If I am right in thinking all it is is a webpage served on workspace.yeovil.ac.uk:443 i.e. /rdweb and you login and it launches the remote session from there with no need to mess with the MSTSC port 3389. If if it using MSTSC in my firewall I would always have a deny all then allow 80/443 and I would just create an entry to allow 3389 to workspace.yeovil.ac.uk.

Never heard of MyQ till then, from the Czech Republic by the looks of it and on further digging looks like its part of Kyocera. Is that who you are currently with? I've never seen it advertised as on a compatible list. PaperCut is tried and tested and its vendor natural so what ever you choose to go with you can keep it when your contracts is up and bring your new kit on it. I wouldn't use anything other than PaperCut these days.

This is where VOIP had a few flaws over traditional analogue systems. Years ago you would have multiple handsets plugged in and even call bells but now its one phone tagged for various numbers. Not sure what system you have but could it be an option to use an ATA and have a group ring that rings this with an external bell attached to it and leave the phone where it is?

I gave up with a hacksaw, far too messy but wasn't paying £40+ for one that will get the odd bit of use.

Sharp kit and PaperCut all the way, if you need printers PaperCut can still be used to manage these too.

Bit of a bump, nipped into a local discount shop that sells everything and had an extensive tool section this morning. Looking around I found a cutter, cost me less than a £5 so not expecting miracles or for it to last for ever but does the job and and not broke the bank. Last place I expected to find one and considering I only went in for some tins to put the loose change in I did ok!

Another thing to considering depending how much you would rely on the LA connection would be maybe to degrade their speed offerings therefore dropping the costs, still having the link in place to access their services but say no internet and route all internet traffic out via the new connection if you do need their services. It could work out cheaper but offer both worlds. We used to do that with secure government services have to have 2 connections or more.

Used to be able to do this with NetMeeting in the old XP days if I remember rightly, keeping all traffic locally. I know it doesn't help but there are some similar local IM clients that have this feature, Spark I think was one you could run it on a local server. Been some time since I used it though.

Look at exactly what you are getting from them at the moment and check that your new package will do that or weather you need to buy in any other bits. Without doubt it will be the best move but if you access any of their services i.e. intranet, HR etc that might cause you issues.

If anyone looses theirs in our group they are charged, luckily they only have them as ID and no access but could be added later. The fee goes into the charity pot and they buy cakes for all 20+ of us

You don't have a space at the end of the URL's do you? Is the device listed in PaperCut and showing the IP of the MFD? Have you tried disabling the windows firewall if its on, on the server and seeing if it connects. Do other functions like scan to email or file server work ok on the machine? Might be worth setting the machine to DHCP and seeing it connects also.

Have you copied the links from above, giving it a new name, or even the device a new IP address? Not got a firewall rule only allowing connections from certain places? How many other devices have you got connected? - - - Updated - - - You are setting it under external account settings as by default these machines do not have the AMX3 with them that is needed to allow it to work straight out the box.

Which machine can you not get it to work on? Has it worked before?

You need to train your staff to understand the difference in the two tones. If its so similar then maybe changes need to be made but you cannot rely on them been in front of a computer hence why you have an alarm.

Yeah its the newer ones that have this. Is it working ok now?

Under the URL setting there is a VGA setting and if I remember off the top of my head a .net 2.5 and 3, change it to the opposite that it is on now.

Can your print server ping the IP of the printer, can you access the web page? When you go into devices in PaperCut is it listed there?

I'm sure the testers such as fluke kit give you lengths if you were to do it that way.

If you are sending printed confidential papers in the post then anyone could get their hands on them in theory. Now if you were to send it in electronic form and encrypted/password protected you have take a step to mitigate that risk and then the password should be send by an alternative means. Now if it was the other way around and just sending a password for documents already received that password could relate to 100 things but if you were to put it in such a way that it wasn't a password you have then mitigated a risk there. End of day electronic is more secure, who uses post for such things these days?

I've got a mate who does repairs in his business, a lot of local schools send them to him but its not a quick job to do and its getting decent parts as the quality to repair them with. He does phones too but there is only certain ones he will touch now, but its mainly iPad's he does but its just a case of YouTube and give it ago and have the right tools and patience.

Get a landline, numbers in the memories with say pictures and teach him how to use it. No need to charge it up, worry about loosing it, landline will work even when power is out. I was taught to use the landline at an early age and with something so critical as this you need something reliable and easy to use. You can even get phone you can programme and just pick the handset up and it will dial from Interquartz. Landlines are important phones, maybe even look at something like a care link type system so if your wife takes ill and she's on her own she can press a button.
