ICTDirect_Dave Posted May 28, 2019 Posted May 28, 2019 Started watching Vikings over the weekend. Its decent. A little bit of a Sons of Anarchy style show, what with the violence and manly hugging. The characters show promise though, we'll see how it goes. Also watched the first episode of What We Do in the Shadows. Excellent stuff.. Several laugh out loud moments.
DalekSec Posted May 28, 2019 Posted May 28, 2019 Brooklyn NINE NINE!!! Series 6 Loved it, one of the better series if not the best. Summed up in one word multiple times? Cool, cool, cool, cool, cool, cool 1
blueday Posted May 28, 2019 Posted May 28, 2019 Just started watching Firefly (haven't seen it for years). Nathan Fillion looks so young...
BKGarry Posted June 3, 2019 Posted June 3, 2019 I watched Good Omens on Amazon prime over the weekend with on of my Housemates, was very enjoyable.
CAWJames Posted June 4, 2019 Posted June 4, 2019 Thumbs up for Good Omens here too, thoroughly enjoyed it. Need to reread the book
jaminben Posted June 4, 2019 Posted June 4, 2019 Chernobyl mini series... really enjoying this at the moment, probably my favorite show of the year so far. 4
caffrey Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 Thinking of a tour of Chernobyl for my 50th because of this show - mind you I think everyone will be going now and spoil it
witch Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 Chernobyl mini series... really enjoying this at the moment, probably my favorite show of the year so far. Enjoyed the first episode. Do wonder how we would feel if the Russians made a miniseries out of a British disaster - Grenfell, or maybe something IRA related? I don't think we would be that keen
FishCustard Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 Wouldn't bother me personally, although I can imagine that some would be. That said, Chernobyl was a hugely important incident - both in terms of scale, how unprecedented it was and the systemic failures of management that led to it. I wouldn't put it in the same category as Grenfell.

FishCustard Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 I do agree, I just couldnt think of anything else appropriate at the time. I'd probably say the King's Cross fire is of a similar importance, perhaps? Anyway, we're drifting! 1
FishCustard Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 Not a new show, but I've recently found a few documentary channels (e.g. Discovery, other smaller Freeview ones) that show Air Crash Investigation/Mayday and have gotten hooked on it. It's fascinating to see how the industry learns from failure, and how despite all the safeguards, accidents still happen - usually due to the "Swiss cheese problem" of small errors adding up to a big issue).
Joanne Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 I love Air Crash Investigation. They have some on YouTube too.... can't get enough. Especially when I'll be getting on a plane in August 1

mikeprice Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 +1 for Chernobyl. Finished it last night. Awesome. Yup - great last episode - especially loved the description of what happened to cause the explosion - very well explained and without thousands of pounds of IT equipment - who knew people could explain stuff without???
FishCustard Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 I love Air Crash Investigation. They have some on YouTube too.... can't get enough. Especially when I'll be getting on a plane in August They're amazing, aren't they? Makes me much less worried about flying actually, knowing all the detailed work that goes into safety. We're flying in July - I keep annoying my girlfriend by saying I'll download some to watch on the plane (that or bring a book like "QF32" or "The Langoliers") but she's banned me from anything aircraft-related! Apparently either (a) they'll think I'm a terrorist, or (b) the plane will think "ooh that's a good idea, let's get rid of #1 engine..."
mavhc Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 She's worried about the machines gaining sentience and trying to kill us? Better take the 2 Terminator films to watch. I hear they're making a third one now
phreak Posted June 10, 2019 Posted June 10, 2019 Finally got up to Season 4 of Lucifer. I am enjoying binging it but I must say the episode 26 of Season 3 was a bit rubbish. I mean if you are going to do the voice of god surely it has to be Morgan Freeman!? Also, just caught up on the latest season of Taskmaster which both the missus and myself are enjoying.

After all, who else should play god but the creator of the characters? Alternatively, I think the missed a trick as I'd have love to have seen James Callis (BSG 2003: Gaius Baltar) as God. We'd already had Cylon no 6 as Goddess, to me it made sense to have the other of BSG's "Angels" playing God.
pooley Posted June 10, 2019 Posted June 10, 2019 Season 2 of "Happy" just came out on netflix. Even more messed up than the first series. Loving it

FishCustard Posted June 10, 2019 Posted June 10, 2019 We watched Black Mirror S5 over the weekend. Avoiding spoilers as best I can: episode 1 was good, a nice take on the whole "VR obsession" thing, although if I'd written it it would've had a darker ending! episode 2 was meh, interesting concept but IMO a 30 minute story dragged out for a whole hour. Missed opportunities to drive the points home too. episode 3 was excellent, very clever and enjoyable story.
