    If I use LANSpeedtest against a network share I'm only getting 700mbps write and 350mbsp read. Thats 85 MB/s ish on the write. All switches are gigabit Cisco's going down shortish lengths (<50m) of CAT5e. All server NICs are at least duals mostly quads. Cient NICs are all gigabit. Why is it so slow ?

    I think firmware 9.8.x.x has options for more access points. I had to upgrade recently when I bought an R500 AP. Might include older ones possibly/maybe ??

    In that case when you set up all your apple ID's, you'll have to get in touch with apple to whitelist your IP. Otherwise they'll block you after creating 5 or 6 assuming your'e spamming them.     This is sterling advice. One ID per device. Note that (if you havent bought them already - oh, you have lol), DEP is now available in the UK. Jigsaw are v helpful and have DEP up and running. DEP means that your devices are delivered pre-configured. You wont have too do much with them at all. Apple configurator to set up the wifi, nae the device and a few other bits then Meraki all the way for me. If you use Apple configurator for too much it means that you have to usb connect the ipad to the macbook to change any configuration. Meraki does it over the cloud. Have a look at my 'Ipad Woes' thread. That has a comprehensive guide for setting them up.

    With Meraki, timings vary for me quite dramatically, especially with app pushes. I think it depends on how frequently the app/profile looks for the cloud servers but I cant find any way to set an interval.

    Not got a copier in the office ? I'd say don't shop for the printer, shop for the consumables cos some of them are really expensive. Not just toner but imaging drums, photoconductor units, waste toner bottles, fusers etc etc. Avoid newer models that the compatibles market hasn't caught up with

    No don't get me wrong, they're very nice machines... adn reliable - I've got loads - Bog standard Foxy's that is. When I said re-branded (I probably used the wrong word) I was actually thinking of the laser etch logos you can put on them I'll re-edit that post cos it sounds a bit naff reading it back ; ) Soz for any etc etc

    Definitely sounds DNS'y. Your AD/DNS server should point to itself primarily, not an external DNS server. I doubt if when you put an external in at the start it would affect it. e.g. DNS1: 127.0.0.1 DNS2: Another internal server or nothing **** "Also, whenever they lost connection to the share drives they cannot access the internet." **** - This is almost definitely DNS Have you set up your DNS correctly in DHCP? I'd also look at setting up scavenging on your DNS server. If you look at your host records in DNS you might find you have duplicated IP's for different host records. To double check, delete all your non static A records and keep an eye on them when they are recreated. Try doing a persistent ping to the hostname with the shares and see if you get packet loss. Another test... get a machine an give it a static IP and give it your internal DNS server. If it works I think its likely to be the above. btw.... Are all your shares on the same server ?

    Oh... and when you do it, when users print, double sided doesn't work most of the time when printing from a 'pad. We have to turn it off each time or it won't print !

    Like the other guy said, you are already licensed for 2 PaperCut servers. Mine runs on a Mac Mini. Only downside is the Follow me printing. Users have to print to a specific device, then collect their jobs from that device (if you're using print accounting that is) ...and turn off the Mac printing function (whats it called again? AirPrint?) on your copiers/printers. Otherwise both the PaperCut printers and the devices themselves show up on the Ipad.

    Hi all, I'm trying to get PC's to lock after say 10min of inactivity using the following command run from the task scheduler set in GPP on Windows 7, without using a screen saver... rundll32 user32.dll,LockWorkStation I can't get it to run. The task appears in the local scheduler but isn't running. It wont run when I try to manually run it either. Now, I am running it under 'Computer Configuration' not 'User' - might need to use loopback processing for it to work but not sure how. Perms are NTAUTHORITY\SYSTEM. Task scheduler options are: General: Update Run with highest privileges Configure for Windows 7 Trigger: On idle Action: Start a program - rundll32 user32.dll,LockWorkStation Conditions: Start task only when computer is idle for 10 mins Settings: If task fails, restart every 1 min Whats the default period of time before Win 7 considers itself idle ? Any help appreciated
