We've downloaded the Office 2016 ISO, unzipped and put on the network. When we test installing on our Windows 7 PC's it pops up with this error: Problem signature: Problem Event Name: BEX Application Name: MsiExec.exe Application Version: 5.0.7601.23593 Application Timestamp: 582346da Fault Module Name: MSID324.tmp Fault Module Version: 14.0.7006.1000 Fault Module Timestamp: 50abc68d Exception Offset: 00008848 Exception Code: c0000417 Exception Data: 00000000 OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.48 Locale ID: 2057 Additional Information 1: 013b Additional Information 2: 013b5c7f0d47b6b5f38f4bfdcf58c168 Additional Information 3: 7cc0 Additional Information 4: 7cc049e69814f879a62d50667fe0b909 Read our privacy statement online: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=104288&clcid=0x0409 If the online privacy statement is not available, please read our privacy statement offline: C:\Windows\system32\en-US\erofflps.txt If we click "CLOSE" - then the PC's appear to upgrade office to 2016 successfully... Should I be worried or does anyone know what the cause of this crash might be?

In planning a migration from Office 2010 to Office 2016 did anyone take the opportunity to advise staff that DOC, PPT, XLS files would no longer be compatible and ask them to update or delete?

Hi All, I have a MS Access Database with all my assets in it. I also have a limited knowledge of MS Access! At the moment when we give a member of staff a laptop, that's it, we just give it to them. I'd like staff to sign something saying they acknowledge they have it and they'll treat it nicely. I'd like either Access to generate a form with the data of their assigned laptop, or Word to pull the info out of Access and populate a form. I don't want to run them all off, just the one about the asset I am about to issue. Which way do I go about it please? Googling just seems to generate masses of results of how to run a report showing loads of data, I just want the one record. Stuart

Hi All, Currently facing some difficulty setting up a delegated account onto another Outlook users account. I am able to do the following: > Add Account Manually via. File > Add Account > I'm then prompted to enter ID/Password, and through the menus click 'Finish' > Once done, I can then see the account on the list of inboxes assigned to my account This has worked on one machine, however others have failed, with the below issue. Whenever I click on the account to expand the folders, I receive one of two errors: Note: Having followed that file path, it appears that the .ost file is 0kb in size, which I do not understand. OR: I've tried deleting the account and readding, deleting the .ost etc. but nothing works. Has anyone else had a similar issue? If so, how did you resolve this? Thanks, F_admin

A really strange one, one of our field staff have an issue when trying to log into activate it, it comes up "sorry we are having some temporary server issues" This isn't one of our corperate licensed version, but a home license, and the laptop isn't a corperate one, but a home managed one, but trying to help out the user. So far, I have tried - Turn off AV (Mcafee vile thing), remove Trusteer Rapport (equally vile), remove completely and re-install office, tried in safe mode, but all to no avail. Kinda running out of ideas really. Anyone got any other suggestions? or even better know the solution.

Here's a curious one. I have been given an "important document" that belongs to a member of SLT. It hasn't been opened since 2013 and Windows is reporting it's in Word 97-2003 format. When I open it in Word 2016 it appears as squares with no option to convert the document. If I save it as TXT I get nothing but 400kb of blank space. If I try Recover Text From any File I get nothing at all. I also tried opening it in Office 365 through myUSO and it just says it cannot open the file. Any ideas please? I'm starting to think the file is just corrupt and unopenable.

Hi I've had a quick look - but can you force the Ribbon Toolbar in Office 2016 so it shows Tabs and Commands as default...is there a group policy that can be set? thanks J.

So, i think i've found our bandwidth hog and it's pointing to Office, infact, its pointing to https://omextemplates.content.office.net/. After blocking this URL via the smoothwall in HTTP and HTTPS, our traffic is very very low indeed. https://omextemplates.content.office.net/ is the templates that appear in office and it would indicate that when a user logs in and opens Word, Excel or powerpoint, they pull down all the templates. I've got this URL restricted to 32kbyte/s which equals 0.25mbps shared between clients. Is there a way to download these templates and use them as part of the image so we can completely disable this URL from in side the network?

