    Budgets

£12k - Consumables Budget £8 - Maintenance £27k - Harnessing Technology (£20k on Broadband) £17 - ICT Developments Budget (just purchased 50 new PC's for our new LRC and will be installing CCTV) So in total just under £65k this year.
  3. Missing attachment!Primary Facebook.doc
  4. I have been round all of our partner primaries over the last couple of weeks and put together my own powerpoint but used the ThinkUKnow Jigsaw video - really strong message. YouTube - Jigsaw: Assembly for 8 10 year olds Suitable for students aged 8 - 10. I also dish out the attached Facebook sheet and get the students to fill it in so they are thinking about the sort of information that students their age are putting on facebook - then ask the question if they would tell strangers in the street that information which they all say no, so then I ask the question so why do it online?
  5. More often than not the incidents get reported via our helpdesk (Kayako). However, I have told all staff that issue is affecting teaching and learning they are able to phone us or send a student. We don't have a manned telephone helpdesk or always someone in the ICT Support office, so if they can get to a computer it is still often the quickest as we pick up the incidents on our blackberrys.
  6. We have about £500 so far. No problems with the collecting of the toners, but has anybody actually received payment yet - I haven't tried, but just wondered if everything goes through smoothly.
  7. I have the 32 bit version and I love it. I can certainly see some fantastic educational benefits of students using these as the designated PLD (Personal Learning Devices) in projects such as BSF etc. They certainly pack a lot of potential and not just an expensive e-book reader like most people have said.
  8. You could look into the all in one solutions with integrated PC and Monitor or ITX PC's which will take up less room. Personally I much prefer a dedicated PC in the classroom, it makes life much easier for support and with teachers moving from classroom to classroom.
  9. Yep - no problems with Recycool here also. Do a search on the forums - theres quite a few happy customers.
  10. Hi Dos Box I registered a week or so ago, do we get e-mailed confirmation that we are on the list - as I never received anything if so. I think when you used the Event Elephant thing last year we got a reply. Cheers Andrew
  11. I imagine this will probably happen - our LA for one I am sure need all schools to be onboard using the managed IT service to be cost effective but to also ensure that all students have the same opportunities - single sign on to library's and part of the 14-19 agenda will become much harder if not impossible if the majority of schools do not use the managed service.
  12. These Safesticks certainly sound good - I am interested in the price also if you are able to share. I might grab one as a test unit to have a play - I notice a few sites offer an evaluation unit, not sure if I could put up with the additional sales calls though!
  13. A couple of options for you to get started with. If you use SIMS - you could look at Sims Learning Gateway SIMS Learning Gateway or another alternative is the TASC product Insight People on this site use both products succesfully.
  14. Thanks Tony - We make behaviour available via SLG now and will probably make SEN data available when the SEN webpart is released so to save duplication we will leave this information online only.
  15. I tend to think of the following when I pick my PM targers: 1) One Personal Target 2) One Team Target (ICT Support) 3) One whole school target
  16. So for confirmation - should we be including behaviour and special needs in our paper based student reports also?
  17. I have it working here and I can't remember making any changes to our Smoothwall config to get it to work - thats not to say we didn't - Ive probably just forgot!
  18. I think it should be left as a school preference but I can see the value in your idea. I do find it useful that the staff can currently see that little Johnny was in school period 1 and 2 but nowhere to be seen period 3.
  19. We must be lucky in this respect as the LA absorbs any transaction for our cheque banking here. The cost per transaction is prohibitive if parents are adding small amounts each week £5 etc - theres way and means around it for schools by adding an additonal cost to school trips to cover the transaction costs - although probably not allowed to do it.
  20. £8500 per year for 150 staff and 1450 students. 960 Workstations and around 60+ printers and photocopiers.
  21. Have a look at using Sharepoint Services - free download from Microsoft it's is as free as Moodle if you would prefer to use it. Obviously there is a hardware cost and your time to think about.
  22. We have just surveyed all of our parents to see if they would use a service such as parentpay - feedback up to now looks positive so we will probably look to launch it for September - this will be used for School Dinner Money and trips. From what I have heard from other schools and seen from the demos this does look good but could be a little on the expensive side as the school pays by the transaction.
  23. I can't help you with this one - but I agree the OxBox stuff is a right pain in the .....
  24. As part of our LA / Auditor guidelines any purchases over £3.5k have to go through a tender process - 3 quotes. The majority of items I purchase - I generally go with 2 companies and go with the cheapest for the total of all products and not mix and match - its doesn't make sense purchasing something from somewhere if theres only pence in it.
