I'm still trying to get into Star Trek: Discovery but it's not really scratching the right itch for me.

Watched the episode with the time loop last night, quite enjoyed it, and realised what it is.. It's just that I find the 'new'(? old?) Klingons are just a bit rubbish!

DIS + PIC are my two favourite incarnations of Trek! DIS S2 is Klingon-lite and S3 is Klingon free (IIRC). None in PIC either.

Pfft. Right now I think I'm at TNG > Voyager > DS9 > Dis > TOS (I seriously can't stand Kirk, fite me)

I couldn't tell you what it is specifically about Dis' Klingons, I just don't find them very intimidating, and I think I just can't be bothered reading subtitles at 10pm when I'm in bed :p

DIS klingons take a little bit of getting used to, but I really enjoyed them.

Stick with the series though. The second half of it takes a rather good turn and it only improves during S2.

I bounced really hard off Discovery S2 (Enjoyed 1 and 3 though).

Anyone try Star Trek Lower Decks? I enjoyed it more than I though I would.

Like most comedies, you have to give it a few to get into the characters, but I found it OK (but wouldn't be upset if it got the chop).

Is it out in the UK yet?

22nd Jan, Amazon Prime.

You rate Voyager above DS9? Voyager? Really? VOYAGER???

OK then.

Ooo, that's good news. I wonder if someone over here has got the recent Short Treks yet?

Couple of episodes into Bridgerton on NetFlix, was resigned to having to watch yet another period drama with the other half, but pleasantly surprised so far. Time will tell.

It always had potential. Shonda Rhimes doesn't tend to make bad telly!

Finished S2 of The Umbrella Academy, which I think I enjoyed more than S1. Looking forward to the next season.

Thinking about dropping Raised By Wolves (the Ridley Scott thing). Feels like a movie stretched out to series length.

DS9 Quark and the numerous subplots with his kid and that other kid annoyed me too much :p

Voyager had a few shark-jumpy moments (Kes' exit, being the prime example) but otherwise was thoroughly enjoyable. And Janeway was a badass.

DS9 got good in the last couple of seasons with proper arcs, rather than the earlier baddy of the week type seasons. Voyager kept up a good arc throughout I thought, probably cos of the nature of "must get home, mkay".

Voyager reset every week, it was basically the Dungeons and Dragons cartoon. "Oh, here's a way home, oh wait, we cause use it because of moral reasons"

DS9 copied B5 so was the best Trek

And Enterprise only exists to make Voyager look good in comparison

If we're talking Enterprise as in Captain Archer, then for once I actually agree with you. Discovery has redeemable features even if I do find the Klingons boring. Enterprise was just.. Boring.

I did do the next episode of Discovery last night and I am starting to enjoy it little a bit more. I do wonder how they're going to retcon out the Spore Drive though 'cause that's just OP and isn't this supposed to be pre-Kirk?

It's a bit of a fudge, but does kinda work. Unless someone is what I have dubbed an "OTIS" (Old Trek Is Sacred). These divide their lives between message boards decrying anything made post-Kelvin or making wild claims such as, "Picard has been dropped and will never see a single episode made" and watching angry YouTube pundits who feed their hatred.

It's an inventive way out and I like it. There are bits you simply have to accept rather than question, but the end result is pleasing.

Finished the first season of Lovecraft Country. (Amazon Prime, may also be on Sky Atlantic or possibly Now TV)

Generally really good, and certainly highlights just how bad things were for black people in the US. I'd never heard of "Sundown Towns" and while I knew stuff had happened in Tulsa, I knew it as a "Race Riot" whilst now it is known (more accurately) as a massacre. Did feel that things should've been a bit more like the titular author's work and that a show that exposed the horrors of racism ended on a somewhat racist note. Not sure where the proposed S2 will go, given the events of the finale...

Lupin on NetFlix. While waiting for the oldest to get her back side in gear for our next episode of Bridgerton, we decided to watch something else as a stop gap, this was on the top 10 for NF, so we gave it a go, quite imaginative heist caper stuff, dubbed into English from the original French, but we will continue on this one too!
