witch Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 Get your PT to send you another plan, that's what you pay him for! That reminds me... I need to harrass mine. I don't think I'll be having any sessions next month... unless I do his tax return for him! Can't really afford another session sadly
witch Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 There must be someone on here who could point out other exercises that do the same as the ones I am doing
Miscbrah Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 Can't really afford another session sadly I'll knock one up for you if you need? Or we can collectively! What's the ambitions witch?
witch Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 I need the same sort of system I have now - I just want to be able to substitute certain exercises, or have more blocks of exercise to choose from so that I can achieve the same fitness goals as I am already heading for. It really is about not knowing what other exercises do which bit! (I can't do the treadmill or cross trainer either, sadly)
Joanne Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 other arm stuff could be bicep curls, tricep pulldown (?) (with the rope) shoulders, military press, pressups You ever used kettlebells @witch ? there's loads of kettlebell stuff which I find easy to do in 45 secs on 15 off fashions...
witch Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 Kettlebells are not possible due to elbow problems I can do pressups - both wide and narrow and curls are a good idea Dunno what a tricep pulldown is. I suppose what I need is someone to do me another block that works all 4 areas - there might be one which does more than one thing and overall the set covers most things I'm just falling to bits. Maybe I should just embrace old age and sit with a cup of tea and some cats 1
Miscbrah Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 I need the same sort of system I have now - I just want to be able to substitute certain exercises, or have more blocks of exercise to choose from so that I can achieve the same fitness goals as I am already heading for. It really is about not knowing what other exercises do which bit! (I can't do the treadmill or cross trainer either, sadly) So, by reading that post above, we're looking at two-day split, and a typical workout will go warmup - weights - cardio, and we're thinking about 60-90 minutes, that right? Can you leave at least a day between gym visits and can you do any more cardio throughout the week or not possible? Also I'm guessing the objectives are a bit more strength and work on cardio too? Soz if already posted work is frantic here.
witch Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 (edited) I do two high level cardio classes - Mon and Wed. I used to do 4 but the feet started disintegrating - hence the gym and PT Go to the gym Tues and Thurs. Do the same thing during both gym visits - 10 min prone bike warmup then all 4 blocks ( 4 exercises per block) and then as many extra blocks as I can do (currently I repeat the first two - aiming for 4 which will mean I have done the whole workout twice). The cardio in the gym visit is more the interval training sort - row as hard as I can for a minute - making sure to keep form etc. Currently the warmup plus the 4 blocks takes me around 55 mins - so with the extra two blocks I am looking at about 70 mins at the moment. witch Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Did the whole workout twice today - yay me! Took my ipod this time which did help although I realised that Mozart isn't the best music for a workout! I haven't a lot on it, mostly Frank Turner which was OK but it is difficult not being able to sing along 1
Matty94 Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 (edited) Did my first Muay Thai training session today! Enjoyed doing something different, but my body going to be sore for the next couple of days! Anyone else does Muay Thai? Edited July 31, 2015 by Matty94
unixman_again Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 We had a delivery of three trampolines and ten spin bikes yesterday. Apparently, the PE staff are going to be running sessions after school for staff and parents. I don't think many parents will turn up but having a bounce on the trampoline could be fun. There is also a rumour they might be extending the hours the gym is open after school. I might start using it sometimes, although I do like watching the body builders at the place I go to.
witch Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 Been good about the gym for some time now. Also tried to cut down on carbs etc Have achieved a bit of a reduction of waist size but that's all Oh well, too late now, off to Cuba tonight
john Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 Been good about the gym for some time now. Also tried to cut down on carbs etc Have achieved a bit of a reduction of waist size but that's all Oh well, too late now, off to Cuba tonight Mojitos are good for you @witch, they contain Lime and Mint both very healthy and good for you I envy the fitness love on here, the commute from South to central London feels like I've done a round with Mike Tyson most days and I need a recovery to just start work But alas the Dr has spoken and I need to do something to improve my health so I may look into a bicycle, I live right next to the Thames so got a nice cycleway along it so that keeps me away from the craaaazy driving in London so that maybe my first step into fitness, assuming I can still ride a bike... I've not been on one since 1999 1
hardtailstar Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 I'm back on a health kick. Too many beer and food fueled weekends recently.
