Thought I'd share this article I was sent the other day, apparently works quite well, not had the need to implement myself but thought I'd share for those not aware. Works with Server 2008 R2 onwards.

I presume your virtual queues are set to be release jobs on these machines? Have you open the output queue and monitor the job as it passes through?

There are some reasonably priced colour lasers on eBuyer at the moment. I didn't do much at home so upgraded, had my colour laser 8 years paid about £300 for it, only just replaced some of the cartridges in it but don't have to worry about them drying up. I've got an OKI C510 bought via a firm on here at the time, might be worth looking for any second hand printers if you don't need much. Still can't bare to part with my HP BI 1100 was a good printer just didn't get the use.

Thing with the electronic systems you only have to press sign out to select your name and it gives you a list of everyone signed in so there are ways around it as a visitor if you really wanted to look at the list.

I moved from Virgin to Sky recently and was chatting to the installer and he said their work was already changing with the new Q box as you only need to run to the dish from that box and he said they were running more ethernet around to support the other boxes with wireless poor in lots of properties.

Same as Chuckster but you need to ensure DNS is on both! Plus I have known it just to have its own server in DNS and not a secondary.

I cannot find anything to say the printer is AirPrint certified. Does it even support AirPrint, devices have to be certified from Apple, if you go to the web interface is there any option to enable or disable AirPrint?

Don't know weather this is a tip or not but found this out today on Outlook 2016 + 2010 using Exchange 2010 and Office 365. Open a blank email and select recipient, Type the message Please find attached... but don't attach anything. You get a cool little pop up attachment reminder, you may have forgotten to attach a file, don't send or send anyway. First time I've come across it, thought it was kind of cool!

Receive cheques at Christmas without fail, have written about 16 in last 11 years, mainly subs which have only just moved to bank transfer. Received probably 50 in that time for various things.

They say use third party software, is there any out there that does it?

I know 10 years ago back to Exchange 2003 days we had a domain trust and we ended up importing contacts into a separate OU so we could populate our GAL with the other domains users. There was a connector in Exchange to link for sending and receiving of mail but the GAL didn't see possible.

Bit of a heads up for those that use a Premier Inn. 1 am this morning I receive an email thanking me for purchasing 24 hours of WiFi via Virgin WiFi at Premier Inn. Naturally I think its spam and start checking the email for legit-ness to find it its all kosher. Rings the number on the email (after checking it out) to find out what is going on, I'm at home, not in a Premier Inn, little bit worried, gives the woman my email address and she asks if I've sold any devices/had anything stolen recently. Tracks my email down to a place in the Midlands that is when it all clicks in, sold a device quite a while ago. What it would appear is that is caches the email address you use and if someone else buys WiFi and pays for it you still get an email, you have to phone up and get the device manually swapped to the other persons address, they cannot just delete it. Not a bit of a flaw in the system I'd say but wanted to give you a heads up on here. Most of the time I use my MiFi but I had used that previous device when 4G wasn't too good.

You got any guides to configuring squid guard and light squid?

Surely everything should be scanned and uploaded to SIMS? A proper workflow, you can even get scan to SIMS on MFD's so you can straight to SIMS once you create a ticket.

Do your users have laptops they take home or you reliant on them using their own devices?

Create a VPN back and give them access to the domain from where they are, everything gets backed up centrally then.

I would tag and record everything except keyboard, mice, speakers them kinds of things. PC base unit, monitors, printers, scanners, cameras, VoIP phones, docking stations, any network and server kit, projectors, any fancy switching kit/media for projectors/boards, boards. Purchase date, warranty terms, costs you bought, where from, even if its internal to IT it helps track things back, especially warranty etc.

If the domain is ok how you want it, i.e. all policies setup, structure then it might pay to fix some of the issues, unless you really want a few domain?

I receive a Exchange based newsletter every so often, most of it is no use but from time to time interesting things are posted, I will copy below the article as I think it might be of interest to some if not already aware.

Thanks for the input all. Some options to explore, its one of those things on my list, I am slowly doing jobs around the house and ticking them off one by one.
