  1. We also push the "if you've been teaching Geoff for 3 years and you think that Geoff didn't write this, you're going to have a higher degree of accuracy than an AI tool" line. With an "unless it's an EPQ (or other independent project) and Geoff has picked his specialist subject of Pokemon" caveat.
  2. What's the torque like? Enough to do the job, but not enough to strip the heads? Or......?
  3. I refrain from commenting (and just note the employer isn't one I should ever consider). But the commentary usually isn't that "the wage for role X is low compared to private sector". Instead it tends to be "even for a school, that takes the mickey" or identical roles at schools 5 miles apart* are being offered at significantly different wages with the same intake demographics. *yes Lincolnshire, I'm looking at you.
  4. https://admin.cloud.microsoft/#/users One of my team reported they couldn't switch user on the M365 admin portal(s) and the 3x3 menu in top left also didn't work for them (works fine in Outlook though). A short time later it's stopped loading for me and (using developer tools) we're getting a 404 when it tries to load headbundle.js from https://res.public.onecdn.static.microsoft/admincenter/admin-pkg/14.0/en/jsc/headbundle.js and the searchbar, option to switch tenant and the cloud shell buttons have also disappeared. Can anyone else replicate this? We're not using the new dashboard and we're seeing it in Chrome (current) and Edge (current stable). cheers Pete
  5. We support both, though email lives on 365 for consistency. IME neither have particularly good documentation once you get into the weeds and need accurate info on specific niche things because how the thing works/is configured changes and the customer-facing documentation isn't updated at the same time. At one point I'd have said we'd lean more towards Workspace if we went 1-2-1, but given the price of hardware at the moment that's not going to happen for a while.
  6. That's how I read the notification to us, with the number in brackets following the Bromcom instance / school name being the number of affected accounts identified. Schoolname (32) Otherschoolname (123) etc.... @Bromcom_Alastair is that the total number of affected accounts (you've checked all of the accounts on an instance and only those are affected) or the number you've confirmed so far?
  7. Looking at the school <> number of affected people counts for our schools, they're very close to staff Bromcom user numbers (albeit with one that's quite out of whack).
  8. I'm going to gloss over the "I'm sure Dave can sort you with a tax-deductable and younger-than-11-years-old refurb for a reasonable price" element of this post..... But if you've missed a few BIOS versions, what happens if you try an older update first?
  9. We found user-defined flags were triplicated in teacher registers at one school, refreshing the system cache resolved it.
  10. Would you mind logging into the Sage webclient and then going here: https://app.sage200.co.uk/Sage200SelfService/Workspaces/my-budgets-overview (or via the menu route Nominal Ledger > My Budgets Overview) and time how long it takes for "My budgets" to populate and the "Nominal Account Budgets" list. For mine (single budget, 202 nominal budgets beneath it), it takes 12-14 seconds to fully load from a refresh. It's noticably slower to load this term, both in-school and working offsite. For our finance manager and CFO (~100 top-level budgets) it times out and falls over both onsite and working offsite. 36 seconds to timeout on the web client. On the desktop it doesn't timeout (we got bored after waiting 5 minutes). It last definitely loaded reliably for them on 3rd August. All the Sage domains are exempted from HTTPS interception and filtering and I've double-checked to see if Sage snuck anything new on there and didn't tell anyone. cheers Pete
  11. Guessing there weren't any comms to customers about this choice between security updates or functional backups?
  12. Click the headset icon at the top (then pick Microsoft as the support provider if you have N+1 options).
  13. One of our schools has a 3G pitch under construction. The intent is community use out-of-hours and school use during the day. The suggested access control method for out-of-hours is Clubspark.com (online pitch booking platform) linked to SmartAccess (gate access controller) for the generation of time-limited PIN codes for gates. We have an existing Net2 system across the trust and I'd like (for school use) the existing staff ID badges to work on the 3G pitch gates. I could do this at the very basic level (Net2 controller and SmartAccess controller trigger the same locking mechanism), but has anyone using Clubspark integrated it with Net2 and removed the need for SmartAccess? Google suggests it may be possible with Middleware, but details are a bit sparse. (and yes, have emailed Paxton). cheers Pete
  14. I'll echo the "integrate with Wonde". Our experience (Lincolnshire) is that all too often we get a quite-last-minute iffy looking request from an overworked practicioner who expects us to send a spreadsheet with a password of "schoolname" or "same password for every spreadsheet in the county". And then I get a "the NHS are doing dodgy things with personal data again" email from the school office(s).
  15. From what I recall, providing you're not over your license count (or doing it to circumvent licensing) Smoothwall don't (didn't) care back when we did it for testing / migration. @tom_newton would know any current licensing Jenga that's necessary.
  16. Waterproof winter coat w/removable liner Boating/sailing cagoule that's properly* waterproof Lightweight down jacket Softshell that's waterproof enough if I walk fast. Warmer softshell that I don't care if it gets filthy. Denim jacket Long wool coat Pack-a-mac jacket that doesn't breath at all, but gets thrown into a bag occasionally if I'm going to be gone for a few days but don't want to lug a coat around *handles head-on "WTF are we out on a boat in this?" storms with no shelter.
  17. ^ Most students who have the Bromcom MIS app on their phones also have the Outlook Mobile app on their phones (due to *interesting* design choices in the initial authentication setup for the student MIS app). Outlook mobile can function as a (not particularly great) second factor. If it's working, great. If it breaks and it's the only second factor it's annoying to resolve compared to standard MFA reset.
  18. ^ Can second the LR recommendation. We (previously CRB and Vericool in two secondaries) went from 3-4 cashless catering tickets per week to maybe 1 every 6 months because they're hoping we/LR can find or create a very niche report. I actually have to RTFM when doing things in LR because I don't really need to touch it day-to-day.
  19. There's a nature walk with a clear view of the west ~10 mins walk from me. Just need to find a cardboard box of reasonable dimensions.
  20. Happily, we banned SMS and voice auth more than a year ago and moved the handful of SMS users to a physical token or an authenticator app. The interesting part comes when the (token-using) person needs N+1 authenticators for different work-related websites that can't use an existing source of truth. You can get physical tokens that can hold N+1 authenticators (https://www.token2.com/products/token2-molto-1-i-multi-profile-totp-hardware-token) but setup isn't straightforward for an end-user.
  21. This breaks our device licensing group (multiple school in the same tenant, but the UI only allows you to specify one group) and our "People allowed to create groups in M365" group. The latter is annoying (I can add a group per school if I really have to), the former is a pain in the backside with 3 months notice.
  22. ^ Actually yeah - cable pass-through grommets of an appropriate size may also work as "pegs".
  23. Looking at the image, Is the handle just a push-fit, plastic into plastic, that wears out? Could you retrofit/reinforce with an appropriately-sized chicago screw, maybe a couple of washers and some loctite? If your DT dept has a scrap acrylic pile and a laser cutter, you could probably get away with colour-matched washers.
