LeMarchand Posted April 25, 2021 Posted April 25, 2021 The preachy last episode of Falcon was awful, I imagine we are going to have to get used to this from now on. I'm the other way. I sympathised with the Flag Smashers cause (but not their methods) and thought it was important that, having shown that the heroes also sympathised, that they didn't just floss over it because AMERICA is the best, most important, most beautiful nation in the world. (cf the aforementioned Outside the Wire). 2

LeMarchand Posted April 26, 2021 Posted April 26, 2021 This guy pretty much summed up by view, but everyone is entitled to their opinion. (may contain strong potty words) How did I know he'd also hate post-Kelvin Trek and Disney Star Wars (plus most stuff that was slightly liberal)? Can't decide if he is American or has seen the hits that ranty Yanks get for similar pieces. Most spend a lot more time posting about stuff they hate rather than stuff they love. Guess it's easier to get those hits that way. If he actually liked more than a couple of things and I had the sort of spare time he does, I could find something to do just as good a job of eviscerating. Each to their own, though - if you didn't like F&tWS, fair enough.
TIOAOA Posted April 26, 2021 Posted April 26, 2021 For All Mankind S2 just finished, excellent show @mavhc I concur - I couldn't watch it fast enough, stayed up well past my bedtime to watch the last episode, so sleepy now
6Foot2 Posted April 27, 2021 Posted April 27, 2021 5Foot2 just finished the box set of Starstruck [iPlayer, 6 episodes] Rose Matafeo. I found it to be fairly standard 'relationship gone wrong, then right, etc...' while the other person in the house really liked it.

Dos_Box Posted May 5, 2021 Posted May 5, 2021 Invincible on Prime Three episodes in. It's rather good. I've been watching that, it's rather good.
hallb15 Posted May 5, 2021 Posted May 5, 2021 I've just got round to watching Sense8 on Netflix. A few years old now but I really enjoyed season 1 and the 2 hour first episode of season 2 did not disappoint.

Each to their own, though - if you didn't like F&tWS, fair enough. He's a Scottish author and with (apparently) over a million books sold and the Drinker side is his alter-ego. His main gripe about many films is poor plots, bad writing, awful characters and unrealistic responses/actions. If you watch many of his vids you will often see him compare many films that flopped to others whuich did much better and point out why. His channel is very successful and I've been following him since before he hit the YouTube zeitgeist but I don't agree with all of his reviews (Mandalorian I'm looking at you here!). His Ford v Ferrari review is well worth a watch to see how he does his reviews (occasional potty word warning!):
Dos_Box Posted May 5, 2021 Posted May 5, 2021 I should also add, I've finally got around to watching Vikings and kicking myself for not having done so long ago. Gripping TV, I'm about 2/3rds the way through the second season and hoping it doesn't crash and burn!
Garacesh Posted May 5, 2021 Posted May 5, 2021 The Mrs and I have been bingeing The Circle recently. Clocked the US copy on Netflix, gave S01E01 a bash expecting it to be a bit drab, but it turned out to be super entertaining. We finished US S01 and are now making our way through the UK flavour until the US S02 finishes and we can binge that.
River Posted May 5, 2021 Posted May 5, 2021 I've just got round to watching Sense8 on Netflix. A few years old now but I really enjoyed season 1 and the 2 hour first episode of season 2 did not disappoint. I watched the first season, and really enjoyed it and just kept watching. Waiting until I have a few days off so that I can watch the 2nd season over several days 1
BlueNine Posted May 5, 2021 Posted May 5, 2021 On series 4 of Line of Duty and trying to avoid spoilers like the plague, really engrossing series better than I thought it would be! 1
6Foot2 Posted May 5, 2021 Posted May 5, 2021 We are "box setting" Man Down (All4 via Amazon Fire Stick). We have just finished series 2, including the two Christmas specials) 1
LeMarchand Posted May 6, 2021 Posted May 6, 2021 Finished the second season of The Gift on Netflix, which was as good as S1. Looking forward to the third and final season later this year. Almost makes me want to visit Turkey. Watched the first ep of Sky One's Intergalactic. Pretty bad; may give it one more episode, but that will have to be a HUGE improvement to go for a third.
Rob_D Posted May 6, 2021 Posted May 6, 2021 Watched the first ep of Sky One's Intergalactic. Pretty bad; may give it one more episode, but that will have to be a HUGE improvement to go for a third. I enjoyed Intergalactic, but then pulpy "don't think about it too hard" sci-fi is very much my jam.

For me, Intergalactic had bad/OTT acting, unlikeable characters, poor FX and made little sense. If they hadn't had the stuff about the mystery character at the end, it definitely would have been one and done. 1
Boredguy Posted May 6, 2021 Posted May 6, 2021 Been watching Shadow and Bone on Netflix, certainly an interesting series, but shame it's only the 8 episodes so far
CalmBlueOcean Posted May 6, 2021 Posted May 6, 2021 I should also add, I've finally got around to watching Vikings and kicking myself for not having done so long ago. Gripping TV, I'm about 2/3rds the way through the second season and hoping it doesn't crash and burn! I'd say it just gets better and better as the seasons carry on. Looks like their budget increased season on season, as the production values seem to get bigger and better, lending more realism to the battle scenes, Kattegat and beyond.

LeMarchand Posted May 6, 2021 Posted May 6, 2021 Things we've watched recently and desperately want another season to be produced: The Witcher Shadow and Bone Cobra Kai As Meatloaf would say, two outta three ain't bad. Shadow & Bone will probably get another season, but the other two are due to be released late this year. Edit: Ninja'd.