Miscbrah Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 (edited) Did my first Muay Thai training session today! Enjoyed doing something different, but my body going to be sore for the next couple of days! Anyone else does Muay Thai? Been doing it (on and off and mixed) a few years now. You'll get (sorta) used to that. I'm STILL suffering with this shoulder. Spoke to a physio (socially) who recommended NOT doing any exercise on it, and told me if it takes three months to get better then it takes three months, but ALSO implied that it wouldn't NECESSARILY get worse, so I'mma try doing low weight/high rep workouts for a month or so and see if there's any improvement. Did a workout last week and it grumbled, but was better than it had any right to be. Also did a day's labouring Saturday which it grumbled through too. Edited August 3, 2015 by Miscbrah
witch Posted August 15, 2015 Posted August 15, 2015 (edited) Back from Cuba - awesome place - fascinating history and people And lots of mohitos, pina coladas, black beans and rice and amazing fruit Came back to find notification of my foot op a week on Mon to take out the plate they put in last year. Annoyingly i shall still be on holiday - couldnt they have waited one more week? I need to get back to exercising quickly! Edited August 18, 2015 by witch
Miscbrah Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Well I finally caved after over a month of my shoulder SCREAMING and then settling and then training on it and then SCREAMING again. Went to see physio, physio gave me a yank and a dig and a set of exercises and much time off lifting. Guurrghhh. Oh well at least it'll get better now.
jinnantonnixx Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 Keep it up! This is What Happens to Your Body When You Stop Exercising
Miscbrah Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 (edited) Keep it up! This is What Happens to Your Body When You Stop Exercising Oh that was disheartening, thanks. I now feel worse about my month spent eating pies in the night and not doing cardio. Well I guess that's it, pass the steroids: http://new4.fjcdn.com/gifs/Steroids+in+a+nutshell_c4fedf_4570620.gif Edited August 20, 2015 by Miscbrah
Patrick Posted September 7, 2015 Author Posted September 7, 2015 I'm really struggling with my hips in martial arts. Mainly the flexibility. I'm stretching a lot but in this industry you spend a lot of time sat down, and that is definitely not good for hip flexibility. It is getting better just taking longer than i thought it would. Also got a new gym routine to start: Push: 3x5 bench press 3x5 OHP 3x5 inc bench press 3x 10+ dips 3x5 squat pull: 1x5 deadlift 3x6-10 (not decided rep rang) rows 3x 10+ chin ups 3x10 curls Week routine is: monday: Kickboxing + jujitsu tuesday: push wednesday: pull thursday: Kickboxing + jujitsu friday: off Saturday: off Sunday: off Anyone think keeping with the weight routine back to back will hinder me? I'd rather not do pull on friday but will if i have too. Weekend is definitely off. Looking forward to starting the new routine. Yeah, lets start building some hurtin' bombs!
Tesla Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 Gonna weigh myself tonight, hopefully that will kick start me into actually doing something to get fit, as i know i'm going to hate what it says.
MrMat Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 I got a little bit sweaty this morning! Leg day is always fun and my squat is back up to 150kg woop. Here's a rare and sweaty gym selfie from yours truly! (ps. Yes I know wearing a hat in the gym in stupid, it's not even cold! But i love hats. With my hat and earphones on, I am no longer a part of this world!)
Joanne Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 I'm totally lacking motivation at the moment... I've got a Bench Press competition at the end of this month that I'm just doing for funsies. I thought it would motivate me but it hasn't. I could do with losing a few inches on account of all my clothes being really tight now!! Less pizzas and burgers, more turkey and broccoli!!
Tesla Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 I'm totally lacking motivation at the moment... Me too, hence hoping seeingme fat mii will get m into action haha
hardtailstar Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 I'm totally lacking motivation at the moment... I am as well, Convinced myself in the six weeks holiday I would get out and exercise more.... Now its September... 2
