What do you & the teachers wear to work?

I was wearing shirt and tie recently until I got sick of the amount of ties I was going through due to them getting mucky from various things. I now wear trousers and shoes and a plain polo shirt or jumper.

Term Time - Shoes, Trousers and a Departmental T-Shirt (ICT Support + School Logo)

 

Out of Term - Trainers, Departmental T-Shirt & Departmental Tracksuit bottoms (School Logo)

 

Both covered with a Fleece - Yep thats a school one too (ICT Support + School Logo)

I forgot to say that I one of the schools I work at I do wear my New Rocks on occasion as the kids love them.

I wear Jeans (coloured not blue denim) shoes and a shirt. Suit when I have visitors. During holidays its trainers T-Shirt and Tracky bottoms as its a messy time.

Cargo Pants (trousers) and a dark polo shirt. I've also now been bought some awesome Steel Toecap casual shoe / trainers. Anti-slip, anti-static and steel rod along the bottom.

 

Cargo pants are essential for all the crap I have with me. School keys, PDA, phone, tools.

Standard here trousers, shirt and Tie (sometimes more know got air con in the office).

 

In hols, non uniform days or if we are doing a very messy job like setting ict suites up etc (but that not very often) then it is jeans and t-shirt...

I go through smart (shirt, trousers, shoes) and casual (jeans/combats, jumper, trainers) cycles depending on my mood. Anecdotal evidence suggests I get more done when casual, mainly because I'm less self-concious about my appearance / more comfortable.

 

The head occasionally half-heartedly grumbles about the casual cycles, but my boss (deputy head) is of the "so long as the job gets done and he's not naked, it doesn't matter" viewpoint.

There is a distinct lack of other males in several of my schools too, so I have to stick to the accepted idea of men's work attire as I have no-one else to compare with or to be an ally!

Hehehe. I was watching 24 (I think either series 3 or 4 - very good BTW for anyone thinking of getting it) last night and a terrorist with a gun was pretending to be an IT Technician. My brother said "I wonder how many technicians carry a gun" and my reply "Ideally, in a school, it should be all of them for protection against the staff".

Smart in term time but without a suit jacket, just gets grubby or damaged, unless we have a visitor then it comes out. In the hols its smart casual in or if im doing a messy job during term time then it also comes out.

I wear a suit hear on a day to day basis, but if its going to be a mucking out day then generally jeans / tracksuit bottoms and polo shirt with school crest stitched into it.

 

As others have mentioned its generally casual during school holidays.

Just a quicky (maybe a poll could be added or made a seperate thread but I don't think thats worth it) but how many of us are given / forced to have school branded clothing EG polo shirts etc, I see a few mention it that they have them and wear them, just wondered if its forced or given and you choose to wear them?

We wear formal shirt/ trousers/ tie term time - and casual during holidays, except when we need to look smart.

 

Teachers pretty much the same or worse. Only SMT wear suits on a day to day basis.

We base it on if the kids are in uniform, we'll be in shirt / tie.

 

Otherwise whatever we want.

I only got them made as a joke / team bonding excercise.

 

Plus i'd rather I got my school polo shirt filthy then shirt, tie, jacket etc.

At the moment I just wear an open collared shirt, no tie, a dark pair of trousers and black shoes. When I start my new job I may have to smarten up a bit.

A minimum of Shirt and Tie ... but more often I will be seen in suit.

 

In the holidays it is whatever you are comfortable in unless we have certain visitors.
