"The American Sniper" another American plot in Iraq, strong and powerful it delivers different points of emotional views. Central character Bradley Cooper (Chris Kyle) is very convincing in the role and is supported well by Sienna Miller (Wife). As for his Navy SEAL chums and his brother these are just bit parts played well by the actors and this enhances the overall theatre of the film. Well directed by Clint Eastwood, another convincing film about a true redneck American soldier doing his best at a difficult time, I do feel the character was softened in the film as to the real man himself who according to reports was a cold killer with very little emotion. I thoroughly enjoyed the film and would highly recommend Will be watching "Birdman" tonight with @webman

E-safety at our school is a teaching staff role and therefore beyond my remit as NM I only get involved by way of e-mail and internet reports or any IT misuse issues such as damage to IT computers which again is a report, these are then used to deal with the member of staff or student who has incurred the need for a report to be sanctioned in the first place. Above my paygrade I'm afraid

I would like to nominate my Cisco 3550 12G core switch, installed 2002 under a 10 year strategic development plan and is still going strong nearly 3 years after its required service date (nearly 13 years) plus all the other Cisco edge switches. Happy Day's

I too suffered from arachnophobia, how I got over it was to go to one of these animal fairs and slowly plucked up the courage to hold a wolf spider and man are they big mother's! I took the family too and the children held the spiders and the snakes too! You have to man up and take it to the next level bud or else your life will be owned by these 8 legged creatures which are after all, more afraid of you Go for it!

Samsung S4 with lollipop 5.0.1 rooted and synced with Google account, never fails me! I would wait until the release of the S6 (Brand new build) it is supposed to be the DB's Daughter has had IPhones for the past 4 years but they are so tightly controlled it took her 12 weeks to get it unblocked for all services an cost her money too even when we had asked for a pay as you go on all services (Guy at the phone shop sold us a pup). Nearly everyone I speak to has had problems with their phones whether it be IOS, Android or MS, to me you pays yer money and yer makes your choice depending on what you want to do with your phone. I personally would not take out another phone on contract, I will just buy a cheap huawei and a Sim only contract for around a tenner! Rip off's the lot of em!

I used to do a 10 year development plan with 3 and 5 yearly replacement hardware, OS and server platform increments (Dependent on OS/Server platform development) the last one I did involved the infrastructure i.e. fibre design of routes and implementation plus switch gear. Problem is if the SLT decide there is no money for any of this then it is purely a wish list or required only when everything goes south! Money is tight for most schools and the SLT's in these schools look at buildings, Staff, Students and then maybe IT as an after thought, trouble is this becomes a major problem for those members of staff whose job it is to maintain the ageing equipment. Our infrastructure is now 13 years old and the OS/Server platform with hardware is now nearly 7 years old with no sign of being updated in the near future because of financial restraints and it is causing me concern but no matter how you put this over to management they seem to think that the LA will always be there to take it over at the drop of a hat. Good luck to them is what I say, the LA can have it and I will just manage what they decide to move onto if anything. Apologies for having a little rant on a Monday but feeling a little lost atm.

Free Full Software AutoCad 2015 Master Suite
bossman replied to daneil16's topic in Educational Software
@daneil16: Just looking at the terms and conditions: Eligibility: You must be a public or non-profit educational institution / education organization (this includes grades K-12 and higher, vocational / trade schools, head start programs or other entities with educational purposes under 501© of the IRS Publication 557 - Organization Reference Chart section) or public library, operating in the United States (includes all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the territories of American Samoa, Guam, Marianas, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands) (the “Applicant”). Unfortunately we in the UK don't meet this criteria so how did you get past this? -
Can anyone give me a ballpark figure for the cost of a VLE?
bossman replied to witch's topic in Virtual Learning Platforms
@witch: WebAnyWhere do google docs integration block with SSO rather than 365 but I suppose they would be able to help you out with whatever. -
We too have had time out issues for the Staff and students, I feel it could be to do with our old UTM1000 box not able to cope with the increased demand of our school, unfortunately looks as though we might be going back to our LA for broadband and filtering (Bloxx) as I have been downgraded due to JRE which I have accepted on the proviso the school has to buy back all the SLA's we had with the LA before I was upgraded. Currently doing a full audit of our systems for meeting with the LA's IT people next week. Ho Hum!

ICT Direct, DPD and myself have at least one issue with parcel delivery or actually picking up something on the wrong day which was marked for pickup the following day and delivered to the wrong company hehe! Ask Dave, I think they eventually returned the goods to ICT Direct

@vikpaw: Daft question? Have you run the validation tool?

@mrbios: Have you looked at a hybrid NAS rather than a SAN? Have you considered https://www.synology.com/en-us/company/news/article/427 We have had one for around a year now just for storage but just recently put 2 VMs on to test and so far not a problem, you can set them up with a mix of SSD for caching and HDD for storage, Might be worth a look as we now hve 32TB storage for approx £4.5k looking into a couple of hybrid systems now purely for VMs and replication. Worth a try

Hi all, Scenario: We have a teacher from another school coming in to teach some of our students photography as part of a curriculum course, they have asked for version 11 to be installed in one of the IT suites as this is what they have in their school. To accommodate this member of staff I have purchased version 11 software from one of our suppliers but purchased the licensing through our EES licensing supplier. Problem: The licensing is not backwards compatible only to the last version, as Adobe Photoshop Elements is now version 13 I am being told that we can only install version 12 which is the one down. Surely I can install an older version and request that license key for that version can I not (As we are the customer and we have purchased it) or am I totally wrong here. I just wanted the teacher to be comfortable using the version they use at their own school. Hopefully someone else has been down this route with Adobe and wouldn't mind shedding some light on the situation please? Thanks in advance

@woreilly: Have you tried the usual suspects: http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH38608 BE 12.5 SBS Premium - Jobs fail with E00084F4 Unknown Error | Symantec Connect Backup Exec 2010 Weekly job failure, error code: E00084F4 Hope you find it amongst this lot BE 12.5 has been one of the more stabler versions, I too get the odd problem with the full weekly backup but not this error mine has to do with the Autoloader a I still haven't resolved yet which is most annoying but as it completes the backup to disk function first I still have a respective backup. Good Luck

@Trapper: I have a license for a shotgun but that doesn't give me the right to go around shooting people or things randomly as that would be breaking the law now wouldn't it?

@Sheridan: It is not up to you to make the decision as to whether staff disregard digital rights AUP's or copyrighted material usage but your HT should be informed by either yourself or your line manager as to the consequences of such actions by staff and what liabilities the school will suffer for not having a proper procedure and policy in place. i.e. I think it could be on here about a school being fined heavily for use of a "Getty" image so I would have this pointed out to all Staff with no exceptions. It is a misconception that schools can do what they want with whatever they find as long as the name the ownership details in the document or video or whatever! That is our take on it and some staff as ever try it on every time as if the answer will change but I just let my line manager deal with it as its above my paygrade. First stop Line manager then HT.