Morning, We've just migrated our exchange to o365 (RM Unify Federated) - Just had some issues setting up Outlook 2016 client. Had to manually remove the old Profile and recreate it which then now links to the 0365 one via autodiscovery. However, these settings don't seem to be roaming to the next classroom very reliably. Is there a roaming folder I need to add/remove from GPO that may be causing a setting not roaming or should I have the OST file create in homedrives rather than locally on the PC (This isn't roaming, 1gig ost file - so this may be the issue but nor do I want it to roam!) Or should I disable cached mailboxes entirely? Just wondering if there's any tips or best practices I could steal? Cheers

Good Afternoon, Will a business premium O365 licence enable this feature? or will i need to purchase an enterprise licence CAL? Cannot seem to find the information required on any MS pages...

Had a few complaints recently about emails being forwarded to people but they have no way of knowing the address from which the email came as it has been converted to a display name, is there anyway to stop this behaviour? I can't seem to find the relevant terminology to get a relevant search result:

We have gone over to office 2016 now in our school and started to have issues with PowerPoint printing really slow (1 page per 5 minutes) but prints fine from Word. It's a HP LaserJet Pro 300 conected via USB on 2 different machines but it's really slow from PowerPoint?? Thanks

I have a number of spreadsheet models with existing formulae and formatting already in place. I have some idea of how to get data from a database like Access into Excel but struggle to slot the data in with already existing formulae next to it that I can use for analysis. For example: IMPORTED STUDENTS | IMPORTED GRADES | EXISTING FORMULA | EXISTING SUMMARIES BASED ON FORMULA CALCULATIONS Anyone have any tips?

Hi, we have recently upgraded from Office 2010 to 2016 in our school and have just come across a problem, if the staff open a Word document previously done in 2010 on the 2016 the text is missing, for example open a document on 2010 all is fine, open it in 2016 the boxes and columns are there but no text!! weird, would appreciate any help , thanks

I'm trying to download the International version of Office 2016 pro plus but the only one on the volume licensing site currently seems to be the US version?

Hi Long shot but does anyone have a registered copy of the above I could borrow? I have a legit copy of the purchased v5 but I'm guessing the company has folded as the website no longer exists and I need the http functionality that was introduced in v6.5 for a little project/testing Thanks as always Andrew

Morning all. I'll try and summarise this issue as best as I can - User wants an add-in to be available (Refworks, in this instance) be publicly available for students to install when using Word on our managed estate. We have a managed install (MSI, for what its worth) of Office 2016 ProPlus installed on our managed PCs/laptops. Not M365 Apps for Enterprise. - Access to the Office Store is blocked via the Admin Center (NOT the Microsoft Store). - When a user is on one of our managed devices, the store appears to be available. However, when they install an add-in and try to run it, they get an error saying it's unable to connect to the catalogue. As far as I am aware, this is due to the Office Store being blocked, as per above, because when I temporarily unblocked it, I could install anything I pleased and it ran without issue. - When a user is on their own personal device using a Microsoft 365 Apps for Enterprise install of word and try accessing the Store, they get an message saying the store is blocked. This is fine. - We are aware that we can deploy specific add-ins to users via O365, but the problem with this is that it's only available to them when using M365 Apps for Enterprise; it doesn't carry over to Office 2016 ProPlus We have been back and forth with Microsoft about this on how we can deploy add-ins for a managed environment, and their solutions were the following - Install M365 Apps for Enterprise on our estate and manage everything through Centralized Deployment - Not going to happen when we have volume licensed installs of Office. It's not something I'm responsible either. - Allow users complete access to the Office Store - Obtain the manifest.xml file and offline installation package, and install via other means. I assume they are referring to something like SCCM, and something our Windows team would have to do. It's unlikely as it seems rather time consuming Is anyone else aware of any other better way to do this? Or how do you go about it? I'm at a loss as to how inflexible this whole thing is, and we've been banging our head against a brick wall with MS for months about it. Cheers

Hi All, Please anyone having issues with onenote syncing on Teams? We use Teams as our distance learning platform this strange times and Teachers are complaining about the syncing. I have tried re-installation of office 2016 and after a day or two the issue re-occurs. It is abit sporadic Thanks

