Hi, I have been trying to figure out how to create a Batch file to automatically detach, delete and reattach a fresh sql2012 database. We use the databases for training and after each use we re-attach the fresh database. it is a tedious process as this needs to be done almost every day. I decided to try and automate this process, so far i have been able to detach, delete and attach a new database successfully but it drops the usernames and passwords and i do not understand why. "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.SIMS2012\MSSQL\Binn\Dbattach.exe" /SERVER=".\sims2012" /DATABASE="Engwe0" /USER="SA" /PASSWORD="Password1" /AUTODETACHMODE /AUTO pause call "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.SIMS2012\MSSQL\DATA\delete.bat" pause "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.SIMS2012\MSSQL\Binn\Dbattach.exe" /SERVER=".\sims2012" /USER="SA" /Password="Password1" /DATABASE="ENGwe0" /SOURCEDB="D:\Keystone\november15traindata_sims7.166_engwe_sql/ENGwe0.mdf" /AUTOATTACHMODE /AUTO pause this is the first time i have attempted a script and also the first time I've posted here, i would greatly appreciate any thoughts you may have Thanks In Advance!

Hello, Can anyone offer advice on the following please ? I am looking to run a batch file to install software at logon using GPO. I do not wish to use msi, wrapper or zap files; the program to be installed is huge 15 gb and contains multiple msi's. The batch file should run the following - Img\Setup.exe /W /q /I Img\ECS 2015.ini /language en-us I understand I can have a batch file containing "%~dp0Img\Setup.exe /W /q /I Img\ECS 2015.ini /language en-us" Is this written correctly ? I am also looking to run this batch file just once; can I incorporate within the batch file commands to check that the program has installed and prevent the installer from running again ? Thanks...

A while back teachers informed me that the new version 33 of Chrome browser has broken SMART INK. They are correct. SMART Ink is no longer over Chrome. I called SMART about this today. They sent me a link that will put SMART Ink back on Chrome http://downloads01.smarttech.com/software/ink/2_0_723/smartink.exe. This link is not searchable on their website. It does work if an administrator runs the executable. They were not able to provide any information as to deploy it to all my machines. Can anyone come up with a batch script That I could add to a group policy as a startup script? If you could find out any switches I could use to deploy this via a batch file silent install I would appreciate it. I've tried /s /silent /qn etc...none work. Scripting is not my strong suit. We are using Windows 7 machines and the latest version of SMART Notebook™ collaborative learning software (11.4.564.0) with SMART Ink (2.0).

I've looked for a way to lock my computer, although I don't want any password for my user Shutting down the task explorer.exe does give me the effect I want because the computer is kinda hard to use. So I've created a batch file with "taskkill /f /im explorer.exe", and here comes the tricky part, you can't create a keyboard shortcut to a batch file. So I've created a shortcut to the batch file and added a keyboard shortcut to the shortcut, still with me? Pressing my custom keyboard shortcut "ctrl+Alt+L" worked one time and then it didn't work :| As it turns out you can only create keyboard shortcuts for .exe files. Somebody got an Idea how to solve the problem (in short terms shutting down the explorer.exe task with a keyboard shortcut without needing to download a program)? I do got codeblocks so writing a short c++ program might work? Althought don't know how.. Help appreciated

Hey guys, I have been trying to create a silent install of SolidWorks for MDT. However, whenever I go to carry out the silent install, the Solidworks program looks to have been installed, and then all of a sudden the installer starts going backwards and uninstalls the program completely. Within my silent install i was also installing eDrawings which worked perfectly, so I don't really understand why it's not working? I checked the log i also created and it says nothing about why it starts to remove the files, it just starts doing it Do any of you have any ideas about how i could sort this Thanks!! Any guidance would be appreciated

Hi All, I'm currently looking to create a batch file that will roll the system back to a chosen point, and will delete any changes a user had made (creating folder and files mostly). I have seen something like this before in hire laptops that resets them after the lease period, but i cant seem to find anything! I have thought about just deleting the user account. bus some of the software we run licensed per user.. as you can imagine this causes a few problems! note: the current operating system is Windows 7 Enterprise. The Laptops are not joined to the schools network and are stand alone. so have local user accounts etc. Thanks!

With the demise of the RM forums (at least I assume so - it stopped working for me a long time ago), I've lost contact with everyone who had a copy of my script to flush the contents of the Start Menu cache folders on CC4. Can anyone who sees this and wants the latest version please get in touch with me. This version (now v2.2) is a significant improvement to the version that people have had already. For clarification, this script is for those occasions where shortcuts are corrupted in the Start Menu cache folders, which results in the shortcuts not being delivered to users' profiles. To the best of my knowledge, nobody has managed to get RM to accept that there is a problem that needs fixing here, so I created the script to provide a workaround which helps to avoid otherwise unnecessary rebuilds. I share this with others for free, but I do like to have an idea of how many people out there have it and a way of contacting them in case I update it, which is why I haven't put a direct download link here.

