  1. Friend has been back in touch with me regarding this, one thing that has raised concerns for me is that names and pictures are been sent to their customers. Where does this come under the GDPR? The original request was to do with DBS and overseas working.
  2. You still have to modify your DNS if you use different VLAN's for this to work. Although all you do it enter your IP's and then run a few commands on your DNS server its not just straight out the box.
  3. To setup Outlook just create an IMAP connection when setting up the account. I did manage to set mailto: to open with web based Lotus Notes by editing the default programs but it was that long ago now.
  4. In a normal exchange environment you would add the second account in the permissions and then change to read only. Used to right click on the mailbox and do it there.
  5. Before I left the NHS a few years ago I spoke to Borri at Sheffield and spec'd up a nice little generator and UPS solution just to power our small data centre following some power issues over a Christmas period. It wasn't a major data centre as we had another that was on a hospital site connected to generators. Anyway I left and later found what I had spec'd was installed but had enough juice to power the building for some 3 days (fairly sizeable office building) and some more. What what is could do I think it came in around 50k with the UPS room, works and cabling which I didn't think was too bad. Never did get to see it in operation but can recommend Borri, obviously can get a smaller solution for cheaper and it was maybe 7 or 8 years ago but certainly worth looking at.
  6. Have you tried downloading the local app version that runs as a local client on the PC?
  7. I currently live in a largeish town, I use Virgin purely due to speed as the ADSL on a BT line would only get me a few meg due to distance from the exchange and they have decided not to put FTTC in yet due to the presence for Virgin. We do have a WISP around here but costs v speed are not worth it for me at the moment. Can get better BT connection out in some of the smaller remote villages to here!! I don't use a landline although I do subscribe to Vonage and have a line with them and can do with out it, just easier when working remotely to use that and a headset. I would consider 5G, speed is the biggest thing for me, don't think I eat much data these days but upload is the key due to some of the photo work I do. If and when FTTC becomes available I would look to move unless Virgin can do something for me except put the price up. As long as I get good reliable net and can access my devices externally then I'd be up for it. I am a big user of 4G when mobile and most of the time I get a good connection so not much different really.
  8. Depending on the current system you are using there may not need to be any massive changes i.e. changing to VoIP you maybe able to keep what you currently have. Do you have a network link between each site? I have seen it done before with phone systems where they break out via your LAN and you can link each system together, to dial another school you use a short code i.e. 74 then dial the extension of the school you are calling or 74 0 would call the switchboard. The ideal world would be to look at a VoIP system but that is cost that may need to be factored in a long term plan. Doing what I suggested if your systems allow it will just extend your current system but link it over your LAN/WAN/VPN setup. Not saying all phone systems support it but might be worth a look in the short term.
  9. Have you tried adding another copy of the queue on? Might even be worth checking out the PaperCut universal driver and see what that charges jobs at. Obviously it won't have all the advanced features but worth a look at.
  10. There is no known issues for the Canon's listed, 18.3.1 is now available. Does it happen on each Canon queue or just the odd one? What happens if you print direct to one of the queues does it record the job properly that way?
  11. Have you got advanced features turned off on both your followme and your output queues?
  12. On your printer in PaperCut what have you got the colour detection mode set to? 1. This is a grayscale printer (disable color detection and charge all jobs as grayscale) 2. This is a color printer (use standard detection) 3. This is a color printer (use page-level detection) It wants to be set to page level detection if it isn't.
  13. Student uploads to their own one drive then emails share link to staff member who can access it, nothing attached but can view.
  14. Thanks for that.
  15. I cannot fault them, far batter than 1&1 and does everything I need. Quick and simple to register and had everything sorted in less than 30 minutes if I remember rightly.
  16. Sorry I knew that didn't look right when I typed it. I am after Home and Business 2016. Sorry.
  17. Nearly died there reading that. I have some 8000 images on my FlickR and use it quite a bit, luckily I am a paid up member, didn't fancy transferring everything else where.
  18. I had issues transferring my .co.uk out from 1and1, managed to get logged onto the Nominet portal as myself and update my tags in there. Made it easy to transfer to 123 reg then.
  19. Hi All, Has anyone got an installer file for Home Office 2016 please? I have my license key but unable to retrieve the file online for some reason. Thanks
  20. Do you have advanced printing features turned off on all your queues?
  21. Is the account a member of Administrators (BULLETIN) as well as Domain Admins?
  22. Received this morning, thanks.
  23. Merge it into one, just more admin and hassle. Things have developed since the days of Windows 95/98.
  24. Don't even go there, that is another conversation for another day!
