  1. Good shout that! That image is about the right size and resolution for the screen from one too!
  2. https://globalroot.wordpress.com/2013/06/18/megacli-raid-levels/ [‘Primary-1, Secondary-0, RAID Level Qualifier-0’] = RAID-1 Looks like that is RAID 1.
  3. I had a script which ran daily, which followed the runbak backup to robocopy all of the MSSQL backups off to a NAS. Only then had issues when the NAS filled up [emoji13]
  4. Is it on the latest OS/firmware?
  5. In what way does it struggle? Does it sometimes connect? Is it slow when it does? What APs are you using? Can you change the connection type on the card reader, to 2.4/5GHz? What type of connection security is it using?
  6. That’s a beasty setup, but you’ll need to analyse peak usage and look at system utilisation. With half that number of staff, I had 24GB and 12 cores. Reduced that now as staff have laptops and a VPN.
  7. Bear in mind that a lot of schools have ripped out their first gen gigabit switches (or even their second) for newer. With that in mind, I have a stack of SG300s sitting here that could help you? Depends how many you need. That will help a bit, but your desktop specs shouldn’t be a particular issue unless they still have HDDs in them - if they do that needs to be addressed. Only then would I look at your internet connectivity - plenty of larger schools still just about manage on 100Mbps.
  8. Not user folders as such, but the profiles are of interest. If they’re redirected or roaming, Adobe’s suites of software can play up. We use CC21 with the same Hwb licensing - all our users are on local profiles but it did work with mandatory ones (which act like local). We don’t use Hwb for much else. Check a user’s AD properties and the profile tab to see of you have roaming profiles, and GP settings to see if AppData is redirected.
  9. Wii (not Wii U) outputs via composite or RGB component only. So - depends on what the projector will take, otherwise you’ll need to adapt to HDMI. If the projector has either of those, just run those cables between them. That won’t include audio - so you have to split the left and right RCAs from the connection lead to speakers or the projector.
  10. What type of profiles do you use for pupils?
  11. Not built in, but you can probably build a Report that spits those out into a Word document. Bit of fiddling to print them unless you get busy with the guillotine!
  12. More Pippin - that’s a controller for one.
  13. My experience of upgrading a DC without moving FSMO roles has been very good. I just upgraded the server in place, knowing that worst case I’d have to seize the roles on the other DC. With that in mind, back up any other roles (like DHCP) that it may be running in case it bricks.
  14. Tony Blair? (not a political post!)
  15. We re-use, but the turnover period is very long due to our format (nothing to do with the student’s name). I have added more name variations to the ‘pool’ with the intention of not re-using for 10 years or more, due to the kind of issues you describe and email addresses finding their way onto spam lists.
  16. I would be vary wary of TVs with plastic rather than glass fronts in a classroom. I’ve seen too many things leaned against IWBs as well as slips and kids messing with them - one hard prod of a plastic covered screen and it’s over.
  17. Damn, that doesn’t work with such bad grammar! Quotey fixy!
  18. Perhaps, but not in the 20th century in a supposedly ‘civilised’ country by someone who was well exposed to the benefits (and vices) of that time. Claiming a cultural reason for it - that has also been used in rape defence. It’s abhorrent.
  19. I’ve up a campsite for that also caters for aquatic mammals. It’s called For All In Tents and Porpoises.
  20. No matter where or when, that was still deeply wrong and toxic. I struggle to separate artist and person. Helps with someone like Kanye - I hate both.
  21. Unfortunate reaction to new laundry detergent?
  22. I stand by my answer!
  23. TI-83?
  24. Even though that one works, try another USB. It sounds like the Windows Boot Manager is interfering too, if PXE also doesn't work. Otherwise, it sounds like the firmware has reacted rather badly to something!
  25. One of the things I remember is that with IPv6 disabled ADUC used to take ages to open. Turning it back on fixed that. If MS themselves say leave it on, that’s good enough for me.
