@spr Totally! Its great and we are nearly 100% clients and servers now just a few more clients to rollout (approx 70) The interface has been changed and looks really neat although I feel it is a work in progress it suits our needs and it is free! Highly recommend

@tj2419 Good stuff, it might help @The_IT_Guy out rather than having to build the laptop onto the network, we have this enabled for remote access with delegated user types on our RDP server.

@Liam I used to run a coffee and cake meeting for staff to drop in and voice their opinions as to what would make their use of IT more valuable, I found that if you offer the staff something for nothing then they will attend if it is to their benefit. It worked very well and we followed this up with video helpdesk outlining various IT activities which Staff felt they needed more help with. Once this was in place it seemed to take root and the Staff just pass on the learning to new members of Staff as they come in which is very effective. If we come across a certain problem which has been replicated in a few requests we make a video which covers this and how to overcome this and Staff love it. Inevitably you get the few members of Staff who don't attend any meetings at all even SLT ones as they feel they know everything! (Poor souls) P.S. Marks and Spencer's do a great line in Cakes and Coffee which the staff love. Good luck

We looking towards a "Hybrid" solution which will allow a reasonable cost for us which will be sustainable over the next 10 years with 2 x 5 year refreshments of backend hardware (If required) utilizing one of the cloud based solutions for VM's mirroring and GAFE, giving us the best of both worlds, as @loculzuk has stated "Its the way in which schools work" currently the "Cloud" is not cost effective for us at the moment but eventually when the time comes I feel education will definitely move into the cloud fulltime as costs are driven down. We are moving some of our services to the cloud, E-mail, Website and VLE plus document storage and collaboration, Sims will over the next 5 years become web based and therefore this will be moved to a centralised hosted solution which will probably be managed by Capita. Our LEA tried a few years back to move all our services to the cloud, 53,000 VDI solution which unfortunately for them failed to materialise as "Latency" issues due to flash and other video problems. Money is the key factor I feel for the moment. I don't have much longer left to work and probably won't see the school move completely into the cloud but who knows?

another 4Matrix here, didn't have a choice was just told we had purchased and it required setting up, now setup and awaiting the Data Manager to work out how to use it. I mentioned it would be so much easier for them and us if it was web based but it fell on deaf ears, Was easy to setup and deploy to clients.

I would not think so as it would require the laptop to be built onto the network first and the RMCC4 console deployed to this laptop and the user to be part of the delegated user type to be able to use it. Its the way the software integrates with the Postgres backend on the DC as to who has the rights to actually run the RMMC and this would not in principal allow just any user to use the console. This are just my thoughts from experiencing RMCC4 and how it works in principal.

@Vegas Yeah I lived down in Barnsley (South Yorkshire) for 8 years in a little place called Grimethorpe (Famous for it's brass band) and most of the people there had their Yorkshire Puddings first with onion gravy and sometimes mince. When that was eaten you would then get a plate of dinner with little Yorkshire puddings on. Lovely

James Martin has on many occasions throughout his Saturday Morning Kitchen series demonstrated the proper way to make a Yorkshire Pudding and I have also followed this to the letter and it is indeed the best method I have found. As for the Gravy well he also states that you use the juices from the roast with water added (scrape the bits off the bottom as you stir) and thicken with a little corn flour and that is all that is required, tastes heavenly! Got to be a proper size roast as he states which will set you back around £30 - £40 but will feed an army! Hungry anyone?

@RobD As @webman says we have the full enterprise version and for the price per year it is worth its weight in Gold @AliG Same here Iv'e found it invaluable for these but also for deploying software which requires more than one step to install. Excellent piece of deployment software.

@colly72 We are currently looking into Hyper-V platform with 2 mirrored Synolgy back end NAS storage devices with SSDs for our VM's, as we already have a Synlogy unit with 32TB storage Raid 6 it will enable us to future proof with Offline Draas using a wealth of online solutions such as Azure, AmazonS3 or Private solutions from local Data centres so we can spin up VM's in the cloud for our BRP. @dhicks Same thoughts here, hope all is well with you?

@NerdNamedMatt It would also be advisable if possible to make it web based for future proofing, depending on the database requirements this shouldn't present too much of a problem. Plenty of web developers out there who would look at this for you but as you have stated you will have to look deeper into the program to find out exactly what it does, maybe the guy who wrote it could help?

@bodminman We use Synology NAS here https://www.synology.com/en-uk/products/RS3614xs+ this particular model is the one we use with full complement of 4TB drives gives us 34TB formatted storage carved up into 3 x 11TB Luns for Data Storage plus VM storage plus 1 x 1TB Lun for other stuff. All for £4k with 5 year warranty as standard excellent value me thinks. We are looking to invest in 2 more of the newer version of this model as they now support 8TB drives, you can also mix SSD's and SATA together which is super cool for those VM's requiring fast caching and IOP's. Worth looking at

@Michael I use PDQ deploy which costs approx £250 per year for the license and just does what it says on the tin for deployment of all our runtime engines and little fiddly stuff which requires constant updates. Select your runtime app point at the workstations which are automatically brought in by linking the program to your AD and then make sure all your workstations are on and deploy on mass, 10 mins later bingo! latest runtime engine installed. The company update all the runtime engines for free immediately on release and put other meaningful apps in the database. I would definitely recommend very highly.
