This is what Always On VPN is for. Cost is the cost for a server (can be a VM), OS license for it and an external IP for it. The setup takes a bit of work but it's commonly used. Don't use HAP+ now.

Is Christmas the best time of year to be working in IT?
3s-gtech replied to verysmartbenn's topic in General Chat
Work's okay at that time, but I'm usually run into the ground by that point as my last full week off will have been in May. I don't think I've been to a staff Christmas do for 10 years - they always clash with training, and as coach and athlete first that comes above drinking overpriced beer with colleagues! -
“Can they print?” “We need them to connect to the AppleTVs!” Those are the downsides (and upsides!) Client device isolation should do what you want if it’s not on already.
-
Overwrite them. You won't lose any settings - the settings are not stored in the ADMX. I have a mix of 2016 and 2019 on site while I finish migrating - I didn't need to worry much about updating the ADMXs.

Standard warning - 1809 is long past EoL, so any advice I'd give is tempered by that (unless you're using LTSC). This indicator in Windows doesn't actually stop much from working - the one I've seen is driver downloads from Device Manager. Otherwise, even though it can't access the site that it uses to test connectivity, it should still actually have access.

Monitoring search engine usage

You can break the encryption if you have MITM certificates installed and your filtering can do it. At least, currently. -
Compatible card for Paxton Net2 Controller and HID door reader

Yeah that doesn’t look like any Mifare 1k I’ve seen! -
Compatible card for Paxton Net2 Controller and HID door reader
3s-gtech replied to bheart's topic in Physical Security
Can you output the card data in plaintext into Notepad? When we do that with 1k cards the data is very distinct and can help to determine what you have. -
I guess it’s possible, if a little shady, for them to simply fail to sign in eventually as Google shift their security standards further up, and things like certificates expire. When support ends, they’re e-waste as far as I can see.

iOS 16 Beta - Radius auth wireless networks failed
3s-gtech replied to stgoodyeara's topic in Wireless Networks
I’d be surprised if it’s not the self-signed cert. It’s becoming an issue on our RADIUS secured SSID, on newer Android devices. iOS will follow. Our actual ‘internal’ SSID is still PSK. -
Win £1,000 worth of ICT Direct hardware!!!

Requested a thoughtful/puzzled pose photo from you then Dave! -
Some are welded (usually the rubbish ones). In that case, it’s new cab time!

I once got legal advice from U2 - it was biased but at least it was free. It was Pro Bono.

Temperature doesn’t work like that

The clothes may end up significantly less fresh as a result, depending on the dog!
-
Same. The clothes dry well, as long as the room isn’t sealed. Low energy, simple, and doesn’t involve having to retrieve your smalls from two towns over after a gusty day.

Yes, still my go-to if I'm listening from my PC and not streaming. Also handles my iPod Classics. iTunes is awful so I avoid it as much as possible.

You’ve missed the boat for Server 2012/R2 by about 7 years. Do not go to it, as great a Server OS as 2012 R2 was it is now history.

She’ll be missed. What an awesome lady she was. Over here in Wales, there is a divide as to whether the royal family is ‘our’ royal family, but she was still somebody to respect and admire not because of her office, but because of her actions, for so long. Long live the Queen - “done it”.

Same. Luckily we don’t use it for registers, and I haven’t rolled out access to all staff yet to scale it up. The install on the TPC works fine, so the DB backend is okay. The RDP muscle is woeful. I’m trying to script as much as I can to avoid it, like student timetables outputs, but when we need an address or phone number…

Yes I should add, SIMS Connected broke straight away. Not really working three days later, so I’ve paused deploying it to any more staff. I’ve been smashing the ‘it’s your fault’ fast bowls for six.

In-place upgrades from Office 2016 to 2019 on PCs that used to run Windows 10 1903. Anything built on 20H2 worked. I may be rebuilding quite a few installs!

The SD card has died. Even though they don’t write much, the cards do eventually brick - I’ve replaced the memory stick in mine a couple of times. Pain, but the alternative is an SSD hanging off the USB port.

It sounds like folder redirection either isn’t set up or isn’t working. That’s a user Group Policy. Make sure you copy all of the user’s documents to a backup before configuring this - there is a distinct risk of wiping the home folder clean.
