Sounds like you will go from one extreme to the other. Difficulty is based on perspective and it reads like you'd need to deliver some hands on training edu specific, in the same way you'd do safeguarding. This should be backed up with some elearning and testing, Ideally aligned with the schools policies, so that you can log that all staff are aware of what the school expects from them. You'd want bitesize/half day sessions aimed at slt, teaching staff, office staff maybe even IT, all tailored.

There are lots of training materials/courses for this I would be skeptical if if worked purely as e-learning. Really a face to face or blended delivery (either external trainer or the DPO) should be pulling in as mandatory. It reads like you are looking for an LMS.

This is quite a common thing that seems to be happening in a few schools that I work with. You should be involved with the process as a key member of the support staff, but ultimately no formal responsibility relating to the DPO's role can be pushed to you. Does your SBM need to chat with someone who knows schools and DP/GDPR? It sounds like they don't fully comprehend what they are doing....An external person with credibility in this field might have an impact. I had a call a couple of days ago where the NM being pushed in to the role...BONKERS!!! In a lot of cases the biggest issue is that senior members of the school simply don't understand data. It's not dissimilar to the Zuckerberg interview the other day, the top level of management are making poor decisions and asking the wrong questions because they just don't understand the field. There aren't that many differences at the MCSA level between 2012 and 2016. If you aren't currently certified you should probably go for 2016.

There is a consultant that goes out to schools that I was recommended. He charges a day rate and comes out to schools to deliver tailored GDPR session that you can pull different people in to depending on their role; SLT, IT, Office staff etc. Happy to pass on his details if you want them?
