I spent a bad night and feel terrible this morning: High temperature, I ache everywhere, and a little trouble thinking clearly. Despite all this, I would still recommend anyone having doubts to take the vaccination (naturally) If this is the attenuated version, how much worse might the real one be? I'm feeling no worse than normal 48hours on, not sure whether that is good or bad, just a tender arm.
paulkerton Posted March 24, 2021 Posted March 24, 2021 My whole family (for various reasons, age and medical) have had the jab, and now I'm the only one waiting for it. 39, so if I'm lucky it'll be the end of May or early June, which means my first jab won't arrive till my family have all had their second. Anyone else getting FOMO? 1
jmak Posted March 24, 2021 Posted March 24, 2021 Obviously entirely anecdotal, but 6 people in my family have had the Pfizer jab and 2 have had the AZ jab (me being one of them). Other than slightly sore arms, I'm the only one who had side effects. Jabbed at 3.30pm; got up at 5.30am to give someone a lift to the station and I was shivery, mild headache and aches all over. Took paracetamol and was fine but lethargic (which could just be down to getting up at 5.30) for a few hours then aches came back. Took more paracetamol which was enough to get rid of the aches. Repeated at dinnertime and had an early night. Woke up the following day feeling sparkling and new!
Rob_D Posted March 24, 2021 Posted March 24, 2021 I vaguely remember reading somewhere (it might even have been this thread) that AZ vaccine is more likely to give side effects (or worse side effects) on the first dose, while the Pfizer side effects are more likely on the second.

A science teacher at my work was involved in the trials and yes this is what he said. Also the AZ vaccine has been developed to give you the effects of contracting Covid. Some people feel worse than others as their immune systems are different in how they bodies cope with the vaccine. Or something like that, I'm not a Scientist ! From what I recall, it was about this point after return that we had our first closure in September. As far as I know, we've had no positive cases here since March...yet! (KS2 approx 400 pupils and staff)

Oi!! some of us retirees have enough problems with froggery ( is that supposed to be 1 d or 2???) without another $usualsuspect chipping in!!!! anyway - it is damn difficult getting up before 9 -ish - and watching Fantomworks - before working out whether or not to go for a bike ride before or after lunch and then I had to grease the jockey wheels on the derailleur wheels on the gear change and oil the chain and then there is the shopping to do - at least 3 times a week damn difficult and today was bin day - just to add to the pressure and the window cleaners came round to do the windows it's just none stop round here!!!!!
