MS standard volume licensing. ESXi is the cost on top. Its not that much though. -

... and evaluating it for six months then choosing another product. Never used it in a live environment I meant. That comment was my very well experienced assumption. Like any other MS product isn't buggy. Come on ! -

... Not targetted at your comment Marshall but.... You get what you pay for... this is your whole infrastructure. I just don't trust MS products to be solid - personal opinion. 2 VM hosts and maybe a Veeam replication host would be big overkill but very very sturdy for years to come. I'm running mine on ESXi - dual host and Veeam backup and replication backing up daily onto a NAS. Never had a hitch (apart from my VM'd Server 2008 borking out after I'd forgotten to snapshot it !!!!) -

Oh, get extra NIC's in your host machine. You'll need it to network fast. -

VMWare sits on Linux. End of story. Super sturdy. Why run Windows on a Windows platform. Never used it but I bet its really buggy. 10 - MS 2012 servers on a £6000 host machine. Got room for a few more -
Ay. Thats what I got

I've got it. Wont post it to spoil tho' ; )

Why do people not back things up. I bet you give em loads of storage space to do it aswell. (Snigger) I take it no power?

I've done it on VirtualBox but wanted it in my VM setup. Never mind. @localzuk ....... You're only allowed to virtualise Mac OS onto a Mac device. Putting it on another, non-Apple device is against the license conditions. Fair play.

Was thinking so. There's some little NUC style macs available now. Can you remote desktop onto them from Windows ?? I've never had the inclination to use a mac in my life. I hate them.

I cannot get GPP drive mapping to work properly for the life of me. Too unreliable. I'm still using a 'Net Use' script. Works flawlessly.

Where can I download ALL of SmartBoard
mikkydoos replied to abillybob's topic in Enterprise Software
Use their .msi installer tool. You can custom build your own installations then. -
There's other data that goes back to the LA monthly Banjo as well as the Collect Portal stuff. I don't know what it is though. That might be his problem. Its runs daily from the MIS server. Might not be a problem for long anyway... it looks to me like Link2 are going down down down........
-
Will it just break everything ??? Its my MIS server ! Or shall I VM it and test on that ? HHHmmmmmmmmm ??

Trying to send you PM's. Im not sure they're being sent. ?????
-
Not exactly. Another school left Link2 and had the same problem. What they did for a bit for use a Link2 VPN to send them data manually. I'll send u a PM. Might be of interest.
-
@foofighterjimI did this a while back this year. Data transfer isn't dependent on that line. Link2 receiving it are. What Link2 will say is that if you terminate any of their core services (ie your line) then they won't offer you any other service to collect your data because it contravenes the security of their circuit - utter cr@p. ....and that data goes back down an FTP anyway doesn't it ? I moved the schools MIS support to another local authority. Never looked back. No headaches.
