Hi, I have been trying to figure out how to create a Batch file to automatically detach, delete and reattach a fresh sql2012 database. We use the databases for training and after each use we re-attach the fresh database. it is a tedious process as this needs to be done almost every day. I decided to try and automate this process, so far i have been able to detach, delete and attach a new database successfully but it drops the usernames and passwords and i do not understand why. "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.SIMS2012\MSSQL\Binn\Dbattach.exe" /SERVER=".\sims2012" /DATABASE="Engwe0" /USER="SA" /PASSWORD="Password1" /AUTODETACHMODE /AUTO pause call "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.SIMS2012\MSSQL\DATA\delete.bat" pause "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.SIMS2012\MSSQL\Binn\Dbattach.exe" /SERVER=".\sims2012" /USER="SA" /Password="Password1" /DATABASE="ENGwe0" /SOURCEDB="D:\Keystone\november15traindata_sims7.166_engwe_sql/ENGwe0.mdf" /AUTOATTACHMODE /AUTO pause this is the first time i have attempted a script and also the first time I've posted here, i would greatly appreciate any thoughts you may have Thanks In Advance!

Hi all, We purchased a SQL 2014 license however we are no longer upgrading to SQL 2014 but going to SQL 2012 instead. Is it possible for us to downgrade our existing license?

Has anyone successfully managed to do a command line silent install of SQL 2012 Express? Preferably with SSMS etc.. Looking at firing this out to all schools in the county and not getting very far. Currently using either the SQLEXPRADV_x86_ENU.exe or SQLEXPRADV_x64_ENU.exe and although the wizard mode seems to take less steps than 2008R2 did, the silent command line method is alluding me. I've look at the info given on MSDN Install SQL Server 2012 from the Command Prompt and tried the example with no joy and played around with some variations without success. So, anyone else had any luck? Any ideas more than welcome. oh yeah, I need it to have SSMS that's why I'm using the ADV version

Hi, Since August 2013 we have been 1 school (1 school number) with 2 sites (4 miles apart) but because the results of one of the sites was adversely affecting the other, the schools are splitting and we've been given a DFE number for the newer site. We are now wondering what to do about SIMs:- 1) Can we run two school from one SIMs? 2) If not, how do we create another instance of SIMs? 3) How do we transfer existing BGA pupils to the new SIMs? At the newer school we have a DELL/VMWare virtual environment with our current SIMs server virtualized and more than enough resources for a second MS SQL server. A 100Mb/s P2P will remain between the 2 schools. Has anyone been through this kind of restructuring? Many thanks

Hi guys current setup server 2012r2, SQL 2012 and DPM 2012r2 Trying to upgrade to DPM 2016 and getting the following error You cannot upgrade the existing installation because the DPM database version does not match with installed DPM version. Ensure correct SQL data files are copied from an existing DPM SQL instance and attached to the given SQL instance, then run the program again In the past ive had to restore the database from our secondary DPM server so im guessing that has something to do with it maybe? ive no idea what SQL data files its on about either Any help would be greatly appreciated! and if you need any further info let me know! regards -vicky Tofield IT Tech at Sir Christopher Hatton

Hi We have installed SQL 2012 on a SIMS server. I have checked all settings in SQL Studio Management Studio and this all points to the new SQL 2012 path ie D:\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.SIMS2012\MSSQL\Backup but in System Manager 6 it still shows the old SQL 2008 backup path ie D:\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10.SIMS\MSSQL\Backup\. Any ideas gratefully received.

Hi Guys having a fun time trying to upgrade DPM from 2012r2 to 2016. First attempt failed so i restored the database from our secondary DPM server and ran DPMsync. All back to normal for round two. Now when i try to run the upgrade again im getting the following error Ive got no clue where to even start with this and its driving me crazy. Has anyone managed to successfully upgrade from DPM 2012r2 to 2016? help! Vicky Tofield IT Technician Sir Christopher Hatton Academy

I'm trying to set up a test Operations Manager server and I'm struggling to connect to the local SQL instance using a domain admin account. The domain admins group was given permissions during the SQL install. I also can't connect through SSMS on the server using Windows authentication. The thing that has thrown me is that I can connect through SSMS from a workstation using the same domain credentials, it works perfectly. I can also connect to the instance with SA but I can't specify that in the OpsMan installation. How is it that I connect remotely but not locally?

Hi, our Sims server has been working great for the past year and as quick as we could hope for but the past 2 weeks we have been suffering random slow downs where the Sims server gets bogged down completely. If you give it 5 minutes it gets going again and all seems normal, I can see in activity monitor that tasks are queued up hence the bogging down but i'm struggling to find exactly what is causing the slow downs, any advice? The trouble is not only do we have Sims, we have Insight, Pars and Datasec which all pull data off the Sims server so I wouldn't be surprised if it's one of these that's killing the server, any help greatly appreciated! Thanks, Simon

Setup: Server 2012 Data Center 64bit SQL 2012 SP1 SCCM 2012 SP1 We have the SCCM SP1 and SQL 2012 SP1 installed on Server 2012 Datacenter. Everything is setup and "talking". However when we try to setup a Software Update Server (on the same box) WSUS will not work. It does not download any updates and is talking to the SQL 2012 database. The WSUS Role was installed after SQL and before SCCM. So it should all be talking properly but it is not. We are currently at a dead end on figuring out what to do next and looking for any tips or suggestions. Thanks.
