Hello, I was just wondering if anyone has had any joy configuring the BTLS Netsweeper Authentication Portal. I've followed their guidance and got very close to what I'm after... We are redirected to the login page and when we use our AD creds it allows us to look at the page requested, if we don't use AD creds or use erroneous creds then we are blocked from accessing the page. However, we are asked to re-enter AD creds every time we change url, I would prefer to allow the user an hour of browsing before they need to re-enter creds, has anyone else had this and was it resolved? Hello, I'm having a few people struggling to get a VPN connection to our 2012 R2 server. We have a static pool of 13 addresses but they don't all get used even though there is demand from remote users ie the connection attempt is rejected even when there is enough IP addresses in the static pool. In this screen shot I'm confused as to what the 192.168.8.192 IP Address is? When the static range was entered it just appeared. Do you need enough free IP address for the range you enter plus the generated IP Address? Many thanks

Hi, asked about a /23 and got this response:- "That’s the whole idea of the vlans, it cuts down on the broadcast traffic and the 2 vlans don’t run consecutively so it can’t be made into a /23 subnet, the only way around this is to vlan the switch ports correctly."

From my original (poor) example:- 456.456.456.x 255.255.255.0 The gateway is the gateway on the original scope, which I thought was odd. So from my original example 123.123.123.254 - - - Updated - - - Cisco can't remember the which models but I'll find out tomorrow. - - - Updated - - - It was an additional scope. I then created a superscope with the old and new scope.

Hi, our school has run-out of IP address ( 123.123.123.x/24 ) so the LA gave us a new scope (456.456.456.x/24). I added this new scope to our Win2008R2 DHCP server but the new scope didn't issue any IPs, I went back to the LA and got this reply:- The switch ports need to be configured into the correct vlan on the switches. I'll need the switch port numbers and the addresses/name of the switches they are connected to and I could do it for you. I don't remember this being necessary in the past (at other schools), so I asked another engineer at the LA and he said both scopes (new & old) needed to be in a super scope, I configured the super-scope and both scopes issued IPs, however the computers receiving IPs from the new scope were unable to see the server shares and connect to the internet. Does anyone know where I'm going wrong? Is the first LA engineer correct and he needs switch info? Thanks TraineeGeek

I looked in the Event Viewer on our 3 domain controllers and there were lots of errors reported by the win2003 server, replication errors. Hello Everyone, I have done some research before posting and I'll be spending the evening reading the RAID manual. In the meantime... Today one of the HDDs in our IBM Lenovo ThinkServer (TD200x -[382241G]- 06) reported faulty .The RAID hardware is a IBM ServeRAID-MR10i . On the desktop we got this message:- Controller ID: 0 SAS topology error: Device not addressable. I open the MegaRAID software and one of the disks is reported as:- (Foreign) Unconfigured, Bad Also today we've had other servers and workstations losing their trust with the domain and sometime taking a few attempts to get them back on the domain. Is it just a case of replacing the HDD? If so any tips? Is the faulty RAID causing the AD problems? Will AD be corrupt? Hi, Since August 2013 we have been 1 school (1 school number) with 2 sites (4 miles apart) but because the results of one of the sites was adversely affecting the other, the schools are splitting and we've been given a DFE number for the newer site. We are now wondering what to do about SIMs:- 1) Can we run two school from one SIMs? 2) If not, how do we create another instance of SIMs? 3) How do we transfer existing BGA pupils to the new SIMs? At the newer school we have a DELL/VMWare virtual environment with our current SIMs server virtualized and more than enough resources for a second MS SQL server. A 100Mb/s P2P will remain between the 2 schools. Has anyone been through this kind of restructuring? Many thanks

Hello Everyone, I’d like to get staff & pupils on different IP ranges because using devolved web filtering I can set different levels of filtering for different IP ranges. We already have 3 VLANs setup on our CISCO POP3 (Catalyst 3550) switch, done by the LA. Our admin machines (3) use the admin VLAN (10.121.77.0/24) and their workstations have a static IP config. Both staff and pupils are on 10.74.68.0 -10.74.69.255), I’d like to have our pupils on the 10.74.68.0/23 range and the teaching staff on the 10.74.30.0/24 range but I’m unsure of the following:- 1) Create VLANS 2) Do we have the correct hardware 3) How to issue DHCP to each VLAN (I Am able to give each WLAN a VLAN number though)? 4) If the teaching staff are on 10.74.30.0/24 how will they be routed through to 10.74.68.0/23? 5) Our AppleTV devices will probably be on 10.74.30.0/24 how will pupil ipads connect to them via AirPlay? A basic diagram.

Hi,During February half-term 2014 we changed the MX records associated with xxxxxxxxx.xxxxx.sch.uk to be those of gmail in order to bring the domain fully under the control of our Gapps primary domain. Our Bursar has continued to keep an eye on the LA exchange mailbox and noticed an email that didn't go into our gmail mailbox but went to the LA exchange mailbox. Could anyone shed any light on why this might have happened? Is it a case of studying the message headers?

We're kitting out the teaching wall in 2 classrooms at a new school - so a blank canvas. We've seen a school that uses interactive projectors and smart paint and it looked good and more importantly the teachers loved it. Our current system of Smartboards 800 has intermittent problems with interactivity and 3rd party apps. We'd like hear about experiences creating a teaching wall that worked well for both staff and pupil?
