@wizard210 We use WDS along with WSUS and I too have wondered about SCCM being overkill, I am at the moment trialing PDQ deploy enterprise for all our runtime and third party apps, it does look good for the annual cost. Will better know tomorrow when a full roll out of Adobe shockwave latest version to all our workstations along with all the other Adobe runtime engines and Java. I know SCCM is more or less free with an EES agreement but you still pay for the cals if my memory serves but for third party runtime engines and apps PDQ looks like a winner for us. @Arreks: Adobe Form Central but I have moved it to another https://www.cognitoforms.com/ its all free unless you use charging for any element of your forms. Excellent products but unfortunately Adobe are closing down their online forms solution in July this year.

@mdrabble: We have been using one of these with 4TB drives but the latest models support 8TB drives x24 which gives you plenty of storage and you can rack them up easy peasy and you can also hybrid them using SSDs for the caching and SATA for the data storage, so versatile and fast. https://www.synology.com/en-global/products/RS3614xs+ Excellent product and we did ours for around £4K

We are all Win 7 since Feb 2009 looking towards this summer for upgrade path to Windows 10 if feasible. Full VMware or Hyper-V on 3 new hosts with new server 2012R2 platform or even server 10 and 3 Synology hybrid storage systems 2 in tandem for the VM's and one for data storage. Big project but hey its not going to be me doing it but the LEA or a third party so no stress since JRE sweet..............

@ccadit: Too many questions for staff to be bothering with so they won't fill the survey in, Here is a finished adobe form from a questionnaire which is live and attached to our closed tickets reply so the staff receive a link in their closed ticket reply. I did use to have numerous questions but from experience I learned to keep it short and simple which I feel is best and you do get the staff responding once they realise it is in their best interest.

I know this is a VMware v Hyper-V thread but could I just chuck Xenserver into the mix, its free (Open Source) very small footprint and basically has all the features for free, the only thing you have to pay for is the support if you want it, £400 per 2 socket host. I have been running for 6 years now and had only one incident which could have happened on any Hypervisor. Linux based it supports all linux based VM's and also all Microsoft Server's and client VM's up to date on version 6.2.0 Shared storage ISCSI or SMB3 plus NTFS and many more Just wondering is all on what other peoples views are if they have any?

Has the user got enough unused space as part of their profile? Have they got the rights to that dir to read and write?

+1 Aerohive, been using for over 2 years with no problems at all once configured, contact a company called LAN3 and they will do full heat analysis of your school and run tests prior to quoting, they will then install and configure to your strategic plans and away you go, support was excellent having only used it once, down to my lack on knowledge on updating the AP's which was child's play once shown. Training is also free for one person for 2 days at their place. Can't say anymore than that

Pretty lucky really, never been in Hospital since I was 14 years old and that was for 2 broken legs, my mother on the other hand has been into hospital on numerous occasions and to be honest she was treated atrociously, I will not name the hospital as the whole trust has been under close scrutiny by the medical equivalent of Ofsted, I did fill out a complaints form and received an apology from the Trust but it seems they are still having trouble managing the hospitals under their care. Private healthcare seems 100% better in its NHS form me feels and these PM forms are just that, intrusive and not a fair indication of some of the hospitals who do care.

An SLA works both ways to ensure that the end process is as smooth and efficient as possible, it is not just the techs that should have to conform to the KPI's but also the staff. Staff must do XYZ before the IT staff do ABC and if this process is adhered to then the process will be effective. This must be agreed by both parties beforehand and the SLT must be the ones to implement the whole process with KPI's for both parties involved. I feel that if you have these processes in place from the outset then your workload may become easier, it should in practice curtail all the extra's which the staff put on the IT dept which are not necessary, key is to get the line drawn at where the IT support stops and the training for the Staff starts. Galaxy S4 Rooted & Cyanogenmod 12 installed, Been a great phone for the last 2 years, have no intention of upgrading contract as I can get a Sim only deal for £12.50 PM Unlimited Data, Text and phone calls from Vodafone so don't really see the point of new phone for the foreseeable future unless something really takes my eye, will purchase outright and use with Sim only contract. So far nothing has taken my fancy

It will also create a valid market for the Windows phones and bring them bang up to date with the IOS and Android market, I feel it could be a very smart move by Microsoft. If Cyanogen's latest releases are anything to go by (Running their version 12 Android lollipop 5.0.2) it should be fun
