFrostmaul replied to the_dude's topic in Cloud Services
From what Apple released in their Conferences etc. that if the iPad is in Supervised mode then you do not need an Apple ID for apps etc. and for deploying via VPP you will deploy to the Device, not the Apple ID which should save everyone alot of time . It just depends when your MDM updates to support iOS 9 Functionality fully. -
Hi, With "Also, is there yet a way to sync users home drive to Onedrive for business yet, so they can get to there files anywhere and any device?". There is no way built in from Office 365, but are paid software/companies that do this. We are telling all staff and students, if you want to access your files from home etc. to move those files to your OneDrive area and off the local system.

Office 365 - SharePoint Site for Staff Only?
MrFrostmaul replied to mb2k01's topic in Cloud Services
I've done this, create a site and on the permissions just assign the security group to it. you can sync your security groups via dirsync from AD. -
Hello, currently have OneDrive being used by everyone in the school which is good. Currently have this issue with my OneDrive where it is creating these folders and will keep making them (last week deleted Email Attachments 1-89).. Anyone know a fix for this? Thanks
