Thought we might all like a topic where we can discuss our various and varied training, if you're just starting or want to show off your new personal best, let's hear it!

I'm currently training to break through the 1 mile in less than 30 minutes barrier for my swimming. Best I've done so far is 35 minutes and really struggling to get lower than that. May have to start again and build my form up. What's everyone else up to?!

I'm training for a powerlifting comp on the 1st March. My current PBs are Deadlift: 110kg, Squat: 80kg, Bench Press: 40kg.

Trying to get my eating clean but it's SO HARD!! Dem McRibs innit.

Impressive stats! espically the dead! How tall are you?

I lift to aid my swimming but i really should take it more seriously. Bench is 90kg, squat 120 and not done DL for a while.

I'm 5'2". Teeny tiny. Weigh 60kg.

I've never been a good swimmer. Although I used to be able to float about. Think I would just sink now!!!

I struggle to do one 25m length!

I am aiming for triathlon distance by end of the year.

Diet is the hardest part mate. Most people fall in love with the sport their doing but begin to hate the diet. It can get very repetitive. We should share recipes for fit foods to help us a long. Chicken and rice gets old, very very quickly.

I got the diet in first then got hooked on triathlons

Your dead lift and squat is really very good. I see some lads in the gym lifting a hell of a lot less, haha. Squat ass to grass or parallel?

Lift 4x week, cardio 30 mins/day, train Muay Thai 2hrs Fridays. 6' tall, 94kg/207lbs not that lean atm though (dreamer bulk!)

Not pushing maxes on this current routine (high rep) but best lifts were:

Bench - 115kg

DL - 145kg (knackered hip.)

Squat - 100kg (knackered hip.)

Curl - 25kg (set of 5)

Bodyweight pullups - 17

Bleh. :/

How do you find fitting Muay Thai in, in an already busy fitness schedule? I train 4 days a week at the minute, i'd like to take up BJJ or Muay Thai on fridays, but i'm pretty battered with muscle soreness or just generally pretty tired.

All depends on how young you are. I used to lift 3x week and train TMA (Ninpo) 3x week at one stage, but now I'm 32 it's harder and harder to 'bounce back' from injuries or tiredness.

You'll hamper progress in both, is the short answer, but you will at least progress somewhat as you go. DOMS makes training difficult and injuries make lifting difficult.

Gambatte - keep going.

Bench - typically 75kg for 4 sets of 10. (I think "I can bench x" is an over rated statistic.)

Deadlift - usually 70 kgs for 3 sets of 8, although to be honest I only do it once a month if that.

Squats - usually 20 kgs although I don't actually do it.

Pull ups - at least 70, starting with sets of 10, dropping to sets of 7 or 8. I often do over 100. (IMO the only true indicator of upper body strength.)

Dips - same as the pull ups - I superset them just for the extra burn :)

Treadmill running - 30 mins if I can be bothered to do it or if I feel like going home, I'll ride on the cycle rollers for about the same time.

Gym three times a week, and two ballet classes a week, which I think is pretty good for someone a few days shy of 58.

Not bad at all, especially considering the injuries. 17 bodyweight pullups at 94kg is especially impressive! Nicely done.

I'm about the same weight at the minute, around the 95kg mark but I'm a shortarse at 5'10".

I managed 140kg squat for 2 on Saturday so going for 150kg for 1 this week which would be a PB for me :o. I've managed 140 in the past but never breached that before.

Bench is a bit naff at the minute and havent tried a single in a while. My last heavy chest day comprised of 4 sets of 3 at 95kg. Ideally I want 10 at bodyweight which is a loooong way off at the minute.

Deadlift max is 170kg but it's not a pretty lift. Can usually stay pretty tight/clean at 160 but gets messy above that.

Bodyweight pullups - I've no idea! I'd imagine not many at all, 5 if i'm lucky. I neglected my lats for quite while so working hard to bring them on par at the minute.

I'll be going to the gym soon for the first time! :p I'll probably start off doing maybe an hour of cardio every couple of days - then after a few months do some lifting etc. Obviously tips would be appreciated as I'm a complete fitness newb.

Slowly getting back to some form of fitness (if you can call it that), after having knee and ankle problems following a car crash back in July.

Still only going on walks at the moment, did a 4.5 mile walk the other day, ankle was aching afterwards, but not painful, which is an improvement. Trying to lose weight while not being able to exercise is hard. When i'm fit again want to get on my bike, and start playing football again, havent kicked a ball for 8 months now!

hour of cardio every couple of days is a lot for someone who calls themselves a fitness noob. i would do smaller chunks than that, IMO, and thats what i've been advised to do by my physio once my ankle has cleared up.

Also need to join the club, but more in the 'gain weight' category. There's a Pure Gym right around the corner from me, just need to err, sign up.

Again as a n00b, would stronglifts be a good place to start?

Yeahhh! They're never a bad start as long as you know what you're doing. Just keep the weight relatively light and learn the movement, especially if you fancy squats, deadlifts etc, and take it from there.

If you're not 100% sure though, start on the resistance machines to get a feel for the movements and the muscles used etc before moving onto the free weights.

Ass2Grass!!! Was doing some perfecting yesterday in my PT session... I get frustrated in those sessions... stetching and foam rolling specific muscles until my squat is bob on... I just wanna smash the weights!! Suppose it prevents injury though :-p

Two reasonably high-impact classes a week ATM due to arthritis surgery preventing me doing the four classes I used to :(

Used to walk the dog twice a day but we lost him at Christmas. Trying to walk without him but that is sad.

Do a floor routine - press-ups, sit-ups etc twice a week at home.

Now looking to do a cardio session in the gym on the rower and bike as I can no longer run or do anything that is too repetitive on the feet. Also looking to start some sort of weights regime or such.

Those of you who are new to exercise -SPEAK to the people running the gym. They should advise you as to how to start, give you a routine to follow and monitor your progress. Cardio every other day is a bit much for a beginner. A max of three times a week is a good starting point.

For beginners I'd always recommend Scooby's Workshop.

All the nutrition and lifting and exercise info you need to get started. After a good year of that (if lifting as primary goal) read around bodybuilding.com (pinch of salt to hand of course) for new routines.

Still looking for some sort of fitness regime I can do long term. Had a serious car smash when I was 18 and it gives me serious problems now. Broke both my legs and the surgeon made a hash of cutting my muscles and nerves to put the rods in so ended up damaging them and I am now in constant pain. Used to cycle, lift weights and swim. Cant do anything anymore, swimming even one length kills me and I cant even sit on a bike. I am trying to limit my diet to make sure I don't put too much weight on while I see specialist trauma people who will structure a fitness programme to cater for my particular needs, its an absolute nightmare.
