If the bar is moving on the volume mixer, it may be outputting to a different sound device. Typically laptops have a sound device associated with the HDMI output, probably called something like 'HD Audio output'. The laptop speaker output device is normally called something with the word speakers in it. Anyway have a play around and see what sound devices you can output to. Have the laptops ever been connected to a bluetooth device? If so you could also try turning off bluetooth to rule that out.

I would advise caution allowing content from a personal device to be displayed to the class - who knows what interests the teacher has and what photos they have on their iPad...

Try a different USB port - I've had laptops that won't boot from USB3 ports but will from USB2.

We've got some Dell Latitude 3190 laptops from the DfE that have been in storage for a while. When I've come to test them before giving them out to families in need, some of the batteries are failing (Flashing orange LED when plugged in, dead when not plugged in) Dell website says 'fatal battery failure.." These batteries are built in, not removable, but I've tried tried disconnecting the battery cable overnight and then reconnecting which didn't make any difference. We don't have the funds to replace these batteries as they are approx £40 each. Does anyone know if there is a way to 'recondition' them back into some kind of life?

Do you have line of sight between the buildings? You could use a wifi point to point link. If it's only for 5 people to use occasionally this would more than suffice.

I've been using plusnet mobile for several years without any issues with my iPhone 8. Until a couple of weeks ago when I noticed that I was unable to use mobile data. I can make/receive calls but no data. The phone shows 3G next to the plusnet logo on the top left, where it used to show 4G. When I open an app that requires data it brings up the error "Could not activate mobile data network. Turn on mobile data or use Wi-Fi to access data." It works fine when connected to WiFi. I've tried various things based on recommendations from various google searches such as: Removing and re-inserting the SIM. Force restarting the iphone. Resetting Network Settings. Updating to iOS 15.7. Erasing all content and restoring from backup. Erasing all settings and setting up as a new phone. None of the above has made any difference. I was starting to think that there was something physically wrong with the phone when I tried my Wife's (SMARTY mobile) SIM in the phone and it worked straight away. So I tried contacting Plusnet support who, although being pleasant to talk to, follow a limited script which leads them to say that the phone must be faulty, even though I can prove it works fine with a different provider's SIM. I've run out of ideas so have ordered a Lyca mobile SIM to try. If it works, then great I get data back but I'd still like to know what the reason for it not working with Plusnet is... Any edugeek ideas?

The structural design of the building will have a big impact on wifi performance, which makes it hard to accurately predict what the best configuration is for your needs. I would suggest you do your own wifi survey using a laptop and something like inSSIDer so you can see with your current setup where the weak points are and plan for extra APs in those areas. An AP in each classroom may turn out to be overkill. You could buy just one new AP and try that out in a few locations to work out how many you will need and in which classrooms. As an example, we have two buildings and the newer 'temporary' building has much thinner walls than the old building so we use the Lite version in that building and the Pro version in the main building. If you follow the advice in the DfE Wireless Networks Standards document, you should be installing WiFi 6 standard APs. I use 4Gon for purchasing UniFi equipment as they offer the best pricing and their website is updated regularly so their stock levels give you a good idea of availability - which has been an issue recently with UniFi kit.

I would set it up as a new MFD on a new IP addr. Re-using the old IP is likely to cause issues that you can do without. I have one GPO for all printers, but you'll know what suits your setup the best.

NetSupport does keyword monitoring. It works very well allowing you to set which categories result in a snapshot of the offending word being typed and which are just logged etc.

Biostore support was always good before they were taken over by Iris. Now it is very hard to get hold of someone who knows anything about the product.

I've always used AVPartsmaster for replacement lamps and always go for the cheaper, compatible lamps without any issue. We only have two projectors left in school now though as we're using interactive flat panels now so I've not bought a lamp in a while.

Have you tried the USB2 port on the laptop, instead of the USB 3.2 ports? How long is the USB cable from the SB660 to the laptop? I've had some struggle in the past with longer cable runs (even under the recommended 5M max) Do you have a short USB cable you could test it with?

I agree and can't help thinking that the fact we know what happens to Obi Wan in A new hope takes the edge off any fight scenes as we already know the outcome. It is still an enjoyable watch though.
