  1. It is things (and people) like this that make me long for retirement, and the day I can walk away for good from the insanity that education has now become.
  2. As if you hadn’t caused enough grief, you go and say that! This one’s going to run and run…
  3. I personally wouldn’t risk it, but that’s me…
  4. Well, to be (very) pedantic for a moment, it isn’t actually moving…
  5. You’re in the clear - no semi-colons or apostrophes!
  6. Fairly sure that it wasn’t a local who put it there - the comma’s in the right place!
  7. Call me a cynical old whatsit, but this is why I am slightly sceptical of the handwringing (‘the school were absolutely appalled’) coming from the school. There may be a perfectly innocent and reasonable explanation - but I’m struggling to think of one, at the moment!
  8. Agreed - but the school will not know the contents of the agreement, which usually goes out to the parents in a sealed packet with the photo proofs. My focus would be on how the photo company knows which children to include/ exclude.
  9. Tempest are a well-known school photography company - the school would/should have done the basic DBS checks, but they tend not to get too involved in what the company are doing in terms of the service provided and communication with parents. I still say that (except in the most obvious cases of physical appearance) the company could only have known which children to ‘target’ if the school had told them.
  10. That’s what I’ve been wondering. The original press article says that the school have been ‘wonderful’ and are ‘appalled’, but how else would the photographers know who these kids are?

    CV Creator?

Edugeek are lucky to have our very own CV creator in-house - calling @witch!
  13. I’ll hoof it over there right now.
  14. Agree with all of the above - refer to Prevent, local schools’ DSL and LA safeguarding.
  15. I presume you are referring to the missing semi-colon?
  16. Merry Christmas, everyone.
  17. Oh to be a fly on the wall of the harbourmaster’s office when that one first entered port…
  18. So sad. I literally just finished reading his book ‘Windrush Child’ with my Y6 class yesterday - just a few hours after he died. Some very sad kids today, when I told them.
  19. Apologies - yes, of course I knew - just my weird (ie warped) sense of humour.
  20. RIGHT, you lot, own up - who’s towed the Isle of Mull down the coast into Cardigan Bay?
  21. I'd love to see schools move to a 4-day week - but the cynic in me is telling me not to hold my breath...
  22. In theory, public transport to work for me should be a doddle - 5 minutes walk to the bus station, 10 minutes walk to work the other end. In practice, it’s a different story. When I finally gave up on public transport and went back to the car, I immediately gained an average of two hours on my day - and that’s before thinking about how crowded and unpleasant the buses are. I got fed up with the 30/45 minutes wait for a bus in the evening coming out of Birmingham city centre - and there were plenty of days when it was worse than that. I console myself with the fact that the car is rarely empty - two members of staff live en route, so most days I have at least one of them in the car, if not both.
