I've just checked my permissions in Android for the microphone, turned off a whole bunch of apps that had access to it.

Happened again, this time for this thread I get a notification and I've not posted in it. My version is 5.2.137 (build 200324), this appears to be the latest version on the play store (15JAN17).

There are turned off which is why I'm confused.

Like I said there has been an issue with GCP, not sure on the status of it but there has been issues where lots have lost connectivity with it, thinking it was a local firewall issue when in fact in was Google. Best way is to telnet to talk.google.com using the likes of Putty and see if you can connect, will help diagnose issues.

I know what you say but PCounter is such a dated product, been there myself with it and bit the bullet to move to PaperCut due to so many issues with a product that has next to no development in the last 10 years. Presume you have EOP with the connect license? If its just your GCP going offline you need to ensure that server can talk to talk.google.com on UDP 5222 I think it is. There has been an GCP issue over the last week or so which I believe is due to be fixed later on this week.

Was just reading another thread and it got me thinking about the NC10 I have sat in the attic, was perfect on XP but no longer any use due to updates, putting Windows 7 on is a bit slow, just thought other than Linux and a Chrome OS any other uses for it? Was tempted to make it into a Chromebook, any recommendations for a distro to do this? Unless there version of Windows 7/10 that would be ok for this.

ManageEngine seems to be a good product from what little I have seen of it, plus lots of extras like self serve password reset, audit tools etc. There will be a bit of configuration required but that will do what you want, know of a few that do that same with any system like this it's only as good as the data and setup you do.

I know a VPN could be used and that would the the ideal solution but I am limited as to what I have and that is just a broadband router with connectivity. It's just your basic router the ISP provides.

If I have a device I want to monitor using SNMP but is on a remote internet connection i.e. sat in a portacabin in the middle of no where with just a router and device would port forwarding SNMP to said device be a no no? I know I could create a rule to only allow from my IP addresses but think I'm going to be stuck with what I have. I can set SNMP to be read only and have a target trap address which if I have read right I would set as our IP address of the monitoring server. Thoughts please.

Why you looking at a mixed fleet? Surely one manufacturer or the other and I certainly wouldn't want a second hand machine in all sounds a bit fishy to me.

I currently wear these. I get them bought for me, go through a pair a year give or take but they do get some hammer. They cost us about £30 from a local tool shop, I find them really comfy with some support, lots of the others tend to go for the shoe version but there not for me. I do have some smart leather shoes from Tesco I wear from time to time but the daily messy work is these, even tend to wear them out of work as they are comfy too.

Welcome to EduGeek. Was a big user of Watchguard products when I was in the NHS in my previous job. Slowly starting to see they pop up more in education and other commercial areas.

What we had has near enough gone and the roads are clear this morning. Pretty tired listening to the wind howling all night though.

I have known people to self install, going through a solutions provider you get the experience and knowledge from them who do it day in day out. PaperCut can be added to any capabale MFD at any point providing you have the relevant license and the machine can support it. PaperCut is the way forward. Recommendation would be get who ever supplies you kit to do the whole hog for you, some manufactures have querks with their machines they can get around but if machines need additional bits they can sort. You can upgrade NG to MF but they are different intaller files. PaperCut is quite user friendly and the KB does hold alot of information. Some machines will install the application on the machine where as others are effectively just loading a web interfance which becomes the user interface for releasing print jobs/authentication/scanning. Licensing is based on number of user and MFD's plus any other modules, release stations, cash payments, site servers (note you get 1 free site server, you can run multiple secondary and web servers regardless) etc that you want to add in. There are a number of different types of embedded licenses you would be licenses for the ones you need, after 3 years you would just renew with the relevant number of licenses you need for said machines thus keeping everything else the same. If you say change from Toshiba to Sharp you you would not get any Toshiba licenses but x number of Sharp/Lexmark/KM ones. Any questions ask and I will try and answer.

I've still got one of the original MS optical mice, the white one with the red light towards you. At the time paid about £20 probably 15+ years ago it even came with a PS2 to USB connector. Still going strong, slightly discoloured but works for me.

FYI PaperCut MF 18.0.4 is now available. I would always recommend running the client locally rather than from a share.

I have never know anyone ditch PaperCut, most I find seem to move to it from other systems such as PCounter, Equitrac or Safecom. What doesn't PaperCut do that you want it to? I find PaperCut does everything and more, there are modules available to expand certain areas, also I find if things are missing I raise it to them and they do get added in in time.
