I am sure they offer visualisation as an option for CC4 - I would guess they have not spent the time or money or CC3 and virtualisation - so they will not support it. I don't see why it wouldn't work however.

We have 5 missing - could have done with another 95 though )

Hand picked members across the school from various departments - we originally had it as a voluntary thing but the people ideally I wanted in the group weren't the ones that were selected / chosen by the Head of Department. Through the group we launch new initiatives and I pass them by this working party of 8 members of staff before I go live with it across the school - any volunteers within the group can also trial things before everybody else - it helps drive things within departments as well as iron out any bugs before it goes across the whole school. We now have dedicated e-Learning time of 6 hour insets split across the school year - this allows all staff to sign up for something they are interested in learning more about - this time can also be used by staff to actually spend time creating a resource as we found in the past the major stumbling block for staff was actually having the time to put things into practice as we all know the "gained" time when year 11 and sixth form leave is usually soaked up with some other whole school initiative. I intend to create a student e-learning group similar to the above through representatives of the student council - I want to hear the views of the students as what they would like to see in their lessons and to hear what they thing works well and their ideas on how we can improve the service / facilities we have across the school - this I think will have a great impact on e-Learning across the school through pupil voice. Any questions, give me a shout.

Promethean sell through resellers now - I don't think you can go direct anymore. I have used Redirect in the past for pens etc - they will probably have the cable you require.

I've been away for a week or so and just logged onto Edugeek this morning. I noticed when I clicked on the 'new posts' option it stated that it was showing pages 1 / 5 at the top right hand corner of the page - which I thought was odd as I assumed they would be a lot more posts. After I had read the first page, I then clicked on next and then the counter moved up to 2 / 6 until I eventually read all 15 pages. I could be wrong, but I imagine it should have showed 1 / 15 initially the 2 / 15, 3 / 15 etc.

We use a Smoothwall UTM 1000 and segregate our wireless network away from our standard Curriculum network. All AP's are on this network and Smoothwall deals with DHCP. I have created business size cards with a map of the school on one side with the school layout and indications of the WAP across the school and the opposite side has the security key - we don't use AD integration etc unfortunately but this is something we will look at in the future. The filtering is carried out using our Smoothwall box also which allows us to provide access to our students and guests to the sites we wish them to have access too. Students / Staff can access their MyDocuments via the Schools Learning Gateway (Sharepoint) and the Salamander MyDocuments webpart.

I don't check Edugeek whilst at work so often have 5 or 6 pages to browse through when I get home. I tend to just click on the New Posts link and take it from there.

All staff are getting a hot cross bun and hot chocolate here tomorrow morning - would rather have a creme egg though

I am about to relaunch our e-Learning Steering Group - if this is similar to what you are putting in place?

The Save option should be within the Student license or at least it is in our copy. I only believe the print option to be unavailable within the student release.

We get the same error as above - it seems to be a well reported problem via google and not just for AUP informant.

Report writing - Sims Profiles or?? (something idiot proof )
Sylv3r replied to sakwoya's topic in MIS Systems
SIMS profiles is good but certainly not idiot proof. The writing of reports is part of all teachers job descriptions or at least should be part of their terms and conditions. Would it be easier to have templates setup on a shared area and teachers type the students reports into the particular section of the template - sounds very crude but it may work in your smallish school. -
We provide them with e-mail addresses here, they wouldn't be able to do their job properly if we didn't as the majority of communication is now done via e-mail. The trays in the staff room are now used for external mail coming into the school only.

Something like this I would imagine would work on a pull down screen - but it would need setting up calibrating before use everytime. http://www.mimio.com/global/em/index.asp

Our head syncs her calendar with her PDA and outlook which also allows her PA access to her up-to-date calendar at all times.

We often have issues with our feeder primary students who visit the school before they join us in Year 7's. I am not sure whether its the size of their fingers or just the nervous kids may just have sweaty fingers!

Another vote for this option from me.

We have the older content and staff like it - the newer content and solution looks better but I couldn't justify the new cost as a lot of the videos will be duplicated from what we already have!

D-D-Tape Solution Off the top of my head I can't remember exactly how much data is backed up. We used to use BackupExec but have sinced move to Yosemite Backup Solution as it was more cost effective then purchasing additional BackupExec agents for new servers. Differential Mon - Thur Full Backup Fri Half Term a full backup is also taken.
