We have, but the point is that it takes a second login for the folder redirection to kick in because the OneDrive folder doesn’t exist until after the first login, so the redirection fails whether you use a variable or not

Hi guys, We have OneDrive set up and all folders redirecting to save to OneDrive. Working well, but the only issue we've come across is that on first login on a new PC, the user has no folder redirection as the folder doesn't exist yet (OneDrive needs to login first) So first login - OneDrive sets up and logs in Second login - Folders redirect If there was a way to delay folder redirection for say 30 seconds after login, this would cure the need to log in twice. Anyone come across this before? Thanks

Brand new 2016 print server here with brand new Konica MFD's and PaperCut Windows 10 LTSB 2016 clients, running roaming profiles for staff and mandatory profiles for students. Printers appear when they feel like it, tend to be better (but not perfect) once a profile has been loaded onto the machine. Driving me mad!!

Afternoon all, We use roaming profiles, but don't redirect AppData due to performance issues, and the issue we're having is that Chrome stores all its data in AppData. When we did redirect AppData, the Chrome folder used to get pretty big, which was one of the few reasons why we stopped it. In this however, is the bookmarks. Now if a user moves between PCs, their bookmarks don't go with them. Is there a way to store bookmarks in the 'Favourites' folder for example? I've had a look at the Chrome GPO's and can't see anything obvious apart from 'Set user data directory' - which would put all the Chrome data in their profile, which could get huge again. Also it gives you a warning about performance of using a network share if this is enabled. Anyone had any experience with this?? Thanks

Does it work on LTSB? Only thing that puts me off is the fact the last version is now 2 years old... is there a new version on the horizon?

Right, dragging this one up again. I've deployed Windows Server 2016 RDS and when users log on the start menu is PERFECT. No tiles, nothing, and just a list of programs, all from the redirected folder - JUST how I want it! Used exactly the same policies with Windows 10 Edu 1709... I get all the default apps, plus my redirected folders, and it's a horrible mess. https://gal.vin/2017/04/06/removing-uwp-apps-mdt/ - I even used this to remove the bl**dy things from the WIM file I deployed. Microsoft - WHY is Windows 10 an absolute nightmare to configure?! What school or business wants to use half the stuff you insist we deploy? With no option to remove without extensive scripting and faffing about for hours. If these new laptops could take Windows 7 I wouldn't think twice...

Hmm, my XML file shortcuts point back to %appdata% locations - i'll try the UNC paths. I'm running 1703 - I fixed the 'showing Windows apps' issue, it needed a profile reset and it all worked. Which kind of worries me, because if i'm going to have to make regular changes to start menu layouts, I don't want to be having to reset everyone's profiles each time...

Yep! Weirdly that removes the handy things like File Explorer, but keeps stuff like Feedback hub, Get Office, Get Help, Groove Music etc. etc.

Looking at deploying Win 10 Edu this summer, and i've been reading for hours and hours about blooming start menus. On 1703 I just cant get it to work at all. I've scrapped the idea of having the pinned tiles on the right because it's an absolute shambles trying to get that XML to work, all I want is a redirected start menu with just the list of shortcuts on the scrolling menu down the left - just like Win 7. However if I remove default programs being shown and redirect my Start Menu, I get all my redirected shortcuts... and all the absolute tripe apps that Microsoft insist on adding to their 'Enterprise' operating system. Can't I hide them all and just have my redirected shortcuts? Is it just me who thinks that Microsoft are making deployments more difficult instead of easier??

Morning all! We're picking up a primary school who are leaving the LEA to become an academy. After having a look round on their servers, i've found that they seem to be a child domain of the YHGfL's monster domain. Has anyone had any experience of this in the past? I know I can recreate the domain and AD, but that will cause havoc with passwords and local profiles on machines, profiles etc. I have the sneaky feeling the answer will be a resounding "no", but is it possible to turn this child domain into the parent domain for the school? Any other niggles/problems I might run into when moving away from a YHGfL/LEA maintained school? Cheers!

Hi guys, I'm looking at resetting everyone's roaming profile over the summer, but I'm guessing that if I delete the network copy, when they turn their machine on it will just use the local copy and copy it back to the network share. I've got over 800 desktops so manually deleting them off every PC isn't an option! Does anyone have a script? Cheers!

I think my main problem is it has worked perfectly for 3 years, and now all of a sudden it's doing this. It's really annoying!!
