Coronavirus: General discussion (see opening post for rules)
DJ-1701 replied to Dos_Box's topic in General Chat
Apparently anyone that knows him knows he 'admires' teachers... I commented on his expanding replies that he certainly put his foot in it, also pointed out that the effort put in by school staff and students has been immense. -
Unfortunately a lot of control is only workstation only. When trailing I've basically only set the Run registry command for OneDrive to only be active in the people I want to have the software work on.

100% agree with @Katy here. So I will vote pink to balance it out. Though to be sure I think I need a closer look, I can supply a delivery address if that helps.

[sims] Seemingly random SIMS Filesets on Solus
DJ-1701 replied to synaesthesia's topic in MIS Systems
The SIMS Customer Success Team e-mailed me earlier stating that as of today 1801 is the latest fileset. Very odd that 1707 and 1708 have popped in. -
Eh, magicians have been preforming illusions for years, parts of objects are cover before movement is made, would need more coverage before I came to a belief or firm conclusion on this one.

[sims] Reports using old data files (and OneDrive)
DJ-1701 replied to DJ-1701's topic in MIS Systems
It's a mix, though really SIMS should not be storing temporary files in 'Documents', it's a very poor design. If they were stored in %Temp% it wouldn't be an issue, nor would it be an issue if they generated the Excel files using different methods. Microsoft Office files in OneDrive folders will by default redirect to the Online stored resources so they can be worked on by multiple people at once, this is in case you have shared a file for editing. This can be disabled by disabling File collaboration with OneDrive, but of course this is a useful feature for normal Office files. Talking to SIMS support, the path for using the shell Documents folder tempSimsRpt is hard coded, which is a royal pain and shouldn't in my opinion. There are details on the support site saying SIMS is not compatible with OneDrive, but last I checked didn't have much detail on that. The only issue I have found is with the tempSimsRpt directory and the old macro .xls excel templates and associated ReportData.* files it tries to grab data from. -

Obviously someone thinks they are a comedian. -
Well in this case I would have one Group Policy Object an OU level up from where you have with Item-level targeting restricted by specific OU and an or section by Security Group.

I would reply back asking for clarity.

[sims] Script /Method to Uninstall SOLUS 3 Agent From Clients?
DJ-1701 replied to JRA's topic in MIS Systems
If you take a look at this script https://github.com/DJ-1701/RemoteMSIUninstaller and change $DisplayName = "Quicktime" to $DisplayName = "SOLUS 3 Agent" and run the script as an Administrator that has access to the remote machines, you can use this script to remove the Solus MSI. -

Interesting, the £142 per month difference between 20TB and 21TB is now only a £2 difference. That might not be correct either, but it certainly seems more likely than £142. Cheers.
