More likely that they got too hot whilst charging. The odd thing is that an ipad can manage heat and charge rate, My thinking is how they'll react to external thermal stress whilst charging. (probably from the other ipads)

dumb thing to check would be the DNS settings of the DNS servers them selves. I think best practice is 1 to self and 1 to your secondary DNS server. Oh and check your forwarders if you have more than one check them all. I assume the DNS queries your not getting replies to are external ones.

yes, looks like a VGA shielding issue. Try lowering the resolution and or refresh rate to see if the picture clears up.

download the job log, (just to test speed of the download) also check and uncheck printer protocols. (bonjour etc.) but also derpy things like check the patch cables etc. gigabit on a funky connection etc. Also that model does it offer wireless like the 2640n? Turn it off if possible.

I'm using a B450 board with a Ryzen 2200G (with Vega 8 Graphics) The VGA output works in the BIOS and in Windows BEFORE I install drivers. I've googled this and it seems loads of people have been gotya'd. Annoyingly the ability seems to be there but is disabled (as it works before the driver) a lot of expensive devices still use VGA (hall projectors that are 30ft in the air and have 60ft cable runs that link to 4 points across the hall (as a hypothetical example :@) display walls etc. Another argument might be " The onboard graphics are supposed to be the budget solution, budget people reuse old equipment :("

ok, building a new PC for the Hall, needed to be a little peppy thought I'd build a budget Ryzen Build with Vega Graphics. A nice £234 build.. Anyhow after to Windows 10 installs various drivers and swearing I find out the unbelievable issue with Vega Graphics.... THEY DO NOT SUPPORT VGA! The board has a VGA port, it'll work in the BIOS it'll work in Windows UNTIL! you install the graphics driver.... The intentionally disable the ?LLVDA? support bricking the VGA output.. This is amazing to include a port that your not going to support... No support vs disabling the port.. I don't know but this is important to anyone purchasing new PCs that need VGA support for older displays. I foolishly assumed that as the mobo had a vga port that the graphics would support it... BTW to make this the best ever, no display port on this mobo, so I'll have to get one of those hit and miss hdmi to vga adapters.

if you pop a usb stick in the machine (fat 32, small one if you can find one) then go to replicated setup in the bios you can choose to replicate the current bios. this will save a file to the usb stick. Its just a text document that you can browse in plain text. (and alter)

I've just got a quote from the Daisy Group, 1Gbps for £600pm. Considering how rural we are £7.2k pa seemed pretty good. or 100Mbps over a gigabit line for £370

so, WOL is working but is loading the wrong boot item. I see from other posts that hard drive is selected for a WOL boot, maybe it's looking for an efi boot not a legacy? if you do a replicated bios (bios menu replicate) it'll save out text document to a usb stick, you maybe able to discern what its doing in that. (you can edit the document and replicate it back:) ) it's all plain text.

ha, I'm glad I bailed on doing the MACs this way, I have a local student account, then tell the kids to upload to their one drive. I only have 15 MACs though. Logic Pro 9 and X mix. p.s. I hate firewire.

I've seen in some NIC drivers that they can disable/ignore WOL on shutdown, also some behave this way if the don't allow this to wake the computer is checked. Both Driver things. EDIT some years ago (like a decade) I updated a suite of Fujitsu PCs with new NIC drivers and WOL stopped working I was surprised that a driver could stop WOL from working as it feels more low level than the OS. I'm assuming that the driver can pass instructions to the NIC that it obeys even after a power down. WOL is an issue for me anymore as now that I have a Unifi switching network WOL isn't supported! yay!

ok, 10.8.5 to high sierra, mac informs me I need a firmware update. Press the shutdown icon, type admin password, wait for power off. ok, I'm supposed to press the power button until a light or a sound happens.... This is where I can't follow. The INSTANT I press the powerbutton the PC fires up ok, but then it just boots back to the OS and gives me the same instructions? ok do it again.. this time ignore the mac powering on INSTANTLY and continue holding the button, so now the mac turns off, then a red light comes on inside, hold the button for a full minute....nothing else happens. ok short press and the mac boots back to the os (but now with the fans on full speed). same instructions. ffs tips?
