As the title says! Has anyone got any ideas how I can do this? Obviously SCCM can inject Windows updates into the WIM, or even apply them during the OSD but I'm honestly not sure how to shove all existing Office updates down. The last piece of the Windows 10 deployment puzzle for us

Bit of an odd one this. Trying to image a laptop to Win 10 (using sccm here) and everything goes swimmingly during the WinPE phase: the NIC uses the driver on the boot disk and later on installs the driver into the Windows installation. However, as soon as the machine reboots into full Windows the NIC disappears. When I look in device manager it says that the device is not connected. The drivers are all present and correct. Any ideas?

Hey all, not entirely sure if this is the right thread. I'm relatively new to App-V, and I'm trying to get a better understanding of streaming in SCCM 2012 (App-V 5.1). I've packaged up Adobe CS6, and it works fine. However, I'm trying to run it by streaming it from the server. When I press to install it, I was expecting it to stream it from the server and only download the parts I require. But unfortunately it seems to cache it all in C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\App-V\etc and then seems to stream it in C:\Users\%Username%\AppData. I feel this takes up too much time and I guess I'm not streaming it properly. Could someone point me in the right direction as I'm sure I'm missing something obvious. Rough steps I've taken: - Created the App-V Package - Put App-V Package into SCCM (app-v 5 option). - Went into the properties and changed it from the download option to stream. - Deploy package (available) to testing group - On client I install package. The only thing I can think of is the deploy package available - does this have to be required? Any suggestions/ideas?

Having successfully built machines via SCCM for the last 18 months, today PXE booting a machine starts the WDS interface. How do I troubleshoot this? We applied the latest Windows updates last night - could that be the issue?

Hi All, I am looking for some advice, I have installed a new SCCM 2012 R2 server and am trying to push the SCCM client out to a couple of test machines, all running Win7 Enterprise, however, the install doesn't seem to be successful. Can anyone point me in the direction of what I haven't done? Thanks!

Hi guys, A bit of a strange one. We have some new E6440s with 256GB SK Hynix SSDs in. I have created an image etc and task sequence for these. But each time I run the task sequence it gets stuck on the "Partition Disk" step. The sequence doesnt fail, it just hangs on "Formatting Volume #". The hard drive light is not lit on the laptop which makes me think its not doing anything. I have tried a few other drivers and it happens on all of them. I have upgraded the firmware which hasn't resolved anything. I have used diskpart to clean & partition, and it appears that after creating a new partition on the drive it switches the drive off as it cant be found, and then comes back on and works as normally. Anyone else had this?

I just go into an EES agreement that allows me to use SCCM. I'm wondering if SCCM is overkill for a small school district that has roughly 600 computers. Currently We use WDS to create an image and deploy. The base image has all the software on it that we need.

Hey everyone! So, I'm dealing with an issue here and am hoping everyone may be able to help me figure out what happened as I work through it. Have been using SCCM for several years now for reimaging machines, both as bare-metal installs and refreshes of current machines. However, we purchased several hundred machines this past school year, which we ended up imaging via a flash drive created in SCCM via the bootable media tool along with a USB to Ethernet adapter. The flash drive didn't contain the actual image, but only served as a means to connect the machine back to the server via the USB to Ethernet adapter. No problem there...until this school year. We reimaged all of these machines this Summer and I'm finding that many are having trust related issues as many seem to have the wrong computer name (many a name that belongs to another machine). I've never run into this before I think I know the answer, but am just looking for confirmation. I use a variable within my SCCM task sequence that can pick up that computer name and, while imaging, give the technician the option to take the old name or enter a new one. Since these machines all are named already, we typically just skip this option and use the old name. So, my question...how exactly does SCCM remember the computer name when reimaging? My theory is that since we used the same USB Ethernet adapters between several machines, SCCM used the MAC address of the adapter itself instead of something on the machine to remember the computer name and that is why I'm running into the issue of the same computer name on multiple machines... I realized there isn't much I can do at this point other than wait for my student users to bring there computers to me (it's a 1 to 1 program we recently initiated) and unjoin them from the domain, correctly name the computer, and then rejoin the machine, but just looking for confirmation of the issue so I know what to avoid next time we reimage the laptops. Thoughts? Thanks in advance!

