About LTurner3692

  1. I use to enjoy breaking them and trying to fix them again for no other reason than I was bored. My uncle worked for Nokia when I was a young kid so I used to watch how he fixed it and then break it again so I could do what he did. Tried doing IT in college and found it to uninspiring, so joined the RAF to do IT, Little did I know that IT was only a very small part of my job, so I left, after a few years out of IT I decided I wanted back in and got a job in a secondary school. It didn't take long to remember what I had forgotten. Been doing this for the last 6 years!
  2. So we have each door set up with two readers on the inside of the door we have the push to break glass to automatically release the door, we run a report twice a day one at 9AM and 9PM we also reset all the cards to auto clock out after midnight (Just to make sure we can get back in if they forget to swipe) we rarely get an issues with it, we also have it set up to do the Roll Call in case of a fire! we have anti-passback also set up so they cant scan in twice. You can set a few different reports up and have them emailed out.
  3. paxton can do it. One reader clocks them in and opens the door as they enter, on the other side you have a second reader to clock them out and open the door.
  4. we use net 2 and have 2 readers on all doors. It works really well.
  5. It's just called a Site-to-site VPN, I don't know if all models do it, However, we use switches to do it in some offices, if its a small building an MX64W should do the trick well.
  6. Yes, Meraki does still offer this. We use it for multiple sites across the world.
  7. Large open plan office, it has its pros and cons. are servers are currently in another building 3 miles away! (i work in the private sector), The office is a swanky new build. we are currently looking at trying to move the servers over however due to the way the building was done, we are struggling with this! Much prefer to be in our own little office where we can actually mention things without causing fear in the room! (Currently undergoing a pen test, trying not to let everyone know this!)
  8. Thanks all, I went with @AButters and it's worked a treat so far!
  9. Normally We the IT Team do, However, this was dictated from above that the admin team get to stay off it, as it will cause to many issues! i completely disagreed with this but was overruled. Hence why i want to do it in a way that keeps them happy to start with, then with the reporting side that i will be able to use, i can start making people change the processes they use. Some processes have never changed.
  10. SO we use Papercut and follow me printing across the 2 sites we currently have, However one team dont use it as it 'impacts the way they work too much', So i want it all to go through papercut so we can track it properly and convince them that the way they currently work isn't the best way. At the moment they have a direct link to the printer, but this cuts out the use of papercut and it doesn't track whats being printed, i know i can go through papercut and set the groups, but i would then have to set it for all the printers and ideally i don't want to do it that way.
  11. Hello All, Is there a way to set a group to print to just one printer? I don't want to restrict anyone else from printing to the same printer, i simply want one group to print to the closest printer without them having to log in to the printer but i would still like to track what is printed.
  12. Make them reliable enough now and people might actually use them more.
  13. In a previous job, the only trains I could get meant I arrived at work 45 mins before I was due to start and always ended up having to wait an hour after work to get the train unless I managed to get out the office 15 mins early! In the end, I started leaving early because I was always in early. It was the main reason I left that job.
  14. Funny enough peak times are when everyone wants/needs to go to work and finish work. The only way around that would be for ALL companies to let people work different hours throughout the day!
  15. Let's face it, In this day and age, people don't want to sit on buses with wannabe gangsters, with people who have poor hygiene. being crammed into a seat that only fits 2 kids, not 2 adults. Plus why would I want to pay £5-£10 to go to the city in these conditions, when I can drive and it costs me the same? I use to take public transport a lot, given the choice i would rather not go out than take it.
