Just FYI for those in here not looking at the other thread (http://www.edugeek.net/forums/windows-7/171517-windows-update-3159398-issue.html#post1469359), you shouldn't not install this update, you should instead change your Security Filtered GPOs as per Microsoft's KB article regarding this fix.

You should install the update, but you should change any of your Security Filtered GPOs so that they contain read permission for either Authenticated Users or Domain Computers as per https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3163622

It seems that Microsoft really need to change the way they communicate. Confidence in the update process has been blown to pieces (especially with the way they are abusing it to push out Win 10), so as soon as there is an issue with a Patch Tuesday admins are immediately looking for the offending KB and uninstalling it (checking the threads and comments on Spiceworks/El Reg etc.). With this particular problem this is unnecessary and negates the security issue that Microsoft are mitigating. From the fact that the simple fix is documented in MS16-072, Microsoft were well aware of the issue this would raise but they made zero attempt to communicate this actively. Surely they should go back to pre-announcing Patch Tuesday where they could flag-up these known, pre-update changes in advance. Instead they leave us scrambling for answers and others actively reducing the security on their systems.

I'm in the process of migrating our Exchange 2003 box to Office 365 Exchange. With the recent update, Public Folders are now available within O365. We have a couple of folders in our legacy system that would be useful to move to Exchange Online. I've managed to create the folders via the EAC, but unfortunately there isn't a migration process available for our mail-enabled folders. After a bit of searching I've found advice such as: However Outlook 2007 only allows one Exchange mailbox per user, does anybody have any ideas how I can achieve this? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the tips, of course I know to get in contact with some Account Managers, but when you're just looking for a quick ballpark figure it is annoying having to go out specifically to get this information. It is really surprising that the big manufacturers haven't begun to offer this on the mid-range units. SSDs have come down massively in price, most organisations don't need masses of local data and the speed boost from an SSD has turned them in to the equivalent advice from about 10 years ago of "stick more RAM in it" to increase a PC's performance. I reckon, as has been mentioned, that they have big contracts with the Seagates and Maxtors of this world and as these guys haven't got a decent offering in the SSD market they are caught in their own bulk purchase contracts.

I'm looking at getting some quotes for some replacement desktop machines and, maybe I'm not looking hard enough, but none of the usual suspects seem to offer their hardware with a SSD hard-drive or even the ability to swap out the standard oversized-HDD for a little increase in price. Argh! None of the data is kept on the local machine! I don't need 0.95TB free on that 1TB harddrive. I'd much prefer the performance boost thanks very much. Can anybody here correct me and point out the 'Desktops with SSD for organizations' area of the manufacturers' online stores?

All of this is very sage advice, though I sort-of disagree with number 3. I understand the point you are making, but that needs to be tempered with 'Don't take the Jod Description/Person Specification as gospel'. A lot of times you see requests for very specific technologies/software which in your previous employment you haven't encountered. Here you need to show transferable knowledge (some similar technology/software you have experience of) or, if you have never encountered that technology/software before, demonstrate that you are willing to learn and to do so quickly. In regards to experience; if you're asked for minimum x years relevant experience and you have less then that, show that through your outside interests or specific courses during education you feel that you make up that 'missing' experience. It doesn't hurt to 'throw' an application in this situation if you feel you are a strong candidate in other areas.

Recently we've had a spate of Flash Games running from pen drives. I thought adding .swf to Designated File Types would lock them down, but it doesn't seem to take effect Those who have it working are you blocking from User Config, Computer Config or both?

No, because whatever hits you get back have already happened, you are reacting to what has happened. With active filtering the 'problem' is stopped before it occurs, i.e. is (pro)active.
