  1. It uses an SSL or TLS version that you have set to disable on the client you’re connecting with. You should be able to toggle this on then back off when you need to connect to it. https://www.digicert.com/kb/ssl-support/disabling-browser-support-ssl-v3.htm
  2. Can you map with scripting, and schedule that until it completes? Not tried it, but allows you to add the time variable. net use, but how on Earth you link that that to Onedrive I don’t know!
  3. I don’t think so. I think if you want it to be automated, you have to schedule the script to run. However, this is from my old-school understanding and things may well have moved on with Azure and integration tools.
  4. You should be able to untick the licences in the admin centre, per user. If you want to do it in bulk, it’s via Powershell. Salamander does this for us on user creation, but I can also script it myself. Not got the syntax with me here, but I can look on my server after this weekend.
  5. It’s easy enough to in-place upgrade AADC and the server itself - your choice as to order but I’d do the server first as AADC may need re-initialising afterwards anyway.
  6. If the internet goes off, it should still be available via 4G/5G, so you can tether. It may be worth writing that in - no internet, safeguarding issue, use a phone.
  7. That looks pretty normal - does it clock up if you load it harder?
  8. Can you definitely use Test-path in that way? It works on folder paths, not sure about files. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-gb/powershell/module/microsoft.powershell.management/test-path?view=powershell-7.2
  9. I’d be very surprised if you can solve it by plugging in to that router - unless you know exactly what routing is set up. With your connection still being live (if you can VPN in) it sounds like the offsite filtering is at fault.
  10. Mostly VMs, couple of old physical servers (HP gen 6 being the oldest). No driver issues - the only missing driver out of the box was sorted by using an old x64 one.
  11. 2012 R2 to 2019/2022 is a very easy in-place upgrade - have you thought about giving that a go? I’ve done 20+ servers this summer doing just that, including file servers.
  12. Odd. That’s not connected to your network - it’s connected to the single mode fibre but not your router. The engineer has just installed it - I’d suggest that it’s not fully configured. The fact you can get in, probably through the other fibre and transceiver, suggests that’s fine. The big question then, is what is your connection going through to get to the internet? Offsite proxy or firewall, that the VPN bypasses? Just spotted the S3 - does that upstream to another SW?
  13. One of mine is 13 and still working - though it has thrown some warning signs. I had another fail at 9, which is about the usual lifespan.
  14. Are you using A2C? What's your role, IT support?

  16. With dual PSUs, the server manages the inputs with both being online and ‘hot’. Changeover is seamless for whichever fails. Having a UPS on both PSUs is a good plan. Failing that, one of each should be on an independent supply (from another ring/board/phase even). You should never have both in one UPS.
  17. How about using an Apple TV? No need to wire in the iPad. You could split the HDMI from the Apple TV then.
  18. It’s a bit of a pain unless you choose the English (International) build from VLSC. I would replace your deployment version as a start. You’ll need to deploy the language pack and use GP.
  19. They’re not in the UK - they may be diverse across the world, or in a country that supports/ doesn’t punish their actions. Some actors do eventually get caught. The encryption is not like software that can be uninstalled. It permanently changes all the files it can get to on a target system - so even if you remove the infection, the damage is done.
  20. There are lots of different systems for this. I did use a legacy system called https://wisedataman.com/account-management-spreadsheet and only stopped when we moved to Salamander, as it saves me so much time. The spreadsheet system worked great for years - I used it from 2008 to 2020.
  21. Well, you can’t do it now as you’ll have to dispose of the bodies first.
  22. Yes, delete will merge all the way to ‘Now’. You don’t want to use checkpoints on a DC from what I remember - winding back to them would only work if they’re the only DC, so no use keeping them. VM doesn’t need to be off. File server the same, though you can checkpoint those fine. I’ve never used the sub-tree function - but it just removes the whole tree back to now instead of one checkpoint.
  23. Can you export the DHCP config and just run it on the other server? Or even put the two into a failover configuration and see what happens? DHCP is usually a fairly disposable service on Windows - if you have to nuke it and try again, it’s not too bad - especially if you have the config. I’ve not run it on 2016 to have much experience specifically - I went from 2012 R2 to 2019.
  24. My server room has a fat generator hookup and changeover switch. Not exactly an eco friendly solution, nor cheap, but my UPSs won’t do more than 45 minutes!
  25. Yes, IME it doesn’t work with redirected AppData. I actually use mandatory profiles (which work like local profiles, but are copied to the local user folder on logon) but they are a legacy solution though they work fine.
