Google Drive - Limiting (size and file types).

I think our storage usage may be about to increase somewhat then. -
Google Drive - Limiting (size and file types).
ThatBoringBloke replied to Koldov's topic in Cloud Services
Google Fundamentals schools have pooled storage of 100Tb (or they will have shortly). As a school we store practically everything in Google Drive and have used about 2.4TB of pooled storage. From memory (may be wrong / have changed), Google file types (Docs, Slides, Sheets, etc) don't count towards total storage. To answer the question though, yes you can set limits. In the Admin console go to Storage > Manage. -

We had this a while back. Tried on Firefox and it worked without issue. Weird.

I'm just impressed that you have the hardware to run it on.

Is there any reason why you're not just using SOLUS to deplou SIMS?

Can you see the actual drive itself? Can you see any other partitions? -
Inherited Network, How do I change the setup to meet our needs
ThatBoringBloke replied to JAB1a's topic in Wired Networks
Depending on the size of the network could you not simply reset all the switches to factory default, and join the switches together. No need to VLAN if its only a small network (though others may say otherwise). -
I'm not going to do it for you but doing something along the lines of the below should work: Open up Notepad Type in the following: Get-AppxProvisionedPackage -Online | Where-Object DisplayName -like Application.Name | Remove-AppxProvisionedPackage -Online Repeat for each app you want to remove. Save the file as a .ps file

You should be able to download the files from the VLSC.

The road to a server-less school
ThatBoringBloke replied to CyBeRkId2002's topic in How do you do....it?
Why not look at redundant Internet connectivity? I have heard of Business 5G offerings, which could in theory provide a robust backup to a SaaS setup. -

We don't do any customising at all. I realised that most of our users simply use the search function to find what they need. Students are on LTSC versions, staff on 21H2. I did make life a bit simpler at one point by having a 'School Apps' folder on the desktop with all the shortcuts to the applications we use, but when no one used it removed the script that put it there.

I just send a resignation email to the head if I spot an unattended unlocked computer. Head always knows its me (by now anyway), but comes to ask the staff member about it anyway. Needless to say computers tend to get locked when unattended.

What Wireless solution do you use?
ThatBoringBloke replied to JMasonHHS's topic in Wireless Networks
Meraki. We were a Unifi site, but Connect the Classroom came along and provided funding WAY above what I have had previously! -
It would depend massively on what's being taught. We no longer have any specific 'ICT Software'. We do however have some 'Computer Science' software. The vast majority of things used these days are web based for us.
-
We are slowly moving away from the 'Traditional' model to Chromebooks in cabinets and "Mutli functional rooms". That said, we are moving to a New build in the next few years and there are currently two 'ICT Suites' still on the plans.

Could just use WDS without an answerfile?

New Servers (hooray) Hyper-V Configuration
ThatBoringBloke replied to Warwick_Tech's topic in Windows Server 2019
Keep it simple. Have at least one physical DC. Have two HyperV Hosts that run the live VM's Have a third Host that the other two replicate to. No need to over complicate. -
Has anyone tried or managed to do get this to work? I mean a simple WDS deployment without any answer answer file. Create reference image, upload to WDS server, apply image. Keep getting an error during Offline servicing. Same issue applies to a 21H2 build. works fine with 21H1. I'm beginning to think its the ISO from the VLSC.

Network Printer Install (Access Denied)
ThatBoringBloke replied to craigcamacho's topic in Windows 10
Simillar issues here and again only with Follow Me printers. Actual physical printers deploy fine. Currently If I log in as 'The Administrator' account, install the printer from the share then restart the pc and log in as a student it occasionally works, but it seems a bit intermittent. I'm still trying to detemine why some time it works and other time it doesn't.
