What do you & the teachers wear to work?

From some of the posts on here, I was wondering how everyone dressed at work. Seems quite a few of you are in jeans and T-Shirts.

 

I wear a suit to work, just seems the right thing to do! The teachers also come in well dressed.

 

At my last school the teachers were a right bunch of scruffy urchins, but I still came in a suit. However my technician wore the same every day, white t-shirt, blue jeans (I assumed he had a number of white t-shirts!)

 

Does the way the teachers dress reflect the way we turn up to work?

Get fed up with a tie getting in the way.

 

If it's a speical function or I've been to a job interview or just want to make them think I've been to a job interview then I'll wear a suit.

Shirt and Tie for me. But I could come in Jeans and t-shirt and nobody would blink an eyelid. The school dress code is pretty upto you here - there's no real restrictions, a lot of the staff dress scruffy. There are one or two of the female kind who dress far to skimpy for a school in my opinion - especially with the age group they are working with. I think in general, dress code has become less important not just in schools, but in business too. I mean, with the amount of money we pay to Bill Gates and Steve Jobs (and the like) you'd think they could do better than jeans and t-shirt when they turn up at a key-note address.

I have to wear shirt, tie and trousers. Sometimes I go the whole hog and wear a suit but most of the time I just wear a jumper or fleece over the top (as all our corridors are outdoors...).

black shoes, no tie, trouser and what ever random colour shirt I pull out mostly gray, blue or red. Jeans and t-shirt on Inset days though I could wear jeans every day and no one would say a thing.

Grey trousers, black shoes and dark polo shirt - but they would like me to wear a suit - but I've no desire to be up to my elbows in printer toner in my expensive clothes. I worked in a big multinational before this job and there was no dress code there at all - was quite surpised to be interviewed by someone in T shirt & jeans - must say it didn't diminish our professionalism in any way - I'd sooner jeans etc if it were allowed.

Smart casual here. So no jeans but I normally wear cargo or Craghopper style trousers, fleece or jumper and a t-shirt (for which, apparently I have a reputation for now!) Occasionally wear a shirt in the winter, or a bone shirt in the summer if I really am in the spirit.

Would hate to wear a suit for the reasons given above, toner always gets everywhere and the state of some peoples desks/offices/classrooms means I would hate to be grubbing around in a smart stuff.

During term time Shirt, Tie, trousers (as opposed to jeans, not that i would come in trouserless.... that would be silly). during the hols we can wear pretty much whatever.

 

The DT tech can dress more casual as he's cutting wood, etc all day. Science techs seem to get away with wearing whatever they want.

I wear smart trousers, smart shoes and more often than not a plain jumper.

 

Today I am wearing a shirt and a smart jacket - just to keep people on their toes

 

My brother, who is a Network Manager up at a school in Lancashire, lurks on this forum (and told me about EduGeek!). He had some plain black polo shirts with the school logo designed for him and his techs - very smart they look too. Doesn't get your own good clothes dirty with toner, ink, dust or grubby little-student-urchin-types' fingers.

I normally wear all black either trousers and shirt or a jumper. On occasion I have been known to wear a suit but it depends on my mood. The only normal bit of colour I wear is my ear plug which I change between black, blue and purple.

Always, Always wear a shirt and tie, always have in whatever job I've been doing. I just think it portrays a professional image, (although I don't know if people take me more seriously because of it??)

 

The only time civvies come out are in holiday time, or when we have to get and move the lighting rig around for school productions etc.

Teachers dress quite tidily but the male ones don't wear a tie very often
