After being away from the hobby for about 10 years my youngest boy decided he wants to start playing Warhammer 40k. I sold all my models years ago so after buying the new starter set, which is excellent with the terrain included. And after buying a Combat Patrol Blood Angels which he wants to play. And pr-ordering the new Orks codex and re-learning the new rules I'm now building and painting sets for him 😆 Seems as my wife said its more for me now ! But I'm really enjoying getting back into the hobby, it's something I didn't realised I was missing in my life. I'm older (60 ) but a bit wiser and the fact a year ago Cryptic Cabin opened a store a minutes walk from my house with warhammer clubs it was inevitable ! Still expensive but unlike my younger self I can just about afford it ! Latest Space Marines codex looks interesting, some models now retired. Many which I used to own! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IiHDZO0xYtE

Sounds like Star Citizen pricing .....

£69:99 cheaper than I expected. I won't be pre-ordering it but maybe pick it up later in the year. I've got far too many games to complete and the Zelda Ocarina of time remake on the switch 2 will be out around that time as well.

Was a bit wild in this part of the country !! https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c36yjrnyyz1o All the schools are closed in this area due to being within the red alert area. Staff seem to be coming into our office a lot as we have air con, and the computer rooms are fully booked....

User based policy. The expected users are showing in the logs showing they are being blocked but it also shows events being dropped. -
Website not blocking on Meraki Firewall
Slarty66 replied to Slarty66's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
How do we block these ? -
We have a meraki firewall and for some reason we cannot block https://definitelyscience.com/ It is in Content Filtering and in the students policy. We have Games in the categories and we have layer 7 Gaming blocked. It will block on some of the student computers in the academy but we still have a lot of machines that just wont block this website. It's a real puzzle and its strange as every other game site is blocked!

Slarty66 replied to bravebirdie's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall

Having watched the first five episodes I would say its Sci-fi, satire, Black comedy. Very clever writing form Vince Gilligan , lots of red herrings. But I've watched the series again as Episode 5 changes everything.... The clues have been there since the start!

Anyone having problems with the Keystoke / Website logging only monitoring staff? We can't see students as we used to in the older version.
-
It was the Firewall, all sorted now. Thank you 👍

We can see staff screens but student screens come up with this error message 'No online group members found. Please ensure you are viewing thumbnails for the correct group' Probably something easy to fix...it's been a long time since we set up Senso....

The first album I ever bought was KISS Alive II when I was 11. I remember listening to the song Shock Me and the extended guitar solo kicked in. I wanted to start to learn to play the guitar then and there. 48 years later I'm still playing thanks to hearing Ace and his raw guitar style. I've played in bands and recorded various projects over the years since, I may not have made a career in music full time but it was his playing that made me love playing guitar. And looking online today you can see the various guitarists that were inspired by his talent. R.I.P. Ace

Picked up a Nintendo Switch 2 last week so I've been playing Donkey Kong Bananza and the upgraded version of Breath of the wild. Also started the Zelda The Wind Waker... and I forgot how bad the camera was on it .... PS5 still playing Balders Gate 3.

We used to have a Palo Alto which would decrypt traffic. The Meraki doesn't and it would seem this bug is know. We tried disabling QUIC and it works to a point, the more persistent students will still get by this. We've made teachers aware of this so it's more classroom management. Students shouldn't be hitting F5 constantly in a lesson anyway!

We use a Meraki firewall in our academy, we recently noticed students getting pass the filtering for one particular games site azgames. Looking at the logs of computers students could do this on we noticed that students could bypass the URL blocklist by hitting the F5 key multiple times until it let them access the site. This only happens with this one website a real puzzle as it blocks every other website on our blocklist. Anyone have this problem?

We are experiencing a strange problem with one of our IT computer rooms with our Meraki Firewall not blocking websites that are blocked in other rooms. Looking at the Event logs the computers are showing that the firewall is blocking website in layer 7 games but students are still able to get to these sites. We have Senso as well and we did wonder if this is clashing with the settings in the Firewall but as we only set that to Logging and not blocking we don't think it's that. All the Vlans are exactly the same as other computers in the academy, we have a student policy that we have our blocked wesbites. But no matter what we do this room just wont block any website apart from You tube which is set in the restricted you tube option. Although it is only 8 computers it is in the SEN area and although they have T.A.'s with them they want a lot of the internet locked down. We have contacted Meraki and Senso and both can't figure out what is causing this problem.

One of England's largest school academies to go phone-free
Slarty66 replied to 6Foot2's topic in General Chat
https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/news/bristol-news/portishead-secondary-bans-mobiles-during-10280648 Where I work mobile phones are banned but students ignore this and it causes no end of problems for the Pastoral team. When staff ask for student to hand them over they are met by dissent or in the worst cases students get violent towards staff. They also use it to message their friends to arrange meeting up during classes. And I see them calling parents to complain about the way they are being treated etc Working in IT we tend to walk around the school more than teachers and honestly it's a huge problem. Teachers want them banned and I'm sure a lot of parents would back the school in a scheme such as the one at that school. I imagine it's all down to money but it's a problem that schools will have to sort out with government help. -
His cameo as a Blind Priest in Young Frankenstein shows his skill at comedy, he ad-libbed the line at the end of the scene.

Original Iron Maiden singer Paul D'Anno dies, aged 66
Slarty66 replied to 6Foot2's topic in General Chat
Sad news. First band I ever saw was Iron Maiden supporting Judas Priest 1980. Only time I saw them with him as the vocalist but as much as I like Bruce Dickenson's vocals I actually thought Di'Anno's vocals fitted the raw power of the music a lot better. I know people that knew him and the said he was a very humble person. Bit of a lovable rogue but lived his life to the full.