Hi All, One of my users has borrowed a school laptop so they can work from home during this crisis. They are able to sign into their account/profile as they logged into it before taking off site. When they open a new Word document or try to save a document they get a "Network Error, Windows cannot access \\servername\Staff Desktop.", they hit save and nothing happens. I did have Microsoft take a look at it, all they did was make me uninstall and reinstall it, tried resetting the licence and logging in with a different Office 365 account. The office application works fine again when the laptop is brought back on site. Kind regards, S

Hi all, Since moving to Office 2016, a handful of our teachers have been getting lots of XSL Stylesheet files with coded names appearing in whichever folder their Word document is in. They seem to be deletable without consequence but reappear soon after opening the Word document. I've done a bit of investigation and it seems like these are temporary files that for some reason aren't able to be created in their usual location (presumably on the C drive), and are instead defaulting to the folder containing the Word document the teacher is using. From what I've seen, all affected people are able to see and access the C drive of their school-allocated laptops (something that we used to make invisible), so I'm not sure why Office isn't writing to it. Of course I might be wrong with this theory, but any other ideas would be very welcome!

Hi, We have Windows 10 1809 LTSC and Office 2016. We are trying to apply the restricted browsing and place list policies. When I run RSOP on a target machine the policies are there and don't show any errors however when I check in Office it appears nothing has been configured. I have attached a screenshot showing the policy we have configured. Does anybody have any advice? Thanks

I have a brand new out of the box laptop, that came with Windows 10 home and office apps on it. I've removed the office apps, and upgraded it to Windows 10 Education but I can't install Office 2016. I am getting Error 1935. Any suggestions?

I have 'Microsoft Office LTSC Professional Plus' installed on my work PC and use Outlook to connect to 4 email accounts. 3 of these are 'itsLearning' accounts and one is an 'LGfL' account. I'm not sure what back-end these providers use O365/Exchange online or if indeed it is all the same thing nowadays... I never use saved credentials and so I'm asked to sign in to all the accounts, but only the LGfL one asks me everytime, the itsLearning accounts seem OK for a while and then will randomly ask.... Anyway, the 'itsLearning' accounts come up through Outlook with their own mini browser window (the 'itsLearning' front-end) which is ridiculous as I can't tell which of the 3 accounts it is asking me to sign in to (no saved credentials/username). The main issue is (on the rare occasion I need to re-sign in to the itsLearning email accounts), after signing in to the accounts through Outlook, whenever I open another Office application (Excel/Word/Powerpoint) I have automatically been signed in to these too...

Imagine you have a list of dates and you enter readings and figure is generated based on the previous figure. You then have another sheet with a date from and date to (might need to change this and use based on rows) then 2 figures can you enter the date on the first sheet then look up the second and if its in between them dates use the figure there to do a calculation? Question is what formula would I need as the one I have used in the past for something slightly similar doesn't work in the way I want.

Any Outlook gurus out there...? Long story short, I have a 'personal' LGfL email account ([email protected] - which is a bit of a mouthful) to which I added a shorter alias ([email protected] - we own domain.org.uk) through the LGfL admin settings on their support site. This alias now seems to be detected a spam (a couple of suppliers and support companies haven't received recent emails and found them in the spam folder). Unfortunately a long time ago (I can't remember exactly), when I set up Outlook on my PC I think I chose the 'alias' as the account name and it sends mail as this (but obviously all mail goes through the LGfL account). So, two questions really as I'm not an Outlook expert: 1. Is there anyway to stop my 'alias' being classified as spam by external mail servers..? or 2. Can I somehow change the way Outlook has set-up the account with the alias to actually use the LGfL mail account without deleting the account and mail..? or 3. If I just delete the account in Outlook, am I right in thinking that if I add in the LGfL account and also get it to open the 'alias' account mailbox I will still receive all the mail for both, but not be able to send as the 'alias'. I'm a bit confused because Outlook seems to know it is just an alias, looking at the .OST it is actually named with the LGfL account (so I can't add the LGfL account in seperately because it already exists).