Hello Edugeekers, I am having an issue with getting Bitlocker to run and encrypt the drive during a a Windows 10 deployment. I am using UI++ with what appears to be the correct script lines; "%ZZBitLocker%". Also have 'Bitlocker enabled' as a part of the SCCM deployment, but cannot get anywhere with it. All help appreciated Thanks, Dan

I recently upgraded my SCCM server to Server 2016 and SCCM to 1802 and my PXE boot no longer worked. I went through the normal procedure of resetting it by removing the PXE option on the distribution point etc. etc. The problem I have is that after rebooting the server WDS is reinstalled even though the PXE option is not on in the DP. Even if I remove WDS using the Add/Remove Rolls on reboot it's back and reinstalled. Due to this when ever I PXE boot I get an incorrect BCD error as it is looking in the folders installed by WDS in RemoteInstall instead of the ones generated by SCCM. No matter what I do WDS is always reinstalled. Any thoughts?

Hi All, Looking for some advice, got a new SCCM 2012 R2 server patched to CU4. I've currently got a boot file for WinPE for Windows 10 images, however, we need to deploy a small Windows 7 to a small number of devices which are not supported on Windows 10. Is there a way to have four boot files: 2 for Windows 7 (x64 and x86) 2 for Windows 10 (x64 and x86) Thanks in advance!

I have just successfully built a classroom of Dell Optiplex 3020's - with two exceptions, which report a media failure. I can log onto the network on these machines, and successfully browse the network, so the cable is fine. They have the same network cards as the machines sitting next to them, but I re-imported the drivers into the boot image, just to be sure. Still no joy. I then noticed that the two affected machines were on BIOS version A07, the successful ones were on A03. So I first upgraded the BIOS to A08 on one - no joy. I then downgraded the BIOS to A03 and it worked - I could PXE boot So I downgraded the other machines BIOS to A03 - and it still doesn't PXE boot. Any idea what I could try next?

Hello all, To begin with, sorry if I'm doing something wrong, rookie here + apprentice. Our trust is looking to purchase some newer devices for teaching staff, and we're looking towards the eventuality where devices no longer come equipped with Ethernet ports. I understand that USB-C to Ethernet adapters exist, but as far as my understanding goes, these adapters all come equipped with their own MAC address? Are there any of these adapters that allow the MAC address to be "passed through?" As in, adopt the MAC address of the host device? Or alternatively, is there something that can be done with an existing dongle to make it pass through the right MAC address? Our concern is that the device would be registering on SCCM via the MAC address of the USB-C dongle and not the MAC address of the device itself. Any and all insight would be helpful. Thanks!

Those that have ditched deploying captured WIMs in favour of a full task sequence approach, what windows tweaks/settings etc. do you deploy as part of the TS? Little things like This PC rather than Quick Access etc. My captured image is now super thin to the point I really do not need to be capturing a reference image anymore. I just want it to go OS > updates > software > customisation etc. in one nice thorough task sequence. We do not have Intune and we cannot afford to do so, so we're stuck with SCCM even for deployed laptops (I know I know, it's shocking, but I don't call the shots...). Thanks!

I am trying (and failing) to deploy some of the Autodesk software - 2015 versions (so we can use 32 and 64 bit versions) I've created the deployment package using the Autodesk software and it has even give me the sccm deployment command. .\Img\Setup.exe /W /q /I Img\Inventor2014.ini /language en-us However.... when I try and deploy it as part of a TS it fails with error 1603 (which is presumably one of the MSI components) but I cannot find which one. Anyone else had issues deploying Autodesk software? Cheers

I have set a task sequence to run a powershell script. I have created a package and put the file in that package. I have created a task sequence to run the powershell with that package and set the permission to bypass. If I manually go to the UNC path and run the script it works fine. Software Center is saying it installed correctly and while it runs it comes up with the status message saying running powershell script. Any ideas how to troubleshoot this?

Hi all, New to this forum and indeed SCCM. I have managed to setup a one site SCCM deployment. 'Application' deployments seem to be working fine and as expected. All clients will Windows 7 64 bit. I am still testing things at the moment. My latest application to be installed is PDF Creator. I have installed this via a 'manual scripted' method as an 'Application'. This seems to install fine on the test clients. As far as I am aware there is no official MSI for this program, so I thought I'd try to uninstall the software, via the following .cmd script: "C:\Program Files (x86)\PDFCreator\unins000.exe" /verysilent /SUPPRESSMSGBOXES /NORESTART This works fine when run manually but I cannot seem to get it working via SCCM. I have searched the net and there has been discussion about batch scripts and system rights, etc. Perhaps it's something to do with 'what folder the script needs to execute? Can someone please let me know, the full and proper procedure using SCCM 2012 to uninstall this program. Many thanks.

