Hi, I have been trying to figure out how to create a Batch file to automatically detach, delete and reattach a fresh sql2012 database. We use the databases for training and after each use we re-attach the fresh database. it is a tedious process as this needs to be done almost every day. I decided to try and automate this process, so far i have been able to detach, delete and attach a new database successfully but it drops the usernames and passwords and i do not understand why. "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.SIMS2012\MSSQL\Binn\Dbattach.exe" /SERVER=".\sims2012" /DATABASE="Engwe0" /USER="SA" /PASSWORD="Password1" /AUTODETACHMODE /AUTO pause call "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.SIMS2012\MSSQL\DATA\delete.bat" pause "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.SIMS2012\MSSQL\Binn\Dbattach.exe" /SERVER=".\sims2012" /USER="SA" /Password="Password1" /DATABASE="ENGwe0" /SOURCEDB="D:\Keystone\november15traindata_sims7.166_engwe_sql/ENGwe0.mdf" /AUTOATTACHMODE /AUTO pause this is the first time i have attempted a script and also the first time I've posted here, i would greatly appreciate any thoughts you may have Thanks In Advance!

I have been told to look into buying a couple new laptops. My minimum spec is at least i3, 4GB Ram and a screen size around 15". They will run on Win7 and preferably have a dvd drive. The laptop image is currently at around 80GB so I don't need a massive 1TB HDD. Does anyone have any recommendations on what to look into? Top end of the budget is about £400-£450 a laptop.

Hello, (I did notice a thread form a while ago posted by Duke, but after being in contact with him, he is still experiencing this issue. So I thought I would ask you guys again.) I am having an issue where - when a users my documents folder is redirected to a DFS share, windows explorer requires a manual refresh after creating a new folder, file, etc. (Interestingly, not when making a new briefcase) I have tried a number of MS knowledge base articles, a hot-fix and a registry change, all with no success. (( http:// support.microsoft.com/?kbid=823291 ; http:// support.microsoft.com/kb/873392 )) The problem only occurs when going through the my documents icon. If I map a home drive for the user to the exact same location (IE - H:\DFS\user\documents) , open that drive and make new folders, then there is no problem. Mapping my documents to H:\ also resolves the issue, however, as we need folder sync and people logging on off site with cached profiles this is not a workable solution (as H: will not map and there will be no access to their docs.) Has anyone managed to figure a fix for this? Thanks, Pete.

Does anyone know of a way to force windows to re-read the values in the registry, specifically HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Colors and HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Colors? I have written login and startup scripts to update the desktop background colour (at the login screen and on user's desktops) on all our machines but these changes do not seem to take effect until after a reboot or logoff/logon. Normally this wouldn't be a problem but since a lot of our machines use HDGUARD they do not get the new colours at first boot. It also means that users do not get the new colour at first login. I have tried using the RunDll32.exe USER32.DLL,UpdatePerUserSystemParameters ,1 ,True command but this will only update the wallpaper, not the background colour. Any thoughts would be much appreciated as would ideas for alternative methods to change the colour that will take effect immediately.

Is there a way to Preserve Computer Name on a Refresh Task Sequence? I'd like to be able to Refresh a Lab of 30 PC's over the summer, or as needed, and maintain the existing PC Name. Everything I've read leads me to believe that I won't be able to do this easily, if at all. If preserving a Computer Name on a Refresh cannot be done, I guess I can change the naming convention 'on the fly' for that classroom, and then rename them back to the standard computer names after the fact Or, I could just delete the 30 PC's from AD, and manually type in the PC names individually in the task Sequence as I PXE boot these to refresh them with Litetouch. Either method is not ideal, but I don't see a better option. Feedback on how you deal with a Lite Touch refresh of multiple PC's where you want to maintain the PC name of the computer would be appreciated. Thanks, Stephen

Hello, We're suddenly having an issue whereby when a user logs on, the Internet homepage (which I have done via Group Policy) doesn't load. If you press refresh or the home button...it loads. It's only started happening recently. Any ideas? Just to add, even though it has never been a problem before, we have an 'All Computers' GPO container and also an 'All Users' GPO containers (pretty standard I suppose) but the Group Policy object 'Internet Explorer Proxy Settings' is in both. Could this have an effect too?

We currently run a powerpoint presentation to show students the status of repairs and when their laptop is ready for collection from the ICT support team. We have a monitor mounted in a foyer for students to view. This is monitor is linked to a computer running a powerpoint presentation. We are currently having to stop the powerpoint and edit when the status of a repair changed. This is about 10-15 changes a day, each time having to vnc to the computer running the presentation and editing the file. Is there a way to edit a powerpoint presentation that is running and make it auto-refresh containing the changes. If not possible via powerpoint is there another solution? Many Thanks
