    Toners

We purchase compatible toners from Quality Office Supplies and Stationery Supplies - CCL Office the office supplies company, Gateshead, Newcastle Upon Tyne
  3. We use a mixture of students can bring in their own headphones, but we also have some suites which includes headphones but these are collected and packed away at the end of each lesson.
  4. I'll be atternding a small conference in Preston on Wednesday. The rest of the week will be spent either cracking on through some of the nigglign jobs on the helpdesk that could have waiting for these holidays or working on my CSBM (Certificate of School Business Management) project.
  5. Hi Darren Is this with version 1.4? We use 1.3 currently and nobody has mentioned anything, but I was going to roll out 1.4 next week.
  6. I have a link and logo on our VLE for students to access. I can't tell you how many sales we have had, but I do remember a credit note coming from RM either last year or the year before with our 5% of sales.
  7. My own personal opinion would be the workstation route. Our staff all have laptops, but as a lot of staff don't 'own' a room and may teach in a number of bases across a day it was felt packing, unpacking, packing, unpacking the laptops a) wasn;t the best use of teacher time and b) more chance of damage with the staff carrying them all over school.
  8. Just as a forewarning - I got a message from our Exams Manager yesterday. We are running some french exams using this software tomorrow and they have advised us not to install the latest version of the software until after June 1st. This message was passed to us via a telephone conversation from the exam board. I'm not sure what the consequences are if the update has been ran. Supposedly the update is optional and you are to choose not to install if prompted.
  9. Excellent point. We send things on the odd occasion when things slip through the net, but the more schools that do this - the more benefit we all receive.
  10. Just don't tell Tallan he has been removed - and he owes £50 for the late cancellation fee - we could then have a real slap-up meal on his behalf )
  11. Our LA were one of the 2 or 3 to manage this themselves with no school involement. We pushed it in our schools newsletters and through our PSA's and Transition workers at our feeder primaries - I just wonder how many of our students benefited from the scheme.
  12. We had a school twitter account, but a directive from the Head of the LA CYPS team said no school should utilise social networking sites such as twitter and facebook. We found it a fantastic way to publicise school awards, sports results, school closures etc and worked really well with our School Website. Something we don't agree with but we have of course removed our accounts
  13. Our LA mobile contracts are all through Vodafone. The caretakers, and other various support staff (PSA's, Extended Schools Co-ordinator, Transition Worker) as well as the bookable 'school trips' phone have a basic handset. The headteacher, Deputy Head and School Business Manager have blackberries. We get sufficient contracts that a lot of inclusive minutes as well as data charges are included - not so much texts.
  14. We use spotlight on windows here also - it does crash every so often but generally a good bit of something for free.
  15. Been out a couple of times on day trips here and there, but I tend to give the Technician first chance whether he wants to go or not - more often than not he goes.
  16. It's alright I suppose
  17. It's still on for next Thursday up to now - I certainly haven't heard any different.
  18. Thanks. Kent LA always seem to be ahead of the game with regards to e-safety.
  19. We have come across the same limitations as you descrive - but staff and students still continue to use it happily. If an update was to be released that would be really beneficial especially for the odd user that doesn't follow the instructions that I have added to the webpart page.
  20. same here - staff and students have taken too it really quickly and it is the umbrella where all of our services fit within - helpdesk, booking system, shared area, teaching resources, school policies, access to webmail, sims web parts etc.
  21. I've recently had demos of both Oliver and Eclipse .net and from initial thoughts I much prefer the look and feel as well as the features of Eclipse .net @zag - if you were to host it yourself internally your looking at about £3.5k
  22. We got somebody from the LA in to our school to train all of our governors on the staffing committee, there was noway we could expect some of them to use a computer never mind sitting still for 4 hours! If I get the time I may complete this myself.
  23. Thanks. Some interesting results but certainly no shocks.
  24. Check this post out - it should be just about what your after. http://www.edugeek.net/forums/how-do-you-do/31785-free-youtube-server.html
  25. Have a look at FILMCLUB - Homepage They will provide films for your film club free of charge. With regards to the PRS licence - if your school does not have a PRS licence when signing up they will purchase one for you on your behalf - also free of charge I believe.