I can't get Toshiba A9 laptops to build via PXE, so I thought I would build a media set and build them from DVD, until I get a chance to troubleshoot the PXE issue. So I've built a Task Sequence Media set, which runs over 3 DVDs. The system boots successfully from disk 1, formats the drive, then fails. Looking at the logs it's looking for the default wim image. The problem is, that image is on DVD 2, and it hasn't asked me to change disks. Have I missed something?

I'm attempting to get bitlocker to work within a task sequence. I've tested that the machine will bitlocker manually, and then hit my first issue - once a machine is "bitlockered" how do you rebuild it? I'm getting an error at the beginning of the task sequence, as there is no room for any files to write to the c drive. It's not even hitting my "disable bitlocker" task. I've used diskpart to wipe the drive for my testing, but we can't do that in production. Is there a way of automatically running a diskpart script before the task sequence is started?

My SCCM installation has been working fine all summer, deployed all workstations, applications etc but this week deployments have been failing after formatting the disc and before applying the WIM. Nothing has been changed other than some new packages added. I've looked at the logs and can see errors 0x80070002 and from looking at this error it could possibly be an issue with my network access account. I reset the password, checked the account isn't locked and I have also removed and re-added the account in SCCM and verified it. From one of the failed workstations, I can ping the FQDN of the sccm server and I can also map a drive to the server using the SCCM Account. All TS and images have been deployed and distributed. Anyone any others ideas I can try? Cheers Mark smsts.txt

Morning all Is there any easy way to get SCCM 2012 R2 to push out our Windows 7 64 Bit image across to the boot camp part of a Mac? Obviously we would have to add the Boot Camp drivers afterwards but I really don't want to have to do a clean Windows 7 install as it'll take forever!

Hi, We have upgraded SCCM 2012 SP1 to SCCM 2012 R2. We have created a new Tasksequence to Build and Capture Windows 8.1 image and have deployed to unknown Collections. We Have 1 CAS , 1 Primany and 1 Secondary in our Enviroment. We have Craeted a Dynamic Boot media . When we Boot the VM with Boot media , we get a Error "there are no task Sequence Available for the Computers" . we have tried this in many machiens . even tried deploying the TS to existing Collections and rthe same issue. please suggest. thanks

An update is available for the "Operating System Deployment" feature of System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Manager This hotfix fixes the issue of SCCM OSD when you have the deployment set to download and run locally opposed to access directly from the server. If you've upgraded to 2012R2 and found that OSD is a lot slower on the "Downloading X ...." parts of the task sequence this is why.

I am trying to migrate 2 collections from my configmgr 2007 r3 environment across to configmgr 2012 and am running into issues. I have previously migrated collections that are at the root of my collection structure in 2007 r3 and now have moved onto collection at lower levels. The collections I am trying to migrate fit into the structure like this: When creating the migration job I select 2 collections I want to migrate, untick the "migrate objects assiocated with the specified collections", choose the default security scope and the next until the end of the wizard. I leave the "transfer the organisational folder structure for objects from configmgr 2007 to the destination side" box ticked and run the job. The jobs runs. I've got a folder for "Riddlesdown Collegiate", a folder for "Desktops", 2 collections (S05-RM035 and S07-RM037) and 2 random clients that are not in the collections I have chosen to migrated. None of the clients that are in those 2 collections appear to have migrated across. All the collections in 2007 r3 are populated using LDAP queries against AD, I have checked that the 2 random clients that have been migrated are not present in the OUs nor the collections. If I migrate a collection that is at the root level, it migrates fine along with the clients in that respective collection. Does anybody have any ideas?

Hi, so SCCM obviously supports multicast (and can much more than rolling out images with a simple Norton ghost(cast)) - great. So, if I have several computer rooms with different images I can give each room its own multicast address and upload images concurrently - which is now done once each semester. But what about the following: During a semester calls are coming in telling me that they need some special software X and Y in pool Z until tomorrow (. Sometimes that software has tons of gigabyte. So, there basically two possibilites: take the image of that pool, add that software and multicast the whole image from beginning (problem, some images have 80GB+ of software integrated). Second step, add that software via SCCM not step by step (==unicast) but with multicast. So, is this even possible? Some other question: In world of SCCM, is there a kind of additional auto speed negotiation between multicast sender and receiver (Yes, that´s not TCP but UDP traffic I know...)? For now, I only know software where I can limit throughput on the the source. Michael