Hi there, I have a batch file that I want to run as post-imaging task (with our Kace K2000 imaging system) that copies a file from a network share into a folder in C:\Program Files. However, on Windows 7 I get an error when this is run unless I right click and choose "Run as administrator." Obviously I can't right click to do this if the script is running automatically in the Kace imaging environment. In the script, is there a way I can specify "Run as administrator" as a command? Thanks!

Hi, i want 2 execute .exe file on client m/c from my server shared folder. The 1 line script is: \\192.168.137.10\Scripts\Setup.exe I tried execute it through startup script, but in event log it shows Time out, after client m/c takes 10 min. of time. When i tried running it manually on client machine, it shows UNC path not supported .Then I tried disabling UNC check , by adding disableUNCcheck in registry. When UNC check disabled, it now shows error "Access denied". (I piped output to a text file, these errors r logged into this text file.) What will b the possible solution to resolve this concern. Need help

Need some help writing a script to copy a folder (with sub contents) to multiple remote machines. i have done it for files but how do you to it for folders help!! @Rem simple copy script for Windows Command Interpreter (cmd.exe) @echo Read in each hostname entry in the file hostnames.txt amd copy the local file to the c$ of each hostname FOR /F %%i in (hostnames.txt) do copy name.bmp \\%%i\"c$\Program Files\"

I have a problem. I have wrote a script that gets an IP address from Nslookup and passes it to DelProf2.exe. However, I obviously need some error handling in the script so I can influence the flow of the batch file as it is run (if something goes wrong GOTO function name). I'd like to control the flow upon Nslookup succeeding or failing. How do I access the exit status and assign it to a variable? Thanks in advance. This is my first post. This has been doing my head in! Note: I will post up finished bat file upon completion so you can all benefit if needed.

I am looking for any assistance possible. This is what I am trying to accomplish. I would like to have Internet Explorer (IE9) add a footer to any printouts that includes the hostname of the computer, and I would like this change to be made in the registry with a batch file. I have researched and found that the computer name/hostname could be manually entered in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\PageSetup footer string, and that the computer name/hostname can be found HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\ComputerName\ComputerName. The ideal scenario would be for the batch file to copy the ComputerName string over to the PageSetup footer string, and the batch could be executed via SCCM. Would anyone have any recommendations on how I could implement this? Thanks!

Hello Guys, I am really hoping someone can help me or advise me. We have a CC4 network, and we have moved from RM Virus Protect (Symantec), to Trend Micro Worry-Free Business Security On Prem recommended from RM. The initial upgrade in terms of removing RM Virus Protect and installing the Trend Micro manager was absolutely fine, the problem I have is the clients. The first package we did, had the wrong OS constrains on so the package ended up hanging on most machines. My colleague accidentally rolled this to Main Site, hence the situation we are in. Anyways, I recreated the package and tested it on a few new machines, which works fine. I then rolled this out to the site, and its half installed Trend Micro, as in the Security Agent but I believe this is because of the first package that has messed up the machines. I don't have the time to rebuild the full site, so I was hoping for some kind of cleanup batch file that was put the registry and files back, then I can reallocate the package out as if its a new install. RM have being very cooperative with helping us solve this, but I am awaiting a reply for them for the next stage. They gave me this to try and send out to all of the machines, but it hasn't worked as it says the files are locked by the trend micro agent. REG DELETE "HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\TrendMicro" /f rmdir /S /Q "C:\Program Files (x86)\Trend Micro" I am really stuck now, and I am panicking because of the time that we have left of Half Term. I don't suppose anyone has experienced the same or similar with Trend Micro and can advice me, literally will try anything now. Many Thanks James

Help: Need a batch files/VB script to find file extensions with conditions I haven't been able to find a program to do this as not quite a "find duplicate file" scenario. Can anyone help? Scenario: I need to convert drawings from .pdf to .tiff/tif to be able to import into another program. However, I often also receive the drawing as a .tiff so don't always have a corresponding .pdf. Otherwise it would be a simple solution of deleting all .tiff. I have about 3500 project folders, with a squillion subfolders, and backups are getting too large. If I could filter out the duplicate .tiff, that would significantly reduce the total space required. Hence, I want to be able to search for and then move all .tiff/tif files to the local recycle bin (ie delete), where there is a matching .pdf in that subfolder location. (reduce size of backups) So ideally the location/file path will be part of the file name for finding duplicates, as the file name may not necessarily be unique, and then examine the file extension to find "duplicates". Example files: 1 d:\projects\House1\floorplan.pdf 2 d:\projects\House1\floorplan.tif 3 d:\projects\House2\floorplan.pdf 4 d:\projects\House2\floorplan.tif 5 d:\projects\House2\revised plan\floorplan.tif 6 d:\projects\House3\floorplan.pdf 7 d:\projects\House3\floorplan.tif Result: I would only want to find (and then delete) files 2,4&7 I don't want to delete file 5 as there is no matching .pdf in that subfolder... No file finder software can do this (as far as I can see) A bonus would be to include a variable to search only files older than say 3months.... Can anyone assist? Thanks in advance.
