Shame it doesn't also cover Bacterial Pneumonia. Seems to be spreading rapidly where I live.

 

I had that when I was 23, it almost killed me (misdiagnosed)!

I've just spent the entire Xmas period quite bad with the horrible cold that is doing the rounds - https://uk.news.yahoo.com/warning-over-brutal-cold-spreading-082320290.html?guccounter=1 - and have lost my voice I was coughing so much. I'm on the mend now, but still have the cough and fatigue.

Honestly, I thought covid was better than this! The only benefit it has is that this one has passed its worst point after a few days.

Has anyone else caught this one yet?

It's certainly one to be wary of and avoided if at all possible!

I started to feel 'weird' evening of Sunday 18th dec. Next day felt bad and test positive for Covid, lasted a good 10 days still have mild headache/bunged up.

Whole family had it and friends across the road (no contact) also tested positive a week ago.

It's certainly one to be wary of and avoided if at all possible!

I keep my distance as much as possible lol. Avoid going out of office if I can during break/lunch especially.

I've been ill twice this month and I rarely ever get ill. Both times it was excessive mucus and congestion along with quite bad fatigue. Covid tests were negative...

Still coughing 6 weeks later; getting better -very- slowly.

Went for a walk 2 weeks ago and nearly passed out.

Since then been topping up my electrolytes and ensuring I take deeper, longer breaths.

Can't wait for this cough to end.

when you have a long term problem like that it is very easy to fall into a habit of breathing wrongly

i.e. breathing very shallowly and not using your diaphram properly

 

Once this becomes a habit it can take positive action to correct it by carefully watching how you breathe

 

worth looking out for - especially if you are getting short of breath when doing things your should be able to do easy

Son just tested positive. I'm currently negative. A neighbour is reporting positive. I reckon there is a fair bit about. Vomiting appears to be a more common symptom this time around.

Over the past two weeks, the Covid positivity rate has again increased slightly and has reached its highest level for 18 months at 13.2% for week ending Jul 14 confirming the resurgence of Covid levels in the general population. This is an important reminder that Covid is not yet a seasonal illness and we are likely to experience further waves as new variants emerge and immunity levels wane.

What is a little strange is with my son there

is no sign of respiratory impact, purely headaches and gastrointestinal. Another neighbour had these symptoms go through 3 out of 4 of the family but didn't COVID test.

Daughter and son in law had it a few weeks back. Main symptom was a horrendous headache for 5 days

 

I have had it for the past week but my only symptoms were a bit of a snotty nose and bunged up feeling - and i am a bit wheezy ~(asthmatic)

Fortunately, Coronavirus number are relatively low. I wonder if the levels of colds (I have a stinking one right now), flu and other viruses is keeping the numbers down. I guess those viruses have had a lot longer to evolve. The flu numbers are really high, and with the charts below, it's clear why hospitals are struggling.

Lots of upset with people booking covid jabs on NHS then being turned away - the main 75 age limit seems to be the issue. I understand flu jabs are free for over 65, and I beleive Covid still has a higher mortality rate than flu, so it does raise some questions. What I find particularly unpalatable is the fact you can buy a Covid jab for £100 so not a level playing field. I've come across quite a few companies that offer free flu jabs as a perk, although it can be in the interests of the employer as you are less likely to be off sick. Has anyone come across free Covid jab as a perk of their job?

I paid £90 for my Covid jab last week.  Free flue jab next week.

Flu jabs are £15-20. Charging £100 for a COVID jab seems obscene.

 

I know that the COVID jabs are new and the pharma companies need to recoup their investment but COVID can still be deadly and that's just gouging.

@Ditto its been a large park of our Cover reducing/sickness management for over 15 years that we get a free Flu jab. prior to covid a company used to come in and do it on site which was great. Now we just get a voucher and book a slot at boots.

Wouldn't providing the same for covid jabs help towards that? Would it be worth the expense to a company? As for the common cold, there is no vaccine. If you interested, it's worth reading the background of why.

 

I haven't dug too deep, but the 65 versus 75 for flu and covid remains a mystery to me at the moment. Presumably it's based on clinical reasons, financial or most likely a combination of both. I get a free flu jab now, as have had Covid 4 times and it has affected me and it puts me at risk. I won't get a free Covid jab though ... I am not a high enough risk to others.

Used to get free Flu jabs here where I work, but because of budget constraints these are no longer being offered.  Short sighted in my opinion if you end up taking a week off because you get the Flu.  Was one of the few 'perks' we had here, but most of these having been removed to save some cash.

I had one NHS free flu jab, then the age was moved up.  Work DO pay, and I do get one.  This weekend if I can...

Our free flu voucher scheme moved to voucher express last year and it was a pretty awful transition, by the sounds of it most people never managed to get an appointment. But they changed a bunch of things for this year and it was great, had my voucher pretty much before we broke up for the summer and was booked in for the jab in early September.
