Thanks and to be honest getting the heave ho did me a favour. After the person who originally hired me all that time ago retired the department started going through his replacements like smarties.

Guess what ? Got made redundant from last place.... 12 years done and dusted - now working for Kyocera. Hope everyone who remembers me is doing ok.

Lots of things have changed - I am still with the company I moved to from the school - and because of the current pandemic we are mega mega busy shipping out the vaccines among with the usual other stuff. . I don't travel anymore ( not that you really can now ) and I no longer run the team - I am now in IT Security. Got very frustrated trying to run a global team of people so moved into IT Security which is much better. Work from home 99% of my time which makes it much easier for me, the family and the dog...... I am not a full blown IT Security Analyst as i do not have any of the qualifications etc - so generally used just for being an old fart which has worked in IT for a long time.....

Nice to see the site is still helping people - hope everyone is safe and healthy.

WordPress - Auto login from IP address / addresses
mattx replied to mattx's topic in Web Development
Hi Steve, can you enter more than one IP in there as I would need to enter about 30 ( would they need to be in an array or just listed as individual addresses ? ) Also where is this done - in the htaaccess ? Not bothered about the plugin if this method works, I would just need the correct code and where you would make this change. -
WordPress - Auto login from IP address / addresses

Hi Steve, it's a public site ( Intranet ) which at the moment to logon requires the username and password. Management only want this for if someone wants to access it when they are not in an office. When they are in an office then they want users to be able to go to the site without having to sign in - so basically a trusted IP address / addresses. I had a plugin working before which did this - https://10up.com/plugins/restricted-site-access-wordpress/ but this no longer works on the latest version of WordPress - 4.7 -
WordPress - Auto login from IP address / addresses

I did think of that but I've been informed users need to go straight in ( as they were before ) which is rather annoying. -
Ver of Wordpress - 4.7 Trying to find a plugin ( that actually works ) - the will allow users to auto login from a list of IP addresses ( so no login - straight to the front page ) Any other IP address that is not listed it will ask for login details. I was using this and it worked great - https://10up.com/plugins/restricted-site-access-wordpress/ But now it seems there is not much development taking place on it as it does not work correctly on the updated Word Press. Would appreciate any ideas / plugins / pointers to solve this.....

Yep - worked a treat - my file: "/vmfs/volumes/Backup_Data_Store/New Virtual Machine/New Virtual Machine-2016-01-20_15-19-23;/vmfs/volumes/DATA_STORE_02;4;TEST-RESTORE" Did not need to import it as it was already in the list of devices after the restore. The only thing it asked was how it got there when it was powered up - so I responded that I copied it.

I was thinking if that was possible - I'll try that in the morning - thanks. - - - Updated - - - I shall also try this - thanks for the advice - appreciate it. I'll update the thread when I'm done.

I have those instructions printed off ;-) I simply don't understand them. Will give it another crack tomorrow.

Thanks - would appreciate any pointers on this.

Backing up VMs on a few ESXi boxes to a NFS share I have worked out and even automated using plink and a scheduled task however on reading up on how to restore a VM just adds layers of confusion so I'm wondering if I'm barking up the wrong tree here but do I need a list file with the names in and if I do what format do I need them in ( TXT ? ) - the guide is next to useless and not very clear. I have a backed up VM on a NFS share in a file called: [backup_Data_Store] New Virtual Machine/New Virtual Machine-2016-01-20_15-19-23 I want to restore this on a different data store I have created called: [DATA_STORE_02] The switch options are -c which is the backup list, -l for logging and -d for the dry run. How do I specify what data store I want it recovered to ? There is file called - ghettoVCB-restore_vm_restore_configuration_template - is this the backup list file that needs configuring ? Any advice on this would be appreciated - I would like to simply enter a command in putty which had the entire string ( similar to backing them up ) or is this not possible when restoring ?

You are correct Gibbo and really I know that. I have a lot going through my head at the moment so I need to start doing something about it thats for sure.
