Going to go for a very gentle jog tonight (weather dependent) for the first time in months, wish me luck.

Good luck. Enjoy!

I'm currently doing the Ron Hill #RunEveryDay challenge on the RunningBug website. Means doing at least a mile every day in October whatever the weather; personally I like running in the rain.

I ran just over 2 miles in about 25 minutes. Had to stop a couple of times in the first mile to stretch and try and get rid of a stitch, but I did the last mile in just over 11 minutes. No pains as of yet....

Hahahahah!! It's my hips that ache the most after running usually.

Get your bad self a foam roller and roll your legs on it. Helps a lot.

i don't mind, to a degree, i find it can help keep you cool! but i won't go out if it's torrential, like it was this morning.

I did the Swindon 5mile multi terrain in October 2013. Was soaked to the skin and frozen before the race even started. Soon warmed up once it got under way.

Running in heat is my bug bear; would prefer a run in torrential rain to one in heat. Fortunately, most events and training runs have been reasonable this year.

My dad ran the MK Marathon a couple of years ago and it was roasting, he said that was one of the worst experiences of his life. probably didn't help he'd run the London Marathon a week or so before, mind....

I'm thinking of fighting next year, wonder how that'll go down with the schools? Maybe fight over summer where they can't see the bruises and cuts?

I have the Dublin Marathon on Monday. Not as flat as the MK route I'm told. Following the weather report for Dublin closely at the moment - latest shows 14 degrees, breezy with some rain, which isn't too bad.

First competition fight of any sort? What style you thinking? MMA or MT? If MMA, can you get non-ground-and-pound? Tbh if you're competing proper amateur or inter-club it's less likely you'll get "hurt" properly, but it has risks ofc because of the nature of the sport. I doubt you need telling that too. :)

How's sparring going?

Btw @witch let us know how the hack squats are going if you went with those.

Finally signed up to the gym this week, PureGym are offering £19.99 a month without any fees and starting a new job (hoorah) soon means I can have the time to do it.

Giving Stronglifts a go, essentially just wanna muscle up and feel a bit better. Most weary part for me will be eating so much, but we'll see...

@Miscbrah i didn't get to do a hack squat as my knees seem to have improved. But am now doing some weights as the chest press machine is broken - OMG

Is that a "good" OMG or an "ow" OMG? :)

Yeah it'll be my first comp fight. I'm thinking inter-club kickboxing or MMA without ground and pound. Full contact i am fine with. I'll decide next year if i'm ready and then start the process of finding my comfortable fighting weight.

Went out again last Thursday, managed 2.2 miles in 23.50, and i didn't have to stop (apart from one guy that looked like he was getting my attention, then when i took headphones out, ignored me....weird) Hoping to get out tonight/tomorrow for another. Luckily where i live has so many routes and pathways, it's easy to adapt my route as i run :D

Got the full set of PBs on TheRunningBug now. 2 and a bit years after starting a Couch 2 5k course (May 2013). Fastest mile to date has been 7:52. Still think there's more speed and distance to squeeze out of the legs.

A few lessons learnt from doing the marathon run

Looks worse than it was (no pain) but tape and cream on chest next time to avoid a repeat of the "Shroud of Swindon" as my shirt has been referred to by another runner

Most of my run pics look like I'm chewing a wasp. This one seems to have turned out OK and will be going on display at home with the very nice bling handed out.

Back to Dublin Friday night to run in the Saturday morning Movember 10k.

10 of us from the Swindon Shin Splints running group heading over. Mixture of abilities and experience.

Should be an interesting weekend.
