Still not working here. ☹️

iTrent here too. 😣 Every month I get someone coming to me to ask how to access their payslips. It is beyond the capabilities of some staff.

We moved from SIMS to Arbor last year and as others have said above, Arbor are very experienced at this and made it pretty smooth sailing for us. Where we experienced issues was with third parties who sync with SIMS. They all have difference processes for the move and each have their own timescales and costs. Parentpay were the worst for us - least helpful, longest timescale and most expensive.

I stopped watching Star Trek after Discovery moved from Netflix - some time ago now! None of the trailers I've seen have made me thought it was worth forking out for Paramount+ for. Is there anything else on Paramount+ that might make it worthwhile?

AppleID account locked - can't reset iPad
hallb15 replied to hallb15's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
I finally managed to get the iPad restored. I used the Apple Devices App instead of iTunes. It failed the restore process twice but each time the progress bar on the iPad got a little bit further so i persevered and on the third attempt it has restored successfully. Mosyle has picked it up and applied the correct group settings for wallpaper etc... I'll just have to create a new AppleID for the member of staff. -
A member of staff has brought their iPad (9th Gen) to me because it is constantly asking them to verify their apple account by entering the password in settings. When they try to enter their password they get "Verification Failed. An unknown error occurred." When I try resetting their password via iforgot.apple.com it says "This account is locked. This account is locked and cannot be used." No reasons given, or options on how to unlock the account. We use Mosyle MDM (free) and although it can communicate with the iPad for some things like removing apps, restarting etc., when I try to remove the activation lock Mosyle just gives "Whoops! An unkown error occurred trying to disable Activation Lock." Attempting to Erase the iPad with Mosyle has no effect. I would just create a new AppleID and use that, but without being able to sign out of the current AppleID, or erase the iPad, this isn't an option. I've put it into restore mode by holding the power and home buttons in and connected it to a PC with iTunes. It attempts the restore, then after about 5 minutes iTunes gives the error "The iPad could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1109)." I've tried a few times, with my desktop and a laptop, with the same result each time. Any ideas what else I can try?

I asked ChatGPT to do a DPIA for me - just as a guide before considering asking our DPO. This is what it came up with: 5. Assessment of Risks to Data Subjects Risk Likelihood Impact Mitigation Unauthorized access to personal data Medium High Use of encryption (at rest and in transit), strong authentication, limited data retention. Data breach via third-party integrations Medium High Conduct third-party risk assessments, limit API permissions, allow user control over integrations. Inaccurate or outdated data Low Medium User control over content; ability to edit or delete entries. Misuse of sensitive data (e.g., location, contact details) Medium Medium Informed consent required; granular permission settings in app and mobile OS. Based on the privacy statement (thanks @paulkerton I was reading them on the app store when your post came through) and the above its a definite no.

It is currently on her personal phone, but she wants it to be installed on her school issued iPad as well.

Has anyone heard of an app called 24me? https://www.twentyfour.me/ I have a member of staff who wants to synchronise it with the calendar of her school email account, but its asking for access to resources that require admin approval.

Same here. SIMS and FMS both giving the Eligibility error...

I got everyone to log out. Always do just to be on the safe side. Perhaps I'm overly cautious!

The patch (28955) worked here too.

Same issue here. The only email I can find that is in any way relevant is one in March stating that this summer will be the last census in SIMS 7. Our School Bursar has contacted School ICTS who support our SIMS and they have replied with this:

It was your enthusiasm for Season 3 that made me watch it in the first place!

Whilst recovering from a hernia op, I've watched quite a lot of TV over the last couple of weeks. Dr Who (BBC iPlayer) Season 1 with Ncuti Gatwa. It's taken me this long to watch after I tried S01E01: Space Babies when it was released in 2024 and was put off. I really wanted to like this season but I found it all a bit dull. The Christmas special was better. Maybe it was the pain meds I was taking? I started season 2 and enjoyed the first couple of episodes but it hasn't left me desperately waiting for the next episode. October Faction (Netflix) I enjoyed this, although a couple of the lead characters were a bit lacklustre and I found Fred Allen's character annoying and not very believable. I was disappointed there wasn't a season 2 as it left quite a big cliffhanger at the end. From reading online about why there was no season 2 commissioned, I've put Locke and Key on my watch list. The Wheel of Time (Amazon Prime) Season 1 was interesting and definitely worth a watch although the ending was a bit of an anticlimax. Unfortunately, I found another, more enjoyable program to watch which has taken all my time... I hope to return to Season 2 and 3 at some point. Resident Alien (Netflix) I watched seasons 1 and 2 and really enjoyed the mix of sci-fi and comedy drama, particularly Alan Tudyk as the alien. His childish antics with the boy are hilarious. I'm looking forward to Season 3 which is currently on Sky but I'll have to wait for it to come to Netflix.

SC-900: Microsoft Security, Compliance, and Identity
hallb15 replied to Mark182's topic in Cloud Services
SC-900 for free? Yes please! -
Agree with all the above. I would add that the end of Skeleton Crew E2 left me wanting more so that's a good sign. Disney tend to stick to the weekly release of episodes like old fashioned telly and I like that. Stops you binge watching a whole series in one go and gives you time to consider the story in anticipation of the next episode.

Practical Assessments in Job interviews
hallb15 replied to Danny11616's topic in How do you do....it?
This is very tricky to answer as only the person who set the technical task knows what they are trying to get out of you. Remember that you've made it this far through the recruitment process though, so they've obviously seen something in you that they like. Try not to overthink it. Treat it like any other problem and don't be afraid to start with the basics and work your way up to more complex issues. If the only thing you know about the assessment is that it will be on an iPad, have a browse on Edugeek at common iPad issues in schools. Maybe take a known, working USB cable with you - nothing wrong with showing a bit of initiative. Good luck and don't forget to let us know how you get on. -
Belated Happy Birthday @ICTDirect_Dave Sorry I missed it!

I have two buildings connected via two US-16-XG switches, with ports 1-4 aggregated to give a 40Gb connection. I'm using UF-MM-10G modules. If I recall correctly, I set each one up individually and manually set to 10Gb first before aggregating. The other switches in the same cabinets are all connected using unifi UDC direct attach copper cables and are at 10Gb. I have these all set to manual and 10Gb. I didn't experience any loss of connectivity. I'm sorry this isn't much help to you, but at least you know it is possible.
